bus using our driveway to turn around every day.

Scene - basically, we live on a main road, with a private dead end service road for us to get to our houses and parking spaces. There are 8 houses along our little row. We have a drive outside our house, then the service lane, then another parking space, then a small strip of grass (ours) then the main road.

I have noticed that a small bus (18 seater maybe??) has started collecting a dc from our row of houses, and is using our parking space and grass to turn around each morning and afternoon. The alternative would be to reverse back down the lane and turn around at the entrance.

For some reason this really annoys me that the bus driver does this twice a day. We now have tyre marks on the grass, and I think it will add to the break up of the road surface.
DH is not bothered, saying he has to turn around somewhere, but it annoys me. AIBU?

Well played, OP. Grin

I reckon the neighbours would understand why this would upset you. Don't worry about it.

Ring bus company, complain forcefully, send them photos of your marked grass and tell them that when the grass gets churned up and ruined in the wet winter weather (which it will), that you'll be having it returned professionally and sending them the invoice.

Then buy big 'decorative' rocks, put them round the edge and laugh as the driver causes £££'s worth of damage to the bus and picture him having to go back to the office and explain to his employers.

"All the OP wants is for the bad-mannered diver not to drive on or over her property. This is a perfectly reasonable request."

Agree MoreCoffee. The fact that he dismissed her with a hand motion made my blood pressure rise on OPs behalf! Cheeky git

INTERESTING UPDATE!!

SO this morning, I had to run out to the car to look for missing school jumper, and lo and behold, there was THE BUS just approaching our driveway. He reversed back to dc house and turned around in their driveway. We have started parking our cars so there is no room for him to turn on our driveway, just in case. So my dd goes off to school without a jumper. Then 5 mins later I find the jumper, so I jump in to my car to catch her at the bus stop before her bus leaves. I am then waiting behind THE BUS to collect dc, when a taxi also arrives to collect dc's brother!!! (they are both entitled to free transport - I won't go in to details on MN). Mayhem ensues as THE BUS and taxi try to get round each other, in dc's drive!!!!
So it seems THE BUS is still looking to use our driveway. Next week dh will be back at work so his car won't be here. I think I know what will be happening with THE BUS.
I am going to make some phone calls today.

Some calls, definitely. And put your bins or whatever in the space whilst DH is away, if that doesn't stop you getting out.

GlitteryFluff · 09/09/2016 09:12

Is the main road safe for the bus to reverse onto? If it is then the bus should do that. If it's a busy main road then the bus can't as wouldn't be safe.
