Husband can go Eff himself - P***k

Asked my Husband to pick up my prescription yesterday when he finishes work. He comes home in a jolly old mood having finished work early and buggered off to the driving range to fuck about and drink beer.

Me: Did you get my prescription?
Him: Oh no, I forgot
Me: Didn't think you did

Later that night...

Me: I'm off to bed, would you mind grabbing my pills while I wee?
Him: Oh, eurgh you haven't got any more of the ones I was supposed to get...

Ok, so within 24 hours of me not taking my pills I get nasty withdrawal... Nausea, brain zaps (google it), head ache, shaking and flu type stuff. So he has been at work all day, comes home with my prescription and then proceeds to act like a tosser because I have been unwell all day and despite looking after 3 yr old and 1 yr old and doing the housework and running my home business, I should have cooked the dinner to.

AIBU to have fucked him off and shut myself in the bedroom for him to deal with them... and also sending him a shitty whatsapp telling him he is a knob?

hmm can understand that you are annoyed but really if your medication is that vital that missing one day has all of these symptoms do you have to leave it so late to get a repeat? can you not have a spare stash somewhere? I wouldn't trust anyone else to get mine for me and I have a couple of spare inhalers just in case.

AnyFucker · 31/08/2016 19:12

What medication is this ?

tofutti · 31/08/2016 19:13

YANBU. If he can't be arsed to get your pills then you can 'forget' to make dinner.

Is he usually like this?

totalrecall1 · 31/08/2016 19:13

Why did you leave it so late to get the repeat prescription? If you were that desperate for them, could you not have got them yourself, after all as you said he has been at work all day?

YelloDraw · 31/08/2016 19:14

He's annoying but you shouldn't have left it so late of it has such bad withdrawal!

VladmirsPoutine · 31/08/2016 19:15

What sort of meds are you taking?

AyeAmarok · 31/08/2016 19:16

If missing a day leaves you this bad, you need to be more organised!

Omgkitties · 31/08/2016 19:16

Probably wasn't her choice. My pharmacy won't even let me order my repeat until a 4 days before Im due to run out and it takes 3 days to process it all.

LumpyMcBentface · 31/08/2016 19:17

This would happen to me if Dh was a knob. I'm on weeklies and not allowed to pick them up.

If he forgot or was an arse I'd run out as there isn't enough time between prescriptions to pick it up early.

Fortunately he is a diamond and never forgets or fucks off to have fun instead. You have all my sympathy. Kill him.

AnyFucker · 31/08/2016 19:17

I think I've read this thread before

Mari50 · 31/08/2016 19:17

If your withdrawals are that bad you shouldn't ever be getting to a situation where you are picking up a repeat prescription the day the run out. I'm interested to know what medication you are on that has such a short half life as well. . . .

LumpyMcBentface · 31/08/2016 19:18

I would also have horrendous withdrawals within a day, it's happened when I've changed meds.

Antipsychotics and mood stabilisers are hell for this.

I live in a tiny village with no transport so I cant go get them without getting a taxi and taking 2 car seats, so it makes sense for him to grab them on his way home from work.

I ordered them over a week ago, tried to collect Thursday and they didn't have the prescription ready yet, went away from Friday over the weekend and then the Pharmacy and GP were closed Monday for bank holiday.

Yes my meds are important (I take various, including sertraline which is what makes me ill because I have been taking it for like 3 years) and I didn't think I was being unreasonable to think my Husband could remember to pick something important up for me, seeing as he is my Husband :/

Yanbu. If you weren't going out and he was passing a shop on his own, sans kids, I don't see why he should not do it. I remember the days of having to haul kids out of the house to shops. Hassle with a capital H

Babymouse · 31/08/2016 19:19

Maybe it wasn't available until yesterday? I've experienced late meds on repeat before.

I second pp - 'forget' his dinner sometime this week. ;)

Donthateprocreate · 31/08/2016 19:20

you shouldn't ever be getting to a situation where you are picking up a repeat prescription the day the run out. You don't get a choice with some prescriptions. My MIL takes mophine and can't move she's in so much pain if she misses a day but she isn't allowed to pick up until the day she runs out.

It's done to stop over doses or selling it on. You can make mega money selling morphine haha.

LumpyMcBentface · 31/08/2016 19:21

I can't believe everyone's focusing on you being 'disorganised' and not on the fact your husband was a stroppy toddler about not having dinner on the table.

exWifebeginsat40 · 31/08/2016 19:23

a pharmacist will usually help with 3 or so pills in an emergency. couldn't you have gone when your husband first got home once you realised you were out completely?

I think all towns have pharmacies open late for scripts etc. I'm awful if I miss my meds so am very vigilant. your husband does need to get on board with this though.

TheDowagerCuntess · 31/08/2016 19:24

Your husband sounds pretty horrible.

Wheresthattomoibabber · 31/08/2016 19:24

Missing sertraline feels absolutely vile. The fact that you are taking it suggests he should be being extra supportive.

Buzzardbird · 31/08/2016 19:26

I get brain zaps, they are not made up.

Urgh I feel for you, when I run out of sertraline (and it usually is me being disorganised, or skint) I feel like utter shite. Queasy, irritable and completely untethered to reality.

Tatteredlace · 31/08/2016 19:27

Omgkitties my Pharmacy are shit, as are my GP

My Psychiatrist sends a letter to my GP to prescribe my meds, who then send to the pharmacy to dispense. If there is any issues along this seemingly uncomplicated route to me necking 6 pills a day to stay smiley, then I don't get my pills and I am not so smiley.

I wasn't unorganised, I went to pick them up, kids in tow on Thursday, they were not ready... there is nothing I can do about them not being ready, especially as my village like to run at 0.0000001mph for the sake of it. We went away Friday and came back Sunday and everything including the traffic stops on a bank holiday here.

Thanks for the sympathy LumpyMcBentface :)
