If your going to post an uninformed Facebook meme and try and make out its some intelligent response that, if we where only so enlightened we could see the 'real story', then yeah expect an smarmy response.

Stagecoach own 90 percent of the East coat mainline, and even more interestingly,49 percent of virgin rail as a whole!

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 24/08/2016 22:18

Just seen the news so he was looking for two seats together

So he would rather would sit on the dirty floor down with the ordinary people video opportunity than sit apart from his wife

Can he be anymore pathetic

Justanotherlurker · 24/08/2016 22:26

Just seen the news so he was looking for two seats together

Something only put out now he's been caught out trying to do some PR spin, none the less...

Ive read today that even Bernie Sanders has said that the call of good luck/congratulations are false, Corbyn has become a cult much the same as trump, the comparisons are quite clear

smallfox2002 · 24/08/2016 22:28

Corbyn has to go to be fair.

Do feel a bit sorry for him, but then you have to be responsible for the team you appoint.

natwebb79 · 24/08/2016 22:29

Thank you, Just. With all due respect if you're going to be a bit twatty on a chat forum and question a person's intelligence over something they pasted as something that may be considered in a casual discussion then you may wish to check your basic literacy ('you're', 'it's', 'were').

There you go, we can all be pretentious twots on AIBU.

OyWithThePoodles · 24/08/2016 22:29

'Whataboutism regarding bores has no place in this discussion and is a poor play on tribalism' ... thanks, but I THINK this is a public forum not a classroom and we all get to decide for ourselves what has a place in this discussion. Hmm

smallfox2002 · 24/08/2016 22:31

I certainly think on a forum discussion when we are discussing someone being exposed as a liar, we can point to other politicians who are bona fide liars too!

Especially as those enjoying this so much root for the side that these confirmed liars represent.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 24/08/2016 22:47

All mp's should be pulled up when caught out lying who is going to deny this

For many Corbyn supporters it just seems inconceivable that he has lied. he hasn't held his hands up and said we gave a dishonest account so no not really a different type of politics and isn't that what he is supposed to be about

Maybe he can join the magic circle now 😆

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 24/08/2016 22:48

I don't and never have voted Tory

Always voted labour

But I shall not vote for labour while Corbyn is leader

NNChangeAgain · 24/08/2016 22:50

Especially as those enjoying this so much root for the side that these confirmed liars represent

So that would be whom, exactly?

Tory supporters? Labour supporters who don't support JC? UKIP Supporters? SNP supporters?

There are a lot of the grass roots who are openly or secretly "enjoying" the daily discomfort of JC and his team.

Interestingly, those actually involved in politics of all persuasions - active party members, Cllrs, MPs - all recognise how damaging this is for democracy. The country needs a viable opposition.

And, with Tom Watson strengthening his position within the party (he's expanding his core advisory team) and his position being secure from the whims of the Leadership, I doubt that the Conference will be the end of the party split. I wouldn't bet against TW being the next Labour PM, but it will be at least a decade hence.

Corbyn decided to accept the position of Party Leader despite the controversy surrounding his appointment, and has chosen to openly and significantly change the way in which the party is led. It is inevitable that he would face scrutiny. He and his team are demonstrating that they are not up to the task of withstanding that.

cardibach · 24/08/2016 22:51

Have you gat an actual reason for that, Enthusiasm ? I'd be interested to know what might make you change your entire political viewpoint.

smallfox2002 · 24/08/2016 22:53

I don't think it'll take a decade, remember the William Hague/IDS/Michael Howard era?

It was a very small majority, far smaller than any of the above had to challenge.

However Corbyn is not the man to do it. Owen Smith might be, and he has my vote.

clam · 24/08/2016 22:57

Jeremy Corbyn is the best thing to happen to the Tory party in a long time.

clam · 24/08/2016 23:02

I also didn't like how he presented today's amended version of events almost smugly: "Because I wanted to sit with my wife! " as if that excused his previous misrepresentation of the facts. Most people's response to that would be, "So what? Tough titties."

