Wibu to have scratched this car?

Taking dtwins out in our double stroller, cars parked right on the pavement , can't walk on the road, too much traffic. Was I unreasonable to force my pram though, scratching one of the bigger cars in the process?

OP posts:

I don't think YWBU, OP.
I do park on the pavement sometimes. The parking where I live can be a nightmare (at edge of permit zone so anyone who doesn't want to buy a permit and doesn't move their car much can park at my street where there is no permit but I can't buy a permit to allow me to park in the permit streets as apparently I am not a local resident).
There is an area which has occasional spaces and few restrictions but in order to keep the road passable (for one car width) two-wheel pavement parking is the only way and that's what everyone does. I'd have thought the LA would have put double lines on one side of the street as if the cars don't park half on the pavement the road would be blocked but no. I always check to make sure a reasonable space has been left on the pavement but ultimately I know I am encroaching on pedestrian space. I think that means I have to suck it up if my car is damaged by the reasonable actions of someone which is made potentially more vulnerable by my action and I don't think you were unreasonable.

What a thoroughly horrible thing to do. It disgusts me

I presume OP and her kids getting hit by a car whilst walking on the road to pass the parked car would not disgust you then?
So now it's horrible to walk on the pavement but not to park on a pavement?

WordGetsAround · 17/08/2016 22:14

YWNBU.

Diddlydokey · 17/08/2016 22:16

Both equally idiotic and guilty imo

Who raises these people?!

Diddlydokey · 17/08/2016 22:18

There are places where there are no pavements. You take your time and go carefully. That is your solution - use your eyes and ears.

Fuck off. I would never have walked along a road with a pushchair that didn't have a pavement because I would have considered that too dangerous.
Some roads are far too busy for that to be safe.
What about disabled people? Do you think wheelchair users and visually impaired or hearing impaired people should have to follow your sage advice?
Why the fuck should anyone EVER have to walk in the road because there is a car on the pavement!?
Cars belong on the road. The pavement is for pedestrians.

Binkybix · 17/08/2016 22:46

YANBU. You were just walking on the path - it's not your fault some twat had parked on it.

It really pisses me off and while I wouldn't deliberately scratch one I wouldn't feel bad if I did.

I also don't really understand why people really care about cosmetic scratches. It's just a car.

acquiescence · 17/08/2016 22:47

I agree with you OP. People who park massive cars on the pavement seem to think their cars are more important than the safety of vulnerable people (babies or disabled people). So of course they should expect their cars to get scratched if they don't allow room for the pavement to be used as it is intended. It is their choice.

Vvlgari · 17/08/2016 22:58

Goady cunts are goady.

EddieStobbart · 17/08/2016 23:00

Who's the goady cunt?

Bumbledumb · 17/08/2016 23:03

My car is a means of transport which gets me from point A to point B. I couldn't care less if got scratched accidentally. I would still never park illegally.

justanothermnuser · 17/08/2016 23:08

I can see from both perspectives here but YWDBU.

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 17/08/2016 23:12

Goady cunts are goady.

Why? Are you one of these people who parks on a pavement, just because you can & will?.

TerrificHons · 17/08/2016 23:18

The OP is a a goady cunt. HTH. All you idiots getting up in arms defending a troll who hasn't returned to the thread need to knock your heads together.

Alleycat1 · 17/08/2016 23:24

I am not surprised the op hasn't returned to the thread considering the amount of spite and venom that has been directed at her by some posters!

Ohbehave1 · 17/08/2016 23:25

Ha ha ha. Goady post that gets people to say that it is ok to commit criminal damage. Because that's what it is folks. If you deliberately scratch a car it is simply criminal damage.

Alleycat1 · 17/08/2016 23:26

She didn't say it was deliberate.

Ohbehave1 · 17/08/2016 23:27

Binkybix. Regardless of the rights and wrongs of parking or scratching cars how can you not see what people get upset? It is the next biggest investment you will make after your house. So if someone knocks hundreds of pounds of the value of it of course you will get upset!

TerrificHons · 17/08/2016 23:27

YY alleycat poor, poor OP get a fucking grip

Ohbehave1 · 17/08/2016 23:29

Alleycat. She forced her way through. I am
Not saying that the car driver is in the right but if you force your way through it is pretty obvious you are going to scratch it. Therefore it is a deliberate act.

TerrificHons · 17/08/2016 23:30

It didn't happen anyway.

Ohbehave1 · 17/08/2016 23:31

That's true triffic lol.

Alleycat1 · 17/08/2016 23:31

Blah, blah Terrific. It would have been poor op if she had gone out onto the busy road and she and or her children had been injured, or worse. People are more important than cars however expensive.

EddieStobbart · 17/08/2016 23:33

Why is this turning into a bun fight? Does anyone really give that much of a shit? If it was about keying cars because someone pissed you off then the OP would be a twat but I thought the situation here was quite interesting given I park like this sometimes and I know it could cause inconvenience. Have seen far goadier than this.

NeedAnotherGlass · 17/08/2016 23:34

Goady cunt or not, I've done the same thing.
It was never my intention to cause damage to a car, but I have barged past with no regard to whether the pushchair would scratch the car or not.
My only concern was continuing along the pavement with my children safely. If a car that was parked blocking the pavement got scratched in the process - tough, shouldn't have parked there.
