To ask what expensive thing you have which you think was well worth the cost?

I got my bugaboo out of the garage today. It's nearly ten years old and I'm giving it to my sister for her baby. I can't believe what good nick it's in. Everything fabric wise can be washed, I've ordered one new wheel and tilt buttons because they were a bit dodgy but everything else is perfect. I've also ordered a new mattress obviously. I think it's fab that you can go on the bugaboo site and order parts for something nearly a decade old.

What do you have that was expensive but so so worth it.

Mrsderek she is a beaut!

rhuhbarb4 · 10/09/2016 19:54

my Swarovski Disney elsa ornament. I am a true Disney fanatic and have loads of Disney ornaments always wanted this one but at nearly £1000 I was reluctant. Dh brought me it for my birthday and it fills me with joy every time I see it (which is all the time as it takes pride of place in my living room away from small hands).

missyB1 · 10/09/2016 19:55

Hopefully the school fees will turn out to be a good investment.

Apart from that our Audi A4, bought it 8 years ago and never had any bother with it, such a reliable car.

TheProblemOfSusan · 10/09/2016 19:55

Ski boots. They get used once a year and for day trips to the indoor snowdome but they are SO MUCH better than hire boots. And they will last for ages and ages and ages. For ski boots they're not expensive but they were still spendy.

(sometimes I put them on and just wear them in the house cause they make me happy :D)

Cocolepew · 10/09/2016 19:55

Congratulations Blondes! Flowers

My big telly and netflix.

MitzyLeFrouf · 10/09/2016 19:55

I always assumed robot hoovers were just a gimmick. But they're actually worth it?

FrazzleM · 10/09/2016 19:58

Duilit toaster! £180 and I've had it 9 years.

9 years ago I was irresponsible and threw money away! But the toaster has last the distance, so hey ho.

And it's beautiful.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 10/09/2016 19:59

I'll come back but just wanted to say Blondes you win and best of luck to you Flowers

HateSummer · 10/09/2016 20:01

My Philips lumea. £350.

woodwaj · 10/09/2016 20:01

Kitchenaid 😍

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 10/09/2016 20:05

For us, expensive at the time, but sooo worth the money especially long term:
Our house. We couldn't afford it today.
Our car. Likewise.
The ride on mower. Saves a good 4-6 hours a week over many years and still going strong.
The super king mattress that cost a small fortune. Ron it's a Vi Spring Regal and it's worth every penny 8 years later. Never had a bed like this one.

MangoMoon · 10/09/2016 20:07

Acopyofacopy, mine is a Roomba.

FrazzleM · 10/09/2016 20:14

I've got a Lumea too, HateSummer but its never even been out of the box! Blush

HateSummer · 10/09/2016 20:16

frazzle, I order you to remove it and use it on any nagging superfluous hair on your body this instant! Grin

sansucre · 10/09/2016 20:17

MaidOfStars Eames chairs are manufactured in Europe by Vitra as they hold the license. Even so, it's still an original Eames chair and they have the paperwork and price tag to prove it!

Herman Miller has the license in the US and also manufactures them too, naturally. Obviously with the Eames being American, Herman Miller has manufactured all Eames products within the US since the beginning.

I know two people who own Eames chairs. One is Amerian and his chair was purchased in the US and produced by Herman Miller. The other is British and his chair was bought directly from Vitra. Both chairs are original although technically, not original as an original Eames lounge chair would have to be from 1956 when the chair was first released!
(Can you tell I have a background in furniture Grin )

Anyway, easily the most expensive thing I have is dental work. Worth every single penny. My only regret is that I didn't have the money to spend sooner. Teeth aside, probably the other expensive things I own and feel were worth the money are a beautiful Kai Kristiansen rosewood chest of drawers, Frette white bedding and bathrobe and my Canada Goose duvet coat.

Sleepybeanbump · 10/09/2016 20:18

Meindl walking boots- spent about £150 on them when I was a badly paid temp and it seemed insane but they've lasted 8 years and are still going albeit looking rather scruffy. So comfy. A new pair is waiting in the cupboard for when they finally die.

Also merino t shirts.

Hypnos orthopedic mattress- £500 when we were busting ourselves on first house. I love it although DH has declared he prefers the cheap IKEA foam ones we bought for the spare room!

For years I would have said our Miele cat and dog vacuum but now can't think why as I've fallen out of love with the heat-belching heavy horrible thing and its tangly satanic hose and dream of having a spare £1k to spend on a robot vacuum and a cordless handheld dyson Envy

My larder cupboard. Quite narrow but every day it's neat slidy organised loveliness makes me happy and I remember the days of grovelling about on the floor trying to reach cans at the back of a low cupboard.

Kayakinggirl86 · 10/09/2016 20:18

My oakleys sun glasses. We're expensivd but cost per wear is pennies.

Bigfatpicnic · 10/09/2016 20:19

Kids
Horse
Miele washing machine - it was a ridiculous amount of money 10 years ago and has never give me a moments trouble.
Ugg long leather boots
Chameau wellies
GHDs-bought YEARS ago and still going strong

Sleepybeanbump · 10/09/2016 20:24

Ooh- also my Uppababy buggy (not crazy in buggy world but seemed bonkers). Love love love it.

And proper double glazed real wood replacement sash Windows with extra sound proofing glass. We've had them in two houses now and they make me smile - they're so lovely and smooth and heavy to open, the quiet when you shut them, the way they finish the room and look so nice from outside. £1700 per window though Shock! Our budget won't stretch to that sort of thing on our next house!! We were so free with money before DS!

HelenaJustina · 10/09/2016 20:24

Bedside cot bought for DC 1 and used for all 4. There were only 2 on the market at the time go me, trailblazer but it was absolutely fantastic.

sugarmonster64 · 10/09/2016 20:26

2 Mulberry handbags which have been used so much the cost per wear must be pretty low. Bought years ago when prices weren't stupid and quality was great
The dog
Our house - even though we'll be paying if it off until we're old it's lovely and spacious and in a fantastic location.

Sleepybeanbump · 10/09/2016 20:31

Can I do a reverse and nominate the shittest expensive thing I own? The bugaboo debate reminded me...I loathe my Icandy peach off-road with a deep and furious hatred. If I didn't need to inflict it upon some poor unwitting innocent sell it to recoup costs I'd actually ceremoniously burn it.
It's perfectly functional, I just hate everything about the heavy, stiff, puncture-prone clicky-hooded bastard.

mowglik · 10/09/2016 20:32

Our king size vi spring chatsworth mattress, cost ££££ but has ruined me for every other bed including my old one at my parents house :(

lumea - every time I look at my hair free smooth legs and underarms it makes me smile

my UGGs - not v exp and not so fashionable any more but Ive had them for 10+ years and they are still going strong and the only footwear that keeps my feet warm autumn through winter

cashmere bedsocks - so cosy its like getting a foot massage when i wear them in bed!

NotMyMoney · 10/09/2016 20:34

DDog 1 Took 2 years to find. She's nearly three, she was born the same day as my youngest, she's a mixed breed (selected percentage)and two attempts have been made to steal her. An excellent worker and family pet worth the wait even though it was tempting to just buy a dog similar to her mix. Her brother (we believe) was in foster care but because DC is nearly 3 they wouldn't let us adopt him! Met on a walk, the same age as ours, same marking, same rare mix and from the same area originally!

DDog 2 spend 2 weeks looking for is only a pup but has the right character so should be perfect to start training when he is just over 1.

They give me joy no money could buy

FindoGask · 10/09/2016 20:36

My tits. Went private for a breast reduction in 2004 - changed my life.
