Aibu to not iron bed sheets

lalaland1985 · 05/09/2016 22:29

We have a superking bed. For the past hour and a half I have been standing ironing sheets to put on the bed. I have only managed the flat sheet and pillow cases. I have the bloody duvet cover and fitted sheet to go! Aibu to fling it all on in its creased form!?

I have never ironed bed linen - life way to short - tbh - I don't iron full stop! Can't remember last time I plugged in iron.

mrsmugoo · 06/09/2016 16:11

Are you kidding, I don't even own an iron!

Thisisfourty · 06/09/2016 16:17

Bedding is ironed ???, have never ironed. Buy clothes that don't need ironing

c3pu · 06/09/2016 16:18

I have a very strict Zero ironing policy.

YANBU!!

TheProblemOfSusan · 06/09/2016 16:32

Ironing is a tool of the patriarchy. Unless you really, genuinely like doing it (I've heard of people finding it relaxing) in which case rock on.

WindInThePussyWillows · 06/09/2016 16:37

Never iron mine!

I stayed at my dads last week and he spent two hours ironing all sorts, including baby sleep suits for my twins and all his super King bedding.

He wouldn't let me help it was really sad to watch Blush

whywonthedgehogssharethehedge · 06/09/2016 16:40

I never iron bedding. It's my bedroom not a showroom. Life's to short to mess about ironing such things.

tinglyfing · 06/09/2016 17:02

What is ironing?

Lkiirby91 · 06/09/2016 17:18

I don't even own an iron Shock

LotsOfShoes · 06/09/2016 17:21

We have to iron quite a lot of stuff as we work in an office and have to look smart every day. I even iron t-shirts, I hate the look of crumpled clothing. But bed sheets? Never. Not once.

user1473106504 · 06/09/2016 17:29

superking must be annoying but bedsheets feels so much better ironed

megletthesecond · 06/09/2016 17:33

Yanbu.

In the last decade I've only ironed two pairs of my work trousers on an occasional basis. In fact, until I bought them the iron hadn't even been out in 5yrs. Life is too short to iron most things.

freetrampolineforall · 06/09/2016 17:36

That's why we have fitted sheets. I grew up with the whole "hospital corners" thing. I repeat: that's why why have fitted sheets. I might iron a pillow case or duvet cover while I'm doing a shirt. But not every time.

PacificDogwod · 06/09/2016 17:38

What is this 'ironing' of which you speak?! Confused

milkyface · 06/09/2016 17:53

The only time I would iron bedsheets is for estate agent pics when selling my house.

Life's too short.

Buy the non iron non crease whatever they're called ones.

WasDat · 06/09/2016 17:56

Wait? People do this?! No, you are 100% nbu.

MuseumOfCurry · 06/09/2016 17:58

I am guilty of ironing duvets (I watch Grand Designs!) but fitted sheets seems a bit bonkers.

MuseumOfCurry · 06/09/2016 17:58

Duvet cover, that is.

MitzyLeFrouf · 06/09/2016 17:59

I'm no great ironer but I must admit I do like nicely ironed sheets.

Fanjolena · 06/09/2016 18:00

YANBU, I recently stayed in a friend's caravan and she gave me all the bedding crisply ironed to take with us, of course I felt obligated to hand it back in the same condition. My iron is now out of commission having been smashed in a fit of bed linen ironing rage. Never ever again.

Nanny0gg · 06/09/2016 18:00

So what life-enhancing things do you all do whilst others are ironing?

BarbaraofSeville · 06/09/2016 18:15

Sitting and staring at the wall is more life enhancing than pointless housework.

I would iron bedsheets if I found myself with absolutely nothing else to do and couldn't think of anything else to do and was bored of staring at the wall. I do not see this happening within my lifetime.

ProseccoBitch · 06/09/2016 18:17

I have a superking bed too and I would never dream of ironing the bed linen. Actually I wouldn't do it even if I had a single bed, life's too short!

expatinscotland · 06/09/2016 18:19

YANBU

Notso · 06/09/2016 18:36

I iron bedsheets, except my seersucker one duvet cover.
It only takes a few mins as I fold them and do them that way. They feel nicer when they are ironed.
Clothes get ironed here too. Not everything but most tops and t-shirts.
