These are amazing

northernshepherdess · 16/09/2016 16:39

When my dad died, MIL invited me to stay because she didn't think I should be on my own.
We stayed up til 3am talking about how I forgave certain people for things that had happened in childhood.
Looking back, it felt like she was getting her house in order.
The following afternoon she took ill and spent 4 days in hospital.
She came home, but was taken back a few hours later.
The phone was ringjng off the hook then two weeks after her 2nd admittance I got a call and i knew it was THE call. They were asking for DP to return to the hospital asap.
MIL had seen her Dchildren that morn. One went home, one for a shower and the other was just going to the vending machine for a drink when MIL went to join her truely DH in the heavens.
During the house sale some decorating was needed and we went to do lots of work.
Our DC who was 20 months went and sat quietly on the floor next to where MIL bed was. It was heart breaking.
During the months of decorating we twice saw a human shadow. One from the kitchen to the stairs and one from the landing to her bedroom, including the door closing.
On mothers day 2013 (outing myself here to some perhaps) the potential buyers phoned to say the shower door was broken.
It wasNT broken. It had exploded.
Apparently that can happen to tempered glass.
Mothers day the year after, the now owners contacted us to say the washer had broken aon mothers day. The workman had just been out and found a necklace in the filter.. was it ours.
It was the MIL purchased by her DH and lost after his death and she was heartbroken about it.
Coincidence?

DancingOnMyOwn · 16/09/2016 16:54

Shock page that is absolutely terrifying!!

Mine isn't as good as all these and I haven't told anyone about it because it sounds daft.

Anyway, we have sadly lost 3 cats in the last year. I still cry almost everyday when I think about them, and since we lost our last one 2 months ago I keep seeing a white butterfly flying around my garden, usually at times when I'm really upset.

I like to think it's my cats telling me they're ok now Sad

Katkincake · 16/09/2016 16:59

Love reading these, keep them coming.

Kawolski - re: your room closing in feeling when younger (Pg 3), I used to get something similar but a floating / out of body thing. Stopped as I got older, but happened most around puberty. Just looked it up and seems it's a brain disorder www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1544705/Flying-in-your-sleep-may-be-a-paralysis.html

My only woo encounter was as a child. My late strait-laced grandparents used to own a toyshop that they lived above in a 2 floor flat. It had a back room storeroom we used to enter the building via when we visited on sundays - despite all the toys in there, my DSis and I used to leg it through the storeroom as fast as we could as we hated the sensation in there. We also hated sleeping in the attic bedroom on overnight stops.

Got talking to mum about all the shops they had over the years when I was in my 20s and how we hated the toy shop. Mum fessed up that grandad would frequently watch toys float about whilst he sorted stock in the shop. My nan gave their ghost a name & used to talk to her as she pottered about upstairs. They kept this from us as kids as didn't want to spook us, so it definitely gives credence to intuition and feelings you get for a place.

The80sweregreat · 16/09/2016 16:59

I often see butterflies, white ones and as we've had a hot summer this year in the south east they have been around a lot this year. I like to think its my mum and Auntie! not woo at all, or even odd, but it brings some comfort ( and when I see white feathers too on the ground) I often go 'hello mum and auntie ' my dh thinks i'm mad!

ijustwannadance · 16/09/2016 17:13

I started going out with a guy about 10 years ago.
Terrace house where front door opens straight onto living room with stairs directly ahead. Back of couch faced wall with stairs. Loo was also downstairs through kitchen.
One night we'd had a barney and I went to down to sleep on the couch. I woke up in the middle of the night and was aware someone else was there. A male figure was standing behind the couch looking down at me. Assuming it was bf who had come down to use loo I called him a nob and went back to sleep.
Next morning he swore blind it wasn't him. I realised the figure hadn't moved or responded. Felt no malice though. He then told me his brother who had lived with him had died a couple of years before in tragic circumstances. We broke up not long after. Guess I didn't get approved!

I regularly smell ciggy smoke in my house. Non smokers. DP can never smell it even when in same room. I used to always tell my now dead DBro off for smoking in my mum's house so assume it's him doing it to annoy me. I still tell him to fuck off and smoke outsideGrin.

SuperFlyHigh · 16/09/2016 17:18

does anyone remember the thread called something like 'Spooky things Kids Say'

and it had the black eyed children (Susan with no eyes?)

the woman driving past a graveyard and her son saying he saw dead people etc

and other spooky stories relating to kids specifically. chilled me out!

SparklyGlitterPants · 16/09/2016 17:20

Peacemaking again. Sorry. I love woo threads.

phoenix1973 · 16/09/2016 17:21

I have loads. The one that stands out is the time when I was flashed on my birthday.

ITellMyselfSecrets · 16/09/2016 17:22

ShockShock Satan that was awful! Sent chills up my spine, it's such a good job that you picked up on something sooner rather than later!!!

Mines nothing really but since we moved into our new home it was built in the 1800's so quite old but it's a barn conversion anyway my DD who's 2 as soon as we moved in started talking to someone on a night time in bed, belly laughing and sometimes through the day if she was to sneak upstairs we would find her sat laughing and talking to someone. Me and my DP also hear on a night someone walking from one end of the hallway upstairs into my daughters room (floors are really creaky) back out and to the top of the stairs, there's also been numerous times we have seen a shadow walking in our kitchen but it's always out of the corner of our eyes always get that spine chilling feeling.
We don't know the history of the house but my FIL did a lot of decorating in the house for the owner 10 years back and he took a picture of the front of the house in the window of my daughters room there looks like there's a woman standing looking out!
So weird though! My DD seems to like her though she always mentions that her friends there haha

liz70 · 16/09/2016 17:26

Not actually supernatural (I don't think) but my feather story is as follows:

I was on my biannual visit to the grave of someone very special to me - I think it was birthday rather than anniversary but I'd have to check in my notes.

After coming back into town from the cemetary I spent some time by the riverfront as it was such a lovely evening (I often do this). Only I spent too much time there and it started to get late for me to catch my bus back home (2 1/2 hour journey). So I was dashing frantically to the bus station, nearly knocking some poor woman over on a pedestrian crossing in my haste. Blush Then two feathers suddenly drop down in front of me, making me stop for a moment, and not hurry so much. I still managed to catch my bus. Smile

phoenix1973 · 16/09/2016 17:27

Oh and the fact that every now And then my house smells of newborn baby (johnsons products etc)
My only child is 10 and I live in a detached home with no babies nearby.
Oh and I don't own those sort of products.

Hemlock2013 · 16/09/2016 17:31

Page, I read your story on the last thread and have only just recovered so can't re read. Has anyone ever offered a likely theory or explanation?
