What does NCS mean?

EastMidsMummy · 21/08/2016 10:19

Jesus hates latecomers.

ThatsMyStapler · 21/08/2016 10:25

Of course it's rude

I don't know what NCS is, but if dd1 can't be ready on time, then she makes her own way

Why didn't you sort this out yesterday and tell the working DD she needed to be ready at X time or make her own way to work? & church DD to be ready at X if she wanted taking?

Rude to be late anywhere due to complete lack of organisation.

herecomesthsun · 21/08/2016 10:47

Cradle Catholic here. I grew up in North London. At the church we went to, a lot of the men would go to the Rising Sun for a beer and then file in around Communion time and then straight back out to the pub. The Communion bit, you see, being the whole point of going to church.

I would not be worried myself by lateness, but I might be an anomaly there.

What is NCS?

herecomesthsun · 21/08/2016 10:49

National Citizen Service maybe?

Why would you have to go to church for that, if so?

kali110 · 21/08/2016 11:00

If she's going for a certain purpose then i think it's really bad going in late.

ilovesooty · 21/08/2016 11:12

I think the daughter going to work should have gone early or made her own way there.

InfiniteCurve · 21/08/2016 11:15

Why are the NCS having a church service???

treaclesoda · 21/08/2016 11:16

The churches I have attended always close the doors after the service starts, so you wouldn't get in half an hour late. I don't think it's to prevent people getting in though, it's to prevent them leaving Wink. As I found to my horror when a fellow member of the congregation lost consciousness once and I tried to leave to ring an ambulance only to find that I couldn't Hmm

Scaredycat3000 · 21/08/2016 11:17

Personally I hold no truck with 'do what the fuck you like, God won't mind' like God is some sort of Uncle in an old peoples home grateful for scraps of attention and rudeness to people doesn't count. Yes the xtian god, the biggest attention seeker of all time, created a world to worship him, when we didn't worship him up to his standard he punished us and holds Armageddon over us constantly.
But I don't get this idea that 'well they are Christians so obviously its FINE to do whatever, they have to accept it or they are hypocrites' that appears to be underlying the OP's question.
Let me explain then. Xtains are hypocrites who claim moral supremacy, it's gets a bit annoying after a while but we are not allowed to criticize, hence underlying.
OP no great to be late, but at least you're doing your best.

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 21/08/2016 11:24

I feel like a philistine, but what's an xtian?

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 21/08/2016 11:27

I think Christian.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 21/08/2016 11:31

Xmas= Christmas so I'm guessing
Xtain= Christian?

SoupDragon · 21/08/2016 11:56

Let me explain then

Did you mean to say "let me give you opinion"

And are you really too lazy to type out "Christian"?

SoupDragon · 21/08/2016 11:57

let me give you my opinion

midcenturymodern · 21/08/2016 11:58

It's got nothing to do with Armageddon. The kid isn't a churchgoer. She isn't going for God, she is going to meet some sort of obligation to the NCS thing and the actual humans who run it and have presumably organised some sort of NCS presence at this service. That's why 'God won't mind' is a total irrelevance, not because God shouldn't mind and if he does you shouldn't care because he's an attention seeking dickhead.

springwaters · 21/08/2016 12:06

NCS isn't Christian. It is a national programme for 16-18 year olds and it is fab. You do volunteering as part of it.

Given it is NCS which is meant to promote responsibility your daughter should get herself there.

Yes it is incredibly rude You cant just go in. You have to wait for an appropriate point and then sneak in at the back. That means that she wont be with the rest of NCS.

Why thank you MrsDeVere. I do my best. Having been brought up in a xtain household I was taught pretentiousness and condescension very well.

Pendu · 21/08/2016 12:29

Drop one early. If they are old enough to do NCS (no idea what it is) and work, they are old enough to get up and get ready earlier surely ? No brainer.

PurpleDaisies · 21/08/2016 12:30

Surely the op will have already been by now?

HighwayDragon1 · 21/08/2016 12:50

How old are the dds? Can the one who needs to work make their own way to work?

fastdaytears · 21/08/2016 13:02

I love that we're all trying to figure this out at 1pm when everyone is home from church!
