...to listen to Stevie Nicks?! I've just 'discovered' her and I'm in love already. How have I gone this long not knowing she exists?

What songs/albums should I be listening to?

Is she really a white witch?

Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music are good, too.

Memoires · 09/09/2016 16:54

We used to be able to get her doing all our old favourites on YouTube, but in the light of this rerelease thing they're doing they've deleted it all! Is it back up again?

(She's the one whose roadie always had to blow x up her x half way through the stage set, isn't she?)

wasonthelist · 09/09/2016 16:55

Debbie Harry's solo album Deaf Dumb and Blonde is pretty good.

albertcampionscat · 09/09/2016 17:10

Rumours is amazing. Court and Spark, and Harvest next?

bookbook · 09/09/2016 17:27

Don Maclean American Pie
Simon and Garfunkel - almost every album has a favourite song of mine Homeward Bound and The Boxer particularly
then - not albums as everyone has mentioned nearly all the others I bought in the 70's :) (I'm officially old)
Angie by Bert Jansch
Who's going to take you home by the Cars
I could go on..., and on...

Cocolepew · 09/09/2016 17:33

I love Stevie but Christine McVeighs voice on Songbird is perfection.

Ahem op

The Corrs murder everything. Even their own songs. But I don't like Fleetwood Mac either

Rockingaround · 09/09/2016 17:41

Listen to rooms are on fire - someone put it on a mix tape for me 😍 I love Stevie

Willow2016 · 09/09/2016 17:50

If yo are looking for some other good stuff to listen to I would suggest Janis Ian. Beautiful songs. Try 'Jesse'

Willow2016 · 09/09/2016 17:52

Damm pressed by accident.
I also recommend "At 17" & "Stars"

MitzyLeFrouf · 09/09/2016 17:54

I hate 'At 17' so much! Dreariest song ever, even though I'm sure it's full of truths.

Willow2016 · 09/09/2016 18:09

Mitzy Smile each to their own, I prefer Jesse myself and some other stuff, especially on 'Stars' album but "at 17" has a lot of truth in it.

ShutTheFridgeUp · 09/09/2016 18:15

I was late discovering Janis Joplin and all her associated bands. Was super obsessed for about a year and she was all I would listen to. Bloody amazing!

Lightbulbon · 09/09/2016 18:32

I didn't discover nirvana or green day until well after their time.

marymaryhadalittlelamb · 09/09/2016 18:44

StevieGrinAgree with an earlier post , Belladonna & Edge of Seventeen. Deep, dark disturbing bass that sounds like The Police. There's a great live Fleetwood Mac album with best version of Rihanon. Went through a witchy woo Stevie Nicks phase with gypsy skirts, boots & carmen rollered hair. Love her Grin

frikadela01 · 09/09/2016 18:56

I adore Fleetwood Mac. Me and my sister saw them live last year and they were amazing. Stevie has such an ethereal quality about her... She's so mesmerising. I love Gypsy, Sara and Landslide.

Agree with pp that Christine Mcvies voice on songbird is just beautiful.

Ego147 · 09/09/2016 18:59

Simon and Garfunkel - pure poetry set to music

The Carpenters - Karen Carpenter has a sublime voice

Ego147 · 09/09/2016 19:01

And another singer with a beautiful voice is Eva Cassidy. Sadly she died of breast cancer

This is her singing Over the Rainbow

frikadela01 · 09/09/2016 19:05

Ego I love the carpenters. My Gran used to listen to them but I rediscovered them when I worked with the elderly. I love the melancholy in Karens voice. Perfect Sunday morning music.
I also love the seekers. Walk with me and carnival is over are just gorgeous songs.

I think I'm old before my time.

Ego147 · 09/09/2016 19:08

Way to make someone feel real old Grin

rednsparkley · 09/09/2016 19:15

I absolutely adore Stevie Nicks' voice, just heaven and paired with Tom Petty (another of my favourites) on Stop Dragging My Heart Around is sublime. Fleetwood Mac are one of my all time go-to, feel-great bands.

Add in Kate Bush, Nina Simone, Roy Orbison and Ella Fitzgerald and you have my ideal singing in the car combo Grin

Niklepic · 09/09/2016 19:16

My parents are huge Fleetwood Mac fans. My little sister is called Stevie.

We were also brought up with The Cars, Dire Straits and the Moody Blue. Oh and Kate Bush and Mike Oldfield on every car journey!

Hateloggingin · 09/09/2016 19:23

Landslide is my favourite song of all time :)
