So I've heard it's a thing (started by kylie Jenner Blush) in America now to write about what you put in your 'ramen'. As far as I can tell, Ramen to Americans is supernoodles to the Brits.

I fucking love supernoodles. And I've just come up with the most beautiful combination.

So I'm a few glasses of wine down, and put myself a chicken Kiev and chips on (classy). When the chips come out, I realise they're crinkle cut. I have some weird aversion to crinkle cut chips dating back to childhood when I threw up in a friends mums car (the shame! She forced me to eat them though so whatever).

Anyway, I'm upstairs disappointed that I'm going to have to attempt to stomach these inferior chips as I have no other carb based objects to accompany my Kiev. Suddenly, I remember the noodles! Yes, I think - I've found my perfect pairing.

But then, when everything's ready I take the Kiev/ chips combo out of the oven, and thought I better give one a try, to test the decade long aversion. By golly, the chip is beautiful.

But what to do? I'm tipsy, and I'm faced with two wonderful carbohydrate options.

I'm sure you can guess by now what I did. I chopped the chips into small bits and smothered them in balsamic (no malt but I'd actually recommend this), garlic salt and pepper, the chicken Kiev got similar chopping, I chucked it all into the noodles (along with the seeping garlic butter), a tin of sweetcorn, plenty of grated cheddar mixed in with lots on top too. and extra pepper.

Disgusting and decadent? Yes. Best meal I've ever had? Definitely in the top 10.

Potato smiles in a buttered bap, I'll be back in a bit Grin

Curry supernoodles, cooked with a handful of frozen peas and some stray prawns. Food of the poor, not terribly pretentious Gods.

Best hangover cure I've found yet is a lovely soft white cob filled with supernoodles, better than any fry up Grin

I'm gutted you can't get the mushroom ones anymore. Sad

Mushroom super noodles were the mainstay of my university cuisine.

My 4 year old DD loves super noodles, she's eat them morning noon and night if she could. She has them as a treat for her supper every Friday but I end up eating half of them whilst they're cooking they're so moorish Blush

I vote for nissin demae noodles aswell.

Yummy with frankfurters and fried egg on top. Original Sesame flavour is best but runners up are black garlic or tonkotsu.

Dh's family and community (cantonese) all call them doll noodle or gung sai min.

Dh and i went to the Nissin museum on my honeymoon. Tells the whole story of how the guy invented instant noodles. You can go make your own flavour pot noodle on one floor and dh and I were very lucky to be offered a go (cos other people had not turned up) to make our own instant noodles from scratch in their show kitchens including personalising the packaging too! If you ever go to Osaka I recommend this day out. Also the canteen had instant noodle vending machines with very rare noodle combos you can't get anywhere else.

Noodles are food of the gods and like all the finest ingredients which should speak for themselves, they must be served alone. They must be curried and served in an old manky Tupperware. My favourite are these Lidl curried beauties. Since low-carbing, I have forgone curried noodles. Might have to make a weekend exception.

What is wrong with you people?! This all sounds horrendous....

What you want is BBQ Beef super noodles.

In a pitta.

With a tin of tuna, mayo and sweetcorn on top.

The only way to eat super noodles.

Lorelei76 · 15/09/2016 23:24

New things to,learn...must look up shin cup.

Yes I only liked the beef and the mushroom.

Has anyone actually seen the prawn one, the southern fried chicken one...I see a poster mentioned peppered steak seen at b & m but I don't have one of those.

It's so weird, I only got into eating these when feeling a bit ill bit ever since this thread started I've suddenly craved them though I feel fine.

Never tried other brands, hated pot noodles. I mostly shop at Aldi, I'll see what they have. I think I did see bacon flavour today, I like bacon but does it translate well to noodle flavour?

Such serious matters Grin

I am now craving super noodles. May have to pop to the shop before lunchtime tomorrow!

Lorelei76 · 19/09/2016 22:27

Today I had to come home from work via a different route as my usual one was t working
Annoying but on this other route, There's a huge tesco
Aha, I said to myself, now they must have interesting noodles flavours

There was one pack of the steak flavour left!! And two of the southern fried chicken.
These things are clearly in higher demand than I thought...

I also noticed that the oriental food aisle had loads of brands of what frankly just look like super noodles. So not just us who are getting well into the noodles....!

You just know I'm going to eat the steak flavour, love them and never be able to find them again.
