Welcome to 14.....

We got spooky 13 out the way. Now business as usual.

Don't worry about making sense, we rarely do!!

A poem from Portia

Mother Nature don't build straight lines
We're broken moulds in a grand design
We look a mess but we're doing fine
We're card carrying lifelong members
Of the Union of different kinds

Crack on and enjoy!!

Morning all!

I have schoolmumgate for the first time tommorrow. Which is unfortunate, as I still need to buy him trousers and shoes.

Also, do you actually need nametapes?

I don't have nametapes, either...

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 09:56

One last day of freedom, Jess! How are you feeling today?

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 09:58

By "freedom", I of course mean frantic, pre-school activity. Grin

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 10:00

The bit I used to like was going out and buying all their new stationery with them - new pencils, crayons, rulers etc. They used to get very excited about that!

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 06/09/2016 10:01

I'm feeling better. Not literally, of course.

I have massive pile of laundry to do, hoovering, changing beds, last minute school shopping and an attempt to take DS to the barber's.

Which is why I'm doing bugger all and looking at MN.

#FeelingTheFear

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 10:04

I'd cut out at least half of that, Jess - can't the piles of laundry wait till tomorrow? (or the next day?) Just do the essentials since you haven't been feeling well.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 06/09/2016 10:12

You're right, better (makes self comfy on the sofa).

The scariest bit will be taking DS to the barber. I've already said 'haircut today' in a 'won't it be fun?' voice and he's had a meltdown!

AIBU to send him to school with a man bun?

(His hair isn't really that long, but it definitely needs a trim)

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 10:22

Bribe him, Jess - bribe him shamelessly. After we've been to the hairdresser's, darling, you'll get a packet of chocolate buttons, smarties, little car etc. Worked brilliantly for me.

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 10:29

Jess if you have a mixing bowl, put that on ds head and cut hair to the edges of said bowl
Commonly known as a pudding basin haircut ( as administered to Mum from Gran) and saves lining the barbers pockets.
Name tapes are given to one's Mum to sew or iron on.Grin
Hope you're feeling better today

VanillaSugar · 06/09/2016 10:36

Laundry market pen / non washable Sharpie. I had to see 4 trillion namesake onto DD's clothes when she went to boarding school - even her smalls Confused

Never again!

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 10:40

Grin to mixing bowl method of hairdressing.

MyDressIsInferiorBlue · 06/09/2016 10:42

jess I don't use name tapes I just write straight on the clothes label in Biro and refresh occasionally. It has worked fine throughout DS time at school nursery. Do make sure everything has a name though or you will be replacing it often. Even hats and coats need naming.

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 10:51

Vanilla I boarded during the week and lost my smalls I got an A for that, she's called PortiaTeen*
So you see sewing name tapes on is worthwhile Grin

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 10:56

Grin Grin

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 10:57

Now that's a cautionary tale, if ever I heard one! Grin

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 11:00

I've heard of many reasons for sewing on name tapes, but none before as a contraceptive!

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 11:09

Grin The rugby field had a lot of egg shaped balls lying around under the cover of an large oak tree.

Vanilla Clocks go back! - it will be 03:30! Shock .

These Mumzilla's sound something else - is this the case across the land?. I think it would be water off a ducks back to me - and I hope it is to you if they are as friendly as a basket of vipers!.

better - I always talk with my head.....my friends do tell me I give sound advice. Of course I frequently act with my heart too!.

Good luck with DS first day at school tomorrow!. I really hope you are both ok and he enjoys it.

Productive morning here - peachbaby now snoozing - time for a shower!.

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 11:30
Brilliant song from a great guy
Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 11:37

peach I'm not sure that AGL will listen to any of us anyway so all our advice will be falling on stony ground... Grin

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 12:03

Lovely, Portia! Smile

MyDressIsInferiorBlue · 06/09/2016 12:07

Portia I'm starting to wonder who you love more - AT or Passenger

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 12:21

Passenger is my friend because I gave him a quid when he was busking and we exchanged pleasantries. Now the same can be said for Aidey baby but the pleasantries are more pronouced and I didn't give him a quid but gave him a nice breakfas instead

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 06/09/2016 12:22

Er, Mikey is mine. He and portia are 'just friends'.

Have just had hideous, panicky rush to M&S for trousers and shoes. Also a raspberry cheesecake 'for later' (rips open packet)

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 12:32

Good grief Jess you have bought a raspberry cheesecake I make my own!
