to be annoyed at DD's friend's Mum

AIBU to be annoyed that when DD (7) went to her friend's house her friend's Mum gave her fish fingers and beans as a dinner. When DD's friend visited us we gave her coleslaw and quinoa salad- a healthy meal! DD is ridiculously bright and unusually sensitive child and I believe this experience may have imbalanced her and disrupted her sleeping.

God, I hate quinoa. Ate it regularly for years, then thought, why am I doing this to us?

I've got a packet of Batchelor's Pasta'N'Sauce for my lunch today. It's vegetarian, so I'm counting it as 10 of my 5-a-day.

I am flabberghasted. I am the friend's DM who served "fishfingers and beans". What the OP has failed to mention is that my DD and I caught that seabass ourselves whilst deep sea fishing off the coast of Sardinia (where we have a small second home) I then rolled it in organic polenta and pan fried gently in extra virgin olive oil until a golden crust appeared. The beans were harvested from my own garden and simmered with fresh, ripe tomatoes from our greenhouse.

I was discusted when my DD came home from the quinoa/coleslaw dinner. I actually got a note from her teacher the next day stating that she was sure dd had consumed too little omega 3/6/9 the night before as her usual peak performance had dipped.

What is cheesy mash? Genuine question

Only the second best kind of mash, after mustard mash! Cheese IN mashed potato! It's the stuff of dreams Grin

Goingtobeawesome · 05/09/2016 17:12

Mash with horse radish is nice too.

KC225 · 05/09/2016 17:24

Ahhhh Oh thanks, I do love a mustard mash. So Is the cheese grated and folded in or melted first?

originalmavis · 05/09/2016 17:32

Quinoa is supposed to be good for energy not for making you smart.

Still tastes like soggy shit though. Bleugh.

amusedbush · 05/09/2016 19:36

I grate it and stir it into the mash so it melts through it.

stoptouchingthat · 05/09/2016 19:37

0/10

Secretmetalfan · 05/09/2016 20:24

Hope they had artic roll for pudding (sat watching tv with the bowl on their knee of course) my mum used to do this with a ring of tinned pineapple on top of the artic roll and glacé cherry in the hole. Carbs, calcium and 2of your five a day all in one tasty bowl

Karlakitten1 · 05/09/2016 20:51

Fun bonding activity...you knobhead!

DotForShort · 05/09/2016 21:03

Why, oh why do people invent fake threads that aren't even funny? Where are the wits of yesteryear?

StrattersHasACunningPlan · 05/09/2016 21:07

Gorn, all gorn, Dot

Tezza1 · 06/09/2016 00:44

I do love a mustard mash.
I've never heard of this. However, I love mash (particularly with double cream) and mustard. This sounds divine. Off to look at recipes.

Might have to add some baby capers, as i always think they go well with mustard.

ShelaghTurner · 06/09/2016 01:52

What is quinoa anyway? Is it like cous cous small and pointless?
