So I've heard it's a thing (started by kylie Jenner Blush) in America now to write about what you put in your 'ramen'. As far as I can tell, Ramen to Americans is supernoodles to the Brits.

I fucking love supernoodles. And I've just come up with the most beautiful combination.

So I'm a few glasses of wine down, and put myself a chicken Kiev and chips on (classy). When the chips come out, I realise they're crinkle cut. I have some weird aversion to crinkle cut chips dating back to childhood when I threw up in a friends mums car (the shame! She forced me to eat them though so whatever).

Anyway, I'm upstairs disappointed that I'm going to have to attempt to stomach these inferior chips as I have no other carb based objects to accompany my Kiev. Suddenly, I remember the noodles! Yes, I think - I've found my perfect pairing.

But then, when everything's ready I take the Kiev/ chips combo out of the oven, and thought I better give one a try, to test the decade long aversion. By golly, the chip is beautiful.

But what to do? I'm tipsy, and I'm faced with two wonderful carbohydrate options.

I'm sure you can guess by now what I did. I chopped the chips into small bits and smothered them in balsamic (no malt but I'd actually recommend this), garlic salt and pepper, the chicken Kiev got similar chopping, I chucked it all into the noodles (along with the seeping garlic butter), a tin of sweetcorn, plenty of grated cheddar mixed in with lots on top too. and extra pepper.

Disgusting and decadent? Yes. Best meal I've ever had? Definitely in the top 10.

If you're a fellow supernoodle lover, please follow in the great KJ's footsteps and share your best recipes Grin

I Loves loves loves, did I say loves noodles.
Koka noodles are the nicest.
Full of flavour only 25p.
What's not to love.
Noodle butties are just ridiculously devine.

Off to room 101 with Bachelor's noodles so bland.

thetoothfairywhoforgot · 16/08/2016 02:40

DD calls them super-duper-noodles. It has stuck in this house!

I am a classic super noodler.

White toast; chicken supernoodkes with ham chopped through on top; cheese grated over.

Simple and perfect.

Chicken supernoodles on their own are the perfect hangover food.

I want some now

RepRoyalty · 16/08/2016 21:25

Aren't super noddles, just noodles? I thought you just dumped it all in hot water and ate it, I didn't realise that people actually cooked it with other ingredients Blush

I always assumed they were emergency food, like it's the middle of the night, you can't drive to a shop, their's absolutely nothing to eat that won't take ages to cook, so you eat some noodles.

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 16/08/2016 21:29

Supernoodles may seem like they are related to a lovely bowl of ramen soup with toppings but they are not. It's a ludicrous comparison. The ramen soup is proper food; supernoodles are glorious crap food.

I like the bacon ones with toast. Or the mild curry. I never have them though due to them being in the same category as pot noodles (but so much more delicious).

LurkyLurkerMcLurkface · 16/08/2016 21:33

Oh supernoodles. How I love you. The chicken one. With crab sticks, and chopped courgette, and tons of chilli flakes. Covered in mature cheddar, mixed in and then covered again.
But I cannot have you SadSadSad
I'm BF my dairy allergic DS (and there's milk powder in the sauce mix). As soon as he's weaned I'm going to have this for every meal Grin

BolshierAryaStark · 16/08/2016 21:43

Ooooohhh, I had bbq beef ones yesterday for a quick lunch-wacked them on some bread, bloody heaven let me tell you.

WilLiAmHerschel · 16/08/2016 21:50

Curry supernoodles, chop up some green chilli's and mix together.

One of my favourite meals.

Buscake · 16/08/2016 22:03

Oh fuck me I want some super noodles now! When I was a student they were the pricy option 😂 Would more often opt for €0.40 Koka ones (sorry to above Kokaists but they don't come close to super noodles!)

dudsville · 16/08/2016 22:09

Ok, so not super noodle, not sure ice had that, BUT this thread has decided my lunch for tomorrow. I have a roasted breast of chicken in the fridge. Veg that can be finely chopped. Soy sauce. Fresh chilies. Fresh ginger. Frozen peas and frozen sweetcorn. Dried noodles. .. I might have to have this for breakfast!

Geekmama · 16/08/2016 22:25

Curry supernoodles with Philadelphia and chopped up spring onions....,, amazing Grin

Buscake · 16/08/2016 22:29

Ah guys you're killing me here. I have normal boring noodles. How can I super them up? Stock cube + chilli sauce?? It's not going to have that msg hit though is it...grumble grumble...

Buscake · 16/08/2016 22:42

I resorted to a doorstep slice of toast with half a packet of butter on it, so it'll have to wait for another night..

MistressoftheYoniverse · 16/08/2016 23:02

Something happened to SN...the taste changed not nice...but I love Maggi Chicken Noodles from Iceland 5 packs for £1...in a bowl with boiling water..add flavouring sprinkled on top first then black pepper, sprinkle of chilli add water and then swirl of soy sauce cover with cling film...seriously nice and quick...grate cheese on top under the grill ...lovely..but great as an accompaniment to anything...

Eminybob · 17/08/2016 06:52

Buscake If I just have plain noodles in, I add soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar and five spice to make a homemade Chinesey super noodle.

gaggiagirl · 17/08/2016 14:08

Peppered steak supernoodles are 29p in b&m
You are welcome.

Lorelei76 · 15/09/2016 19:42

I remembered this thread and popped into Sainsbury as I had a bit of a craving....

they didn't have any of the interesting flavours I saw online - peppered steak, prawn, southern fried chicken.

I might have to find a Tesco and see if they have them....

WappersReturns · 15/09/2016 19:51

Pfft! I see your noodles and raise you... Pasta 'N' Sauce, cheese and broccoli flavour made with only milk and no water with a big knob of butter. Oh ye gods. I can't even buy them any more due to lack of self control Blush

Lorelei76 · 15/09/2016 19:54

Wapper, sorry I don't like those!

I have to go out now so if anyone makes any helpful suggestions on finding the good flavours, I'm not ignoring you but I am expecting a late one...though of course it might mean I come home and log on while eating very late supper of super noodles....!

Augustbaby22 · 15/09/2016 20:16

Ohhh bacon super noodles are the best! I haven't had them in ages! I lived off of them when dd was a newborn as she cried if I put her down and they were quick and easy when she would finally sleep, although after having them 3 nights in a row i had a very dodgy stomach. I haven't had them for a few months after that incident Grin

Oysterbabe · 15/09/2016 20:29

When I was a student I used to have chicken supernoodles mixed with a tin of baked beans. It's amazing.
I rediscovered supernoodles while pregnant. Perfect if you're feeling a bit queasy.

Planty18 · 15/09/2016 20:31

Oh no, I'm going to have to eat some now! I've had them about 6 times since this thread Blush

SpookyPotato · 15/09/2016 20:39

My teenager years were basically either plates of potato smiles or beef supernoodles in a heavily buttered bap Grin I love them and never liked pot noodle half as much!

sleepachu · 15/09/2016 20:42

why has no one mentioned shin cups?! by far the best instant noodles. really spicy and pretty filling. absolute best snack ever. I put cooked chicken breast in sometimes to make it feel more of a meal
