Welcome to 14.....

We got spooky 13 out the way. Now business as usual.

Don't worry about making sense, we rarely do!!

A poem from Portia

Mother Nature don't build straight lines
We're broken moulds in a grand design
We look a mess but we're doing fine
We're card carrying lifelong members
Of the Union of different kinds

Crack on and enjoy!!

Rescued someone again! Its never ending down there.

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 20:05

Just saw someone being pulled out of the water but don't know any details.

RedMerida · 06/09/2016 20:17

I hope they're OK Portia.

RedMerida · 06/09/2016 20:20

I had a cockatiel (a real one)
A hamster (another real one)
2 chipmunks for a while (bloody hell they stunk!! I had to re-home them, they were nuts!)

I had a tamagotchi for a while too but I was fed up of it dying because I didn't feed it.

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 20:26

Red they're looking for another person I think 2 kayakers were caught in a rip. My family have close links with RNLI so I get concerned.

RedMerida · 06/09/2016 20:29

Doesn't sound good Portia. Has it been a particularly bad year this year? We don't get to hear about it up this way. But since being on this thread I've been surprised by the amount of call outs and deaths.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 06/09/2016 20:30

Evening all. Just sitting with DD attempting to get her to sleep. First day at nursery tomorrow. I'm not emotionally ready for this. 😫

MyDressIsInferiorBlue · 06/09/2016 20:33

Same here red I don't hear about these rescues normally - its only if it makes national news. Its shocking how often they are going out. I say again that the RNLI should be government funded and paid!

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 06/09/2016 20:33

Portia oh no. I thought the silly season was over...

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 20:35

No Red this year isn't too bad it's just gained more publicity because of the tv series and campaign in cinemas.

VanillaSugar · 06/09/2016 20:35

Oh dear - there's been a lot of news reports about rip tides and how to spot them. Hats off to do the RNLI volunteers! 🏊👑🔱👑🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

VanillaSugar · 06/09/2016 20:37

Being she'll be fine! You'll need a stiff drink after you drop her off though.

MyDressIsInferiorBlue · 06/09/2016 20:37

being how old is she? I'm sure she'll be fine, unlike you, who will probably spend the whole time stressing about her.

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 20:43

I know Jess I saw my neighbour rushing out at warp speed and heard him say Mullion to his wife so I gawped at the web cam. Saw them pull one person in but they're still out looking for someone else. Going to nip round and see if neighbours ok

carbcraver · 06/09/2016 20:43

What would you do??!!

I won't be able to drop her off. She starts at 9 and I'm a teacher. Sad

She is just over 2 and a 1/2.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 06/09/2016 20:57

being. I'm terrified of DS's first day in reception tomorrow!

Nice neighbour (not the twat with the drill) just dropped round some blueberry muffins for our brekkie because she thought I might be 'to nervous to cook'. Very, very lovely but.....cook? A breakfast? About as likely as a very hot place freezing over.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 06/09/2016 21:00

carb. I saw that. It's all a bit 'Shallow Grave' and that didn't end well. Personally, I'd hang on to it for six months. Maybe leave it in the spot I'd found it. See what happened. If they come back, no repercussions - they can simply take it with them.

But am not terribly moral. Do you think the story is real?

VanillaSugar · 06/09/2016 21:00

I'd hand it into the police. Good point about the OP's fingerprints in the notes!

carbcraver · 06/09/2016 21:14

Not sure jess. I too have low morals 😂😂 haven't seen/read shallow grave so can't comment.

Agreed Vanilla. They've handled it. It's tainted with their DNA unless they wore gloves

I think reality is most would briefly consider keeping, then either put it back for the criminals to have back or hand to police.

MyDressIsInferiorBlue · 06/09/2016 21:21

being its probably best its someone else dropping her off. They won't feel the same anguish you would so your DD can't pick up on it (I know lots of people say DC that young don't notice our feelings but DS always seemed to). I personally think 2.5 is a nice age to start at nursery.

RedMerida · 06/09/2016 21:25

I have to be honest, I didn't even know until this thread that RNLI were volunteers. I was really surprised.

MyDressIsInferiorBlue · 06/09/2016 21:28

jess he'll be fine. DS was really happy with his first day in reception. He was telling me the different things he did and really liked the school dinner (they are actually quite nice school dinners here - we got to go in for a trial run dinner time before summer hols).

carbcraver · 06/09/2016 21:30

My youngest starts next Monday. Home visit from teacher and TA this week.

5.... Yes 5.... Weeks of part time settling in 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
