My DD aged around 3 was sitting on the stairs while I did her shoes up. She suddenly ducked violently to one side. I asked her if she was ok..she replied that she was fine, she was just moving to let an angel get past.

Another time I took her to play at a friends house. She went upstairs with my friends 2 children, a girl and a boy, to play

On the way home I asked her if she'd had a good time. She said she had but wanted to know who the other 2 girls were upstairs and why they just stood and watched and wouldn"t join in.

There were no other children in the house...

I kept getting answerphone messages on my landline from a local medical centre for a lady. I'll call her Joan Brown.

I just assumed that they had the wrong number for Joan and I kept meaning to ring and tell them but never got round to it. They always left their number and name of the medical centre.

One day I answered and someone asked for Joan Brown, I quickly explained they had wrong number but she carried on speaking. I soon realised she was speaking to Joan, I could hear the lady from the medical centre clear as day but they couldn't hear me.

I hung up and rang the medical centre straight back. The lady that answered said she was the only one on reception and hadn't phoned anyone. I explained I kept getting the calls and messages. She said she check what number they had for Joan Brown. She came back and said they didn't even have a Joan Brown registered there.

I'd definitely rang the right place, they'd left the name and number several times and it had even come up on the caller ID.

I was always getting strange noises on the phone like someone else's phone ringing and someone picking up a phone. I can only think crossed lines but this was only about 4-5 years ago. Sky checked the line several times too and said it was fine.

Not really woo but it was very strange.

On the way to my best friend's funeral, the radio played "Brown Eyed Girl" "Blaze of Glory" (our nightshift dancing about songs) and I had a wee smile, then "If Tomorrow Never Comes" followed by "I'll Be Missing You" I was a wreck by the time we got there, but we both believe in woo stuff and she always said she'd let me know she was ok if she went first.

Sassypants82 · 16/09/2016 08:25

I was at a graveyard with my son & husband. Husband busily looking for his uncle's grave while DS & I pottered around. He suddenly said 'what's the girl's name Mommy?' and I said 'what girl?' he pointed into thin air.. I asked if she was a big girl or a little girl & he said a big girl, 'but she's gone now'..
He would often smile & giggle into thin air as a baby. My brother died ten months before he was born & I always hoped it was his uncle paying a visit.

MadHattersWineParty · 16/09/2016 08:27

We lived in a house where the phone must have got crossed wires once. I was on the phone to my mum when suddenly there was an interference-type noise and I stopped being able to hear her. What I could here was a child crying, quiet crying really pitifully. I kept saying 'hello? Hello?' But no response. I could just hear these ragged breaths and sniffing. Then, in a chilling tone, and older woan's voice cut in in the background said 'Get. Off. The. Phone'

It was horrible. Seconds later it just cut back to my mum who hadn't even realised.

My house was built in 1900. The first person to own it was a widow called Lydia. The day I found this out, I was outside my front garden on the street and a man came up behind me, touched my arm and said 'Lydia, I haven't see you for ages'.

I spun around. He was an older chap but he looked odd. I can't explain it. He had the sort of face you expect to see in a history book. He just looked like he didn't belong there but I can't say why.

He apologised and said he thought I was someone else, someone who'd live around here a 'long time ago'.

So, he was most definitely a ghost looking for the Lydia that used to own my house obviously.... Grin

mrschatty · 16/09/2016 08:47

I have a few but here is 2
My nephew grew up on an raf based and when he was around 2/3 he started telling his parents that he had been an rag pilot in ww2 and had crashed and died. His mum is quite open to woo so she wasn't sure if it was past life/had seen a ghost who told him this story/ had just head something and picked it up on the RAF camp
My own tale is when I was around 3 I told my mum I had another mum and a brother called Michael. We lived in Ireland and we had no food and my mum put me on a boat to England to try and survive but we died on the boat Sad the way I described it was like potato famine
could be my overactive imagination could be past life regression

Loads of stuff, I'm not woo but DH is and even I can't explain this stuff. We lived in a flat that was a converted three story house. very odd layout,
our living room was at the front of 'our' flat, and there was a hallway that lead to the front door that was shared, it also had a toilet (but we also had our own toilet and so did upstairs) then upstairs was one big flat with an upstairs. This is the unwoo bit (creepy but not woo), But one day the man who lived upstairs (Alone) came in crying and just ran straight upstairs when I asked if he was ok. we fell asleep in the living room that night and DH woke up in need of a wee, So went to the shared loo in the hallway as it was closer. I woke up to hear DH scream and ran out to the hallway like my ass was on fire and unfortunately we both stood in horror to see the man hanging on the stairs :( Phoned the ambulance to come and get him, he was long gone. Fast forward a month or two, We'd had family come and collect his stuff, the landlord around to inspect and say he was going to find a new tenant etc. Fair enough.
One night we went to bed early and when half asleep I started hearing footsteps and groaning, I told DH to shut the fuck up and come back to bed.
Dh groaned at me (At the same time that the other groan was going on) and told me to piss off, he was already in bed (Aren't we charming)
I shot up, DH asked what was wrong, I said if its not you who the fuck is stomping around and making noises. DH immediately shot up too and we both went to investigate. We heard creaking on the stairs, Looked up and exactly where the ex tenant had hung himself there was a huge black spot. we turned the light on and it didn't disappear. then it sort of rumbled and flew straight out the front door. We had 2 months left on our lease, and had to stay for 3 (had to wait until the end of the lease to give 1 month notice) longest 3 months of my life tbh.
Someone moved in a couple of weeks after the incident above. They moved out within 7 days and went back to live with their parents until the lease ended. the worst thing that happened in that house/flat was when DH got home from work (I was already home and napping on the sofa) and the oven door and washing machine door both shattered. neither were in use they just shattered, and the most creepy thing was rather than shattering at random almost every single piece was within 30cm or so of DH. He had to scream for me to move the glass, and I had to remove 5 pieces from his legs.

