AIBU?

To think this is disgusting?

BIL visits. BIL gets toothbrush from bathroom and wanders around living room brushing teeth. BIL then goes over to kitchen sink to spit/rinse mouth. It's open plan so we get to see him spitting in our kitchen sink.

AIBU to think you just wouldn't do this in someone else's home?

I am surprised so many people are ok with this. So would you happily brush and spit in someone else's house? I would feel so rude doing that!

I think I'm in the minority but I'm glad there are others who wouldn't spit in my kitchen sink...Smile

Yes, that is foul.

ticks my disgusting box, and I'm a right minger.

toothpaste is just disgusting, anyway. No one should spit into a kitchen sink habitually.

I wander round brushing teeth as it gets boring Blush but not in the presence of others Confused that is a bit gross.

Its not good manners, but it is not disgusting either.

I have friends who keep their kids brushes by kitchen sink to brush teeth after breakfast without needing to go upstairs again. It would not bother me as long as they rinsed. I know many elderly patients who live downstairs in their homes and have to flannel wash daily from their kitchen sinks plus shave/teeth etc

I do it sometimes. And I'm obsessively clean.

The thought of sharing a toothbrush with anyone makes me feel ill. And wtf..why not brush your teeth in the bathroom like a normal person. Thats just weird.

especially in someone elses house

But vdb, that's their own sink. Totally different. Question is, if they were visiting someone else would they still use the kitchen sink?

Tinklypoo "I do like to roam about while brushing."

Why? Confused

I'd not be too bothered by the sink bit would be a bit eugh. What would really bother me would be the walking round and the toothpaste being splattered around the house. Head over sink please.

I feel really queasy watching or hearing anyone brushing their teeth. It's a no (yes) from me.

YANBU, I would puke involuntarily. Tooth brushing should be confined to the bathroom.people spitting in the street make me gag.

A mate was telling me how she'd puked in the kitchen sink and the bits wouldn't go down. I sympathetically almost gagged. Never, ever use a sink for this! I thinks have to rip it out and replace it!

eh? All sinks are kinda interchangeable aren't they?

We brush ours in the kitchen all the time (we're currently renovating the bathroom and there's no sink in there) and it doesn't bother me at all. I would stay in the bathroom at someone else's house though!

Children brush and spit in the kitchen on a daily basis

CremeEggThief you don't use the kitchen sink for hand washing at all?

Do you go through the house after preparing, say, raw chicken to wash your hands in the bathroom???

Yes it's a bit eccentric and crusty to do this in someone else's house in front of the hosts. Would I do it in my own house on occasion? Perhaps.

Wouldn't bother me

Crikey all of my kids do this every morning. They get their toothbrushes from the bathroom upstairs, I start yelling that they are going to miss the bus, they come down toothbrush still in mouth and spit into the kitchen sink. Still I'm so glad they brush. Imagine them going to school with stinky morning breath? They wouldn't have any friends! Toothpaste is easily washed away......YABU

They can't brush them very thoroughly

Disgusting, why would you do that and in someone elses home. That's a real lack of respect or at least normal healthy boundaries.

None of our 5DC would do that and they're children and 2 of our DC are asd,so I really can't understand an adult doing it.

There is no logic to minding this. There isn't a hygiene issue at all.

YABU

Yep a YABU from me. Your BIL is odd for wandering, for sure, but that wasn't the question.

The kitchen sink entertains far more yuck than toothpaste spit. Won't someone please think of the chicken/mince rinsers?
