...to listen to Stevie Nicks?! I've just 'discovered' her and I'm in love already. How have I gone this long not knowing she exists?

What songs/albums should I be listening to?

'Timespace' is a 'best of' album, great to lose yourself in her amazing voice and lyrics.

And of course 'Rumours' is a seminal album, should be in everyones collection Smile

If I am mad or happy and wanna dance 'Go your own way' does it every time. (yes I know the background, but its just such a thumping great song!)

I have their 'Greatest Hits' in the car, play it to death!

Racheyg · 09/09/2016 15:27

Stevie rules. Parents were huge fans of Mac so I grew up listening to them. Oh daddy is amazing. She has an awesome voice, I almost killed someone when the heard me play edge of 17 and thought it was destiny child

Whathaveilost · 09/09/2016 15:27

Blimey, people will be telling me next they thought One Way or Another was an original by One Direction!!

allthecarbs · 09/09/2016 15:32

Thanks for all the suggestions, going to binge on them all weekend.
It was AHS I saw her and just thought oh my god, what a woman!
I've heard her name before but thought she was an American baseball team or something Blush

I must admit I was about to start asking Beyonce if she could handle it when I put edge of 17 on.

How can anyone have parents that didn't own Rumours? How is that even possible. Op you should demand compensation!

trafalgargal · 09/09/2016 15:42

My parents didn't own it .....I did :D

user1473069303 · 09/09/2016 15:44

Love Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac. It's proper music for adults (if the Mirage album cover art is anything to go by. Not the airbrushed hairless teenybopper fodder we get now ;-)

Racheyg · 09/09/2016 15:51

Hahaha op, that made me laugh

Champagneformyrealfriends · 09/09/2016 15:52

"Sara" is my all time favourite-enjoy op!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 09/09/2016 16:07

I think Fleetwood Mac are having a moment. Very popular with my DD(20)'s crowd.

justpeachy74 · 09/09/2016 16:11

SirChenjin you're absolutely right about the amazing Richard Hawley. So good live.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 09/09/2016 16:12

Rooms On Fire is my favourite Stevie Nicks song. Played it to death growing up Grin

justpeachy74 · 09/09/2016 16:14

OP I missed so much good music. I have so many of those 'why have I never known about this?' moments. I knew FM had some great songs but never really delved further. I do have the Rumours album on my phone though so will get to know it better now.

MitzyLeFrouf · 09/09/2016 16:19

I'm listening to Seven Wonders now.

Choon!

allthecarbs · 09/09/2016 16:37

I'm going to give Richard Hawley a try too, don't want to miss out on another one!

You Can Talk To Me brings me right back to the eighties. Stevie is my idol or idyll ;)

batmango · 09/09/2016 16:43

Tango in the Night & Rumours

batmango · 09/09/2016 16:44

& Say You Will
& the rest of them

wasonthelist · 09/09/2016 16:44

If we are nominating other artists for ruining Fleetwood Mac songs, Florence and the Machine's live murdering of The Chain would be quite high on my list.

batmango · 09/09/2016 16:45

(albums)

BeMorePanda · 09/09/2016 16:45

OK so you all know about the Beach Boys right?

And Blondie?

just checking :)

OhMrBadger · 09/09/2016 16:47

Oh OP, you have soooo much to look forward to! My absolute favourite Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac songs are That's Alright from Mirage (just fabulous to sing along to) and Landslide from the eponymous album. The line "time makes you bolder/even children get older" makes me melt every time.

Oh and Gold Dust Woman is incredibly sexy and empowering.

allthecarbs · 09/09/2016 16:50

I went through a massive Blondie phase when I was younger, still love her Smile

I've only really listened to the beach boys songs that get played on the radio, you know the wouldn't it be nice if we were older type. Can't say I love them. Should I see what else they have?