NNChangeAgain · 24/08/2016 23:04

cardi Over the last 12 months, the Labour Party has changed its entire political viewpoint.

Members of the PLP who were nominated by their local branches, supported during their campaigns and voted in are now being rejected, receiving votes of no confidence and being deselected.

It's not a surprise that long standing Labour voters are saying that the 'new' Labour Party is not one they can support.

There is a survey linked to upthread, that I keep referring back to, which indicates that half of those people who voted labour at the last election do not support JC. He undoubtedly has support, but it's not from traditional labour voters. He has attracted new supporters, but at the expense of longstanding support.
It remains to be seen whether the strength of new support is sufficient to replace the support that has been lost.

NNChangeAgain · 24/08/2016 23:08

clam Whether he was sitting on the floor reading a comic, or sitting in a seat chatting with his wife, what he wasn't planning on doing was using the travelling time to do work for the good of his constituents or members that he is being paid for.

clam · 24/08/2016 23:11

Ironically, he'd have had a better chance of using the time for constituency work if he'd taken up the guard's offer of upgrading to First Class!

OyWithThePoodles · 24/08/2016 23:13

He used at least some of the travelling time to talk to members of the public. Us. Pretty important work I'd say. Don't remember politicians doing much of that until now.

NNChangeAgain · 24/08/2016 23:21

He used at least some of the travelling time to talk to members of the public. Us. Pretty important work I'd say. Don't remember politicians doing much of that until now.

But he missed the train he had reservations on because he was 'talking to the public' so left his previous engagement later than planned.

That may (according to a PP) have cost the tax payer a significant amount in unused advance rail tickets.

Engaging with the public is an important part of the job but not at the expense of other responsibilities. JC has been widely quoted as saying he doesn't stay in his office as that's how a "crisis finds you". Someone needs to remind him that it's part of his job to deal with the crisis.

clam · 24/08/2016 23:21

Didn't Gordon Brown chat to some elderly voters just before the 2010 election? Oh, wait...

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 24/08/2016 23:22

There is nothing that will make me change my mind as you can not change his past or his stance his incompetence is irrelevant but highlights what a useless politician he is

Corbyn attend memorials of IRA terrorists to show solidarity he was never part of the peace process no matter how much his pr team try to spin it and this was long before the ceasefire. His connections with Hamas and Hezbollah were nothing about bringing peace if it was what about his contacts with left wing parties in Israel that also are against the occupied territories? no he doesn't have any as he would rather side with those that are anti American/UK the west and want Israel to be destroyed

He is quite happy to share a platform (only last year) with the UK representative of a militia group who have killed many British soldiers. Again no negotiating taking place it was to celebrate an anniversary of Iran's revolution one that has bought much misery to millions of people

There is more. Coming up to a general election all will be printed but it's all out there

How can anyone possibly believe he could sit around an international table and discuss peace when his stance has been so anti US/UK/the West

He will never ever be PM

OyWithThePoodles · 24/08/2016 23:25

'That may (according to a PP) have cost the tax payer a significant amount in unused advance rail tickets'. Oh come on. This is desperate stuff. Bye!

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 24/08/2016 23:30

The thing was Corbyn could do all this when he was a back bencher, it was no doubt annoying to those in the cabinet/shadow cabinet but he was of no real significance just a thorn in the parties side predictable as he always rebelled but nothing to really concern those who were busy working at running the country or opposition

But now his history and his connections are of extreme importance

smallfox2002 · 24/08/2016 23:37

Funny how connections only come out when it's a left winger, the nice liberal Saudis a and Kuwaitis are fine, oh and the reason we hado a revolution in Iran? Well that would be Churchill and others staging a coupe to put in an oppressive regime that did so much damage that people rose up and got rid of them.

With the IRA? Well, the British army were shooting people, innocents, at the time.

Not one mention of the tory backing of apartheid? That corbyn opposed ?

He won't win, but there are just as many undesirable things if not more that we can pull out.
Cherry picking facts does you no favours.
