To put 3 yr old and 18 month old on holiday club?

We've booked a holiday in Spain at a Spa resort that has crèche/kids club facilities with trained child minders. Sessions are three hours long.

We're going tomorrow and hubby has revealed he has booked us a couple of mornings in Spa and some other sessions so we can have some chill out time.

With demanding kids who literally won't let me even think at the moment I can't say not tempted. It's exhausting at the moment and we don't get a minute together. Looking at reviews everyone v positive about crèche etc. He is very excited for prospect of both time with kids and some time alone.

But as we get closer getting v nervous about idea of leaving them. Am I being unreasonable if I refuse? I have the feeling he might be upset as one reasons paid huge amount for Hol was for facility.

I would. It's a holiday for you all. They get a few hours in a holiday club and you and your husband get a few hours to yourself

I personally have never felt the need, but I currently only have one ds (no.2 due Nov) who is 5. If i'd had two close in age and still so young I'd definitely have been tempted! If you feel comfortable about it and are happy with the care they'll provide and think they'll be OK with being left, go and enjoy some time together! I hope you have a lovely time.

Have either of your DC been in creche before? I would do it but maybe approach it the same way you would approach a creche. First morning put them in for an hour or 2 but be available if theyes have any problems settling.

I put 3yo DS in creche when we went on holidays last year. By the 3rd day I was having to drag him away because he was enjoying it so much. It's their holiday too and I'm sure they will enjoy.

I would but be prepared for the kids to not want to go to the club. Went to Spain when DD was 3 and she wouldn't let me leave her in the club at all. She would only go if I was with her. She had been at full time nursery since 18 months so not that she was clingy in any way.

Do they take children as young as 18 months? The holiday club at our hotel we recently went to didn't take children younger than 3.

We first did this in Fiji when our kids were that age. We put them in 9-12pm most days and dashed to the loungers, read books, downed an early pre-lunch cocktail, picked them up, gave them lunch and then put them down for naps.

By the time we were all ready to go to the pool together in the mid-afternoon, everyone was rested and happy to play. It was actual quality time.

Go for it. Reserve the right to see what the Creche is like if you are worried. Mine loved it. Much more fun with other kids than boring old us.

I'd be concerned about the 18mo if I'm honest, how good is the facility and just how well qualified are the staff? UK equivalent qualified? Do you know if they'll accept such young babies? If you're satisfied with the answers you get I'd then go for it, yes.

As long as you don't leave them in an unlocked appartment at night when you go for Tapas , YANBU. As imnottoofussed said, they might not take kindly to being left with strangers but fingers crossed you get some chance to relax.

Have you never left them with childminders, don't your children go to nursery? What's so different with putting them in a club for 3 hours? It's only a short period of your holiday, plenty of time to spend time as a family as well. Have a lovely holiday and enjoy yourselves!

I'm in Menorca at the moment, there is a Thomson run holiday club at our hotel but they only take kids as young as 3.
DS who is 2 wanted to go but they wouldn't let him even if we stayed with him, your youngest might be too young OP

Why don't you want to leave them? They'll have a great time playing with other kids.

A holiday abroad with such young kids is such a tricky thing logistically. I can see the attraction in leaving them in kids clubs but I suspect their very young ages might make it tricky for them to settle. Is your DH prepared to accept that he may not get as much child free time as he is planning?

I absolutely would and have on all our holidays (mainly cruises) the dcs love it and we have to force them out of the clubs as we of course actually want to spend time with them. Having an hour or two to just read or have a massage is amazing and IMO what makes it a holiday for everyone!

Safety standards can be different. I didn't use the holiday club when I went to Spain because it was one lady between 30 kids and the door was often unlocked. I'd spend a few hours with them in there to review everything first if I were you.

Yes, they have a baby crèche too and they are qualified UK nursery nurses.

My 3 year old goes to nursery and little one is in lots of play groups etc.

It is a similar idea to some of those talked about on here. Can leave them 9-12.

I think doing the one hour, then two hours is a good idea. TBH both kids v sociable and love being with others. I just feel urge to lurk outside doors. Ha.

Why on earth would you not use it if it were there? I wouldn't have booked a hotel without a kids club at that age, I want to have a rest on holiday!

Why wouldn't you? They'll be fine, honest just enjoy your spa, it will make you a more relaxed mum.

Yes do it! If it is reputable/good club, don't forget you will need a doctors certificate for the children just before you go saying they are contagion free.

Go for it! I've been looking at places with baby crèches for next year. I didn't leave DS in anything like that when he was a baby/toddler and I really regret it because he turns out to love holiday clubs. I'll be using them as soon as our new baby is old enough.

A doctors note? The travel agent hasn't told us that? Is that the norm?
