To lock the bathroom door and make them ask for the key?

Because I am seriously close to losing my temper over the state of the toilet.

The seat is always covered in pee. No matter how many times I have asked them to either lift or wipe the seat, it just doesn't happen. It's 12 year old DS that's the culprit, I'm 99% sure of it. I just used the bathroom straight after him and had to clean the seat first. Again. He denies it.

It's so lazy and disrespectful. I don't exist to wipe up the urine of other people. Unless they are under 5 or something. Three times I've cleaned the toilet today.

I'm considering locking it and keeping the key in my pocket. It's giving me rage.

Call him in to clean it each time. If you clean it he won't learn.

I do. He denies it and I end up shouting. It doesn't help that I'm 9 months pregnant with a prolapse and if I need to pee I have to go straight away, I can't hang around calling him and arguing my point with him. It's incredibly frustrating, I don't understand what's so hard about lifting or wiping the seat - everyone else manages it.

It's made me cry. I'm hot and huge and uncomfortable. I keep peeing myself (as the neighbours will now know as it was included in my shouty rant) and it's just pushed me over the edge

My middle son is the same and it's not always just wee.... Makes me scream. Sometimes I lock the downstairs one so he can't use it but then it's such a palaver to get in (have to use 2p). Then the other kids complain about the upstairs toilet. God, it never ends.

OP, can you get your DP to talk to DS? Man to man.

Poor you that's horrid. Get DH/DP on board to show him how "real men" pee? Assuming DH/DP has respectful toilet habits of course..

I think that's a good idea to lock it and keep the key on you. Can't believe he won't clean up after himself! Shockingly lazy and dirty bugger especially after you have had words about it before!

Next time he goes in, lock him
in. Tell him through the door that you won't let him out til he assures you the loo is clean.

I'd stand over him and watch while he pees until he gets the message.

My DS is 9 and the embarrassment of being accompanied by Mum on every bathroom visit like a toddler was enough to get him to lift the seat, aim properly and wipe any drips up. Turns out he wasn't looking where he was peeing and just staring off into space - could your DS be the same?

I still do occasional random spot checks and pretend I need to get something from the cabinet

12 is terrible to be behaving like that! Tell him e isn't allowed to go to pals houses until he can clean the toilet.

Yes, I have this problem too and I am really tired of it. The trouble is that I have 2 and they always blame the other one and make up random nonsense , 'but I haven't even been to the toilet today', 'but it was already like that when I went in'.....

Tell him to leave the toilet as he's found or you'll take something off him or stop doing something you do for him and follow through with these threats if he doesn't comply.

Take his phone/ x box/ laptop away. C tell him he can have them back when he leaves the bathroom nice .

I really hate that when you clearly show your child what they have done and they still say that it wasn't them, which it always is as I only have one child.

Can you get a pack of Flash wipes or something and ask him to wipe the toilet after each use and then dispose of the wipe?

Is your DS doing something else while weeing that means he is missing the target?

I know that sounds gross but I have noticed that some men think that it is acceptable to look at their phone while they are weeing so they aren't concentrating and wee everywhere.

Sorry for being a bit gross but it is a gross subject.

I know you shouldn't have to for a 12 year old (or for a grown man... but buy some of those targets for them. You can even get heat sensitive ones.

YANBU - with us it is skid marks that are the issue. Aiming has never been problem, I think because we are Jewish, but this solution may be too drastic for OP.....
