I hate the abbreviation 'lil'. Eg 'I love my lil' girl'.
It gives me the rage. For me it is in the same box as 'hun', 'hubby' and 'bubs'.
It's creeping with alarming frequency onto my FB feed.

I am fully prepared to be told IABU, but I don't care Grin

Lush is a West Country thing.

OliviaBensonOnAGoodDay · 29/08/2016 13:54

A friend called me bubs last time I went round there. I nearly crawled out my skin. I actually haven't seen her since!

QueenEnid · 29/08/2016 13:59

MIL referring to our unborn child - soooo excited and can't wait to have a cuddle with babba boo. rage.

KoalaDownUnder · 29/08/2016 14:15

babba boo

Oh sweet jesus

DesolateWaist · 29/08/2016 14:59

I too have come to defend 'lush'.
It's a very common West Country word generally used with the word 'gurt'.

dontpokethebear · 29/08/2016 17:18

I may have been guilty of an occasional 'luff' Blush

fcuk I wonder if we know the same person.... I feel so embarrassed when she comments on anything that I post. I'm not a complete snob i am really

Slightly different, but when my first dc my mum used to refer to him as 'such a precious cargo'

I KNOW this is regional, but also 'liccle', "boccle", "hospical". Just kill me.

ScarletOverkill · 29/08/2016 17:22

Ur all well jel! Grin

ScarletOverkill · 29/08/2016 17:25

My much younger sister is forever writing of Facebook that she is doing things wid other people.
I have to sit on my hands to stop myself correcting her every time

Pearlsofmadness · 29/08/2016 18:34

'This food though'

'These boots though'

'This song though'

AngryAngryAngry

And also 'bae'

'Off out with my bae. Makeup on fleek. #thosebrowsthough' Said by a 30 year old on my Facebook Hmm

KoalaDownUnder · 30/08/2016 01:40

#squad

TheLambShankRedemption · 30/08/2016 02:13

HATE lil so YANBU on that.

For regional words YABU so lush and hospical can stay.

TheLambShankRedemption · 30/08/2016 02:16

Hate wiv too.

Chin chin gets on my nerves too as it's usually accompanying the wine o'clock phrase🙄

TheLambShankRedemption · 30/08/2016 02:17

Too many toos, that's annoying

Tartyflette · 30/08/2016 02:17

desolate but is it lush gurt or gurt lush? (No idea what gurt means, sorry).
Also baffled by bae.

Tartyflette · 30/08/2016 02:19

Chin chin is ok if you're Italian. (Although they spell it cin cin, I think. CF ciao.)

Mouthfulofquiz · 30/08/2016 02:27

Oh no! I've come to defend 'lush' too (West Country) and also Baba Boo. That's what I call my middle child!

TheLambShankRedemption · 30/08/2016 02:40

Chinchin means dick/cock/penis in Japanese so I agree Tarty, fine if you're Italian and spelling it correctly, otherwise it's still on my grr list Grin

Thatsmeinthecorner2016 · 30/08/2016 03:33

"out wiv ma gawjuss bbe 2nyte #meanmyman paint dis town red" 😑

where's the vomit emoji when you need it?

three of my good friends, educated, nice and intelligent love using hun xxx and colourful emojis so I'm trying to keep my judgy pants in the drawer.
They can spell though.

emmantfc · 30/08/2016 03:49

Saw 'iccul' on a Facebook page recently, as in 'August babies are so iccul when they start school' - urgh.

JudgeLionelNutmeg · 30/08/2016 04:29

Nowhere near as vomit inducing as many of the expressions already mentioned but I get the rage at 'posh chocs'

Always used as a suggestion on the 'all the family are away so I've got the house to myself tonight, whatever shall I do to amuse myself? ' threads.

Usually found in conjunction with have a takeaway, then a long bath with candles, then watch a weepy/girly film with a box of posh chocs.

steff13 · 30/08/2016 04:52

I don't like the shortening of some words. "Pressie" for present. If you need a shorter word, try "gift." "Rellie" for relative. If you need a shorter word, "kin" works. I saw a poster use "stinge," instead of stingy. That one isn't even shorter written down. "Comfy" and "uncomfy," also grate.

They're all just so saccharine.

DesolateWaist · 30/08/2016 07:45

desolate but is it lush gurt or gurt lush? (No idea what gurt means, sorry).

Gurt lush. Gurt means big or large but you use is slightly differently. So you would say 'gurt big house' for a very large house but you would say 'gurt house' for a fairly large house.
It can also be used with the word 'sconsin' which is said of an animal or person that big and solid. For example 'look at yon bull. 'ims a sconsin gurt bugger in im'

Mistoffelees · 30/08/2016 07:57

Aholic endings annoy me, shopaholic, chocoholic etc. I have a friend who sends hash tags in normal messages, she'll tell a story then put #sorrynotsorry or #awkward at the end. I totes luff her though so it's all gravy Wink

ItWentInMyEye · 30/08/2016 08:07

I do use the word kin as a shortening for... kin ell Grin