WannaBe · 16/09/2016 09:20

I've told this story here before.

When we lived in South Africa my nan came over to visit. We were driving down the highway when we saw a stall on the side of the road selling African type carvings, boxes the sort of tat you buy for tourists which is dressed up as tribal art but which in truth is most likely made in China. Grin.

Anyway it wasn't all that hideous, so me and my sister each bought a carved wooden box. I can in fact still picture mine clearly. Took the box home and left it on a desk in my room. Never really thought of what to do with it until I spoke to friends in the holidays and they gave me their addresses to write to them (I was at boarding school so writing to friends in the holidays wasn't unheard of).

I wrote two addresses down on pieces of paper and put them both in the wooden box.

Those two friends died within a week of each other.

Told my mum and her immediate response was "get rid of the box." So I did.

witsender · 16/09/2016 09:22

Not really woo as such, but odd. My aunt passed two weeks ago, with my dad (her twin brother), my mum and her two children (my cousins) there. They had all been holding vigil for a few days, when mum and dad had to nip out to check in to their new hotel. On their return they were met by my cousins at the door who told them she had passed a few minutes ago. My parents went in, dad went to kiss her and she took another breath. She passed holding his hand. She certainly in to the world next to.him, and left next to him as it turned out. Sad

Meant the world to my dad, even the hospice nurses found it a bit woo, they had confirmed she had passed.

Oooh I love a woo thread! Place marking to add mine later.

Where's the shit scared emoji!!! I've got proper actual goose bumps! Cocklodger - HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO STAY THERE FOR THREE MONTHS! !!!!! Holy Shit I would have slept in my car and washed in a puddle rather than stay in that flat.

Cocklodger · 16/09/2016 09:53

witchywoo
we didn't have a car at the time, couldn't afford to rent two places at once and had no one to stay with. We stayed out working as often as we could and stuck together as much as we could and tried to stay towards the front of the house (I know it sounds ridiculous but there were a few times where it got bad/creepy enough for us to want to go straight out the door and stay out for a few hours).
It did take a toll on us mentally though as we always felt uneasy, on edge and like we were intruding on someone elses space.

witchywoohoo · 16/09/2016 09:54

Mine isn't scary just weird and it only happened a couple of nights ago. Lying in bed cuddling my boy as he drifted off to sleep I was having a "What would I do if I won the lottery fantasy". I decide that I would the kids for a magical Christmas adventure in London to go to the Harry Potter experience. I'm just lying there thinking how special it would be and imagining my boys face when I tell him, when he turns around in bed opens his eyes and says "I found a new Harry Potter book in school today - I love Harry Potter". We hadn't read it for yonks and hadn't been discussing it. I just hope he can't always read my mind WinkGrin

witchywoohoo · 16/09/2016 09:56

cock that's bloody terrifying. Hallelujah you don't need to stay there any more.

MrsCaecilius · 16/09/2016 10:00

Place marking too!

I have a few. Most recently my DP and I were walking through local countryside along a very old path in the woods. The path has raised banks either side, covered in trees and feels peaceful and quiet.

We walked into a slight clearing, chatting away and all of a sudden the hair stood up on his arms and he fell silent. We came out the other side and I asked why he was quiet and he explained that he had felt as though he'd walked in the a camp in the woods that was no longer there. He could see and hear men drinking around fires and described what they were wearing - he basically described rough and ready cavaliers from the Civil War.

He said it felt benign, but as though something wanted him to see what had been there.

We carried on the walk to a village we hadn't been to before and saw a plaque informing us that it has been a base for Royalists during the Civil War and that the local farm land had been used as camps for the soldiers whilst they rallied for a local battle.

If I mention it now the hairs still go up on his arms!

Discobabe · 16/09/2016 10:00

My mums flat was haunted. I always felt a bit off about one end of the place, it creeped me out and I was always drawn to looking as I felt watched. It was always cold at that end too, but it was an old building and the creepy end was near the door so I brushed it all off. My dh and I spent the night once. I was petrified as I could feel something (not pleasant) watching us from next to the window. I didn't dare move at all and hid behind my dh all night. He was oblivious and felt nothing (he's not a woo person) so I never mentioned it to my mum. It wasn't until after she'd moved out we got talking and I told her about our night there. She knew it was haunted and and had some bad experiences with 'the presence'.

When I was younger I regularly dreamt things that would later happen, but never anything huge. When i was 17 I dreamt a lad approached me on my walk home after a night out. I was alone, it was dark, late, no one around. Then it actually happened exactly as it had in my dream. He came up behind me, asked me some questions then asked me for a bj. I'm convinced the fact I'd had the dream meant I knew exactly what to say and do to get me safely out of that situation and kept me calm.
