So I've heard it's a thing (started by kylie Jenner Blush) in America now to write about what you put in your 'ramen'. As far as I can tell, Ramen to Americans is supernoodles to the Brits.

I fucking love supernoodles. And I've just come up with the most beautiful combination.

So I'm a few glasses of wine down, and put myself a chicken Kiev and chips on (classy). When the chips come out, I realise they're crinkle cut. I have some weird aversion to crinkle cut chips dating back to childhood when I threw up in a friends mums car (the shame! She forced me to eat them though so whatever).

Anyway, I'm upstairs disappointed that I'm going to have to attempt to stomach these inferior chips as I have no other carb based objects to accompany my Kiev. Suddenly, I remember the noodles! Yes, I think - I've found my perfect pairing.

But then, when everything's ready I take the Kiev/ chips combo out of the oven, and thought I better give one a try, to test the decade long aversion. By golly, the chip is beautiful.

But what to do? I'm tipsy, and I'm faced with two wonderful carbohydrate options.

I'm sure you can guess by now what I did. I chopped the chips into small bits and smothered them in balsamic (no malt but I'd actually recommend this), garlic salt and pepper, the chicken Kiev got similar chopping, I chucked it all into the noodles (along with the seeping garlic butter), a tin of sweetcorn, plenty of grated cheddar mixed in with lots on top too. and extra pepper.

Disgusting and decadent? Yes. Best meal I've ever had? Definitely in the top 10.

If you're a fellow supernoodle lover, please follow in the great KJ's footsteps and share your best recipes Grin

Chicken super noodles with chopped onion, ham and grated cheese added in for the last couple of minutes cooking. Yum.

Owlytellsmesecrets · 15/08/2016 22:38

pud1 · 15/08/2016 22:44

Lidls super noodles are like super noodles before bachelors buggered about with them

SaggyNaggy · 15/08/2016 22:46

Supernoodles are fucking garbage, I wouldn't wipe the arse of a hobo in a trailer car with Supernoodles. Even typing it makes me feel dirty and used... Urrggghh.... I spit on your super noodles, vile things,

Can ypou tell I don't like them?

zhx3 has alrewady shown the holy grail of instant noodles.
Nissin Ramen Noodles.

If super noodles were a car, they'd be the broken down Vuxhall Nova, Nissin would be the chauffeur driven stretched limo with a free mini bar and a wide-screen TV.

Noodles.... Serious business... Grin

boo2410 · 15/08/2016 22:54

Tescos own chicken super noodles for me with a ball of mozzarella torn into pieces on top. Been I'll recently and totally off meat, thought of eating it makes me feel ill, although might tolerate some chopped ham in it, must try. Either way I bloody love them and would eat them every night. Long Live the Super Noodle!

Zhx3 · 15/08/2016 23:05

Now I want noodles. They are up there on my "possible last meals" list. Not Supernoodles, mind.

Can we extend this thread to include great noodle restaurants we know of? I will start with Big Bowl Noodle in Liverpool.

PerpetualStudent · 15/08/2016 23:09

This is making me nostalgic for my first year at uni, where a regular dinne would be tesco value noodles with chopped slices of ham and pepper. Cuz the pepper makes it healthly innt

TheGruffaloMother · 15/08/2016 23:11

I second super noodle sandwiches. Must have lashings of butter. Even better if it's chicken noodles with pieces of chicken and added cheddar or mozerella. Maybe some spring onions.

Banana99 · 15/08/2016 23:11

pud1 love lidl own SN!! 19p too

FlyHighLittleBee · 15/08/2016 23:13

Toast? Mozzerella? Poached egg? Fried leeks? A completely different brand of noodle altogether you heathens?

I am loving your work, fellow supernoodlers. I'll be testing all your suggestions. (Strictly for research purposes and the greater good of mankind, obviously).

If noones said it yet...
Try mixing cheap supermarket cup a soups with nissin ramen.
Just mix the soup with the right amount t of water, pour over noodles, microwave for 90swxonds, top up with a little mor cold water, microwave for another 90seconds.

A gorgeous snack for less than 60p a person. Grin

ALemonyPea · 15/08/2016 23:27

Chow mein supernoodles with extra strong cheddar grated over and mixed through. Food of the gods I tell you.

KittensWithWeapons · 15/08/2016 23:30

Chicken Super Noodles piled on to a slice of heavily buttered white bread. Or curry Koka noodles, just unadulterated and on their own.

Zhx, that is a savage looking fried egg. Is the yolk nice and runny? Mmmm.

Lonnysera · 15/08/2016 23:37

I have found my people!Grin

But you're doing it wrong. Take the cooked super noodles and fry in a pan with a bit of whatever shit needs finishing - ham, cutted up bacon, bit of veg (you don't have to eat the veg, it's just for colour.) Remove and stir a big glob of sweet chilli sauce through it.

Cures all ills. Fact.

ladybird69 · 15/08/2016 23:44

Yes I have found my people.
Noodle sandwiches, curry ideally, with brown bread and thickly buttered, so that it oozes out everywhere then mop up with the crusts. 😞 my cupboards are empty now I am starving like old hank Marvin lol. Gotta have to go and make some interesting supper up now. praying for no food poisoning.
Marrowfat peas and brown sauce sandwiches
Polony and salad cream sandwiches white bread only. Who needs oysters and cavier yuk tasted both and brought them straight back up!!!

Tiredbutfuckingfine · 15/08/2016 23:45

Traditional scouse Koka noodle recipes

  1. Noodle buttie - thick sliced white bread, butter and noodles
  2. Curry beef noodles- go to the chippy and buy chips and curry. Cook beef noodles and pour curry over. Serve with chips and thick sliced white bread and butter
  3. Egg fried noodle- crack an egg in a frying pan and add cooked noodles
  4. Chicken noodle soup - cook the chicken noodles in too much water, add flavouring, serve in a soup bowl. Eat fast before they go blurgh
Koka chicken noodles are vegetarian :)

We on this thread are bonded by life!
I've had vino so sticking to cold meat for health and safety issues, but tomorrow it will be good old hangover food. I luffs you all hic Grin

blueshoes · 15/08/2016 23:47

I am the connoisseur of instant noodles. I never buy from the usual supermarkets, only Chinese supermarkets with huge selections.

KittensWithWeapons · 15/08/2016 23:50

Lonny, that sounds delicious!

ladybird, I adore marrowfat peas. And brown sauce. DP is a weirdo, he thinks they are both disgusting. Never tried them in a sambo but will have to give that a go. I do love leftover marrowfats and gravy shoved in a leftover Yorkshire pudding. Ideally for breakfast the morning after a roast Wink.

KittensWithWeapons · 15/08/2016 23:52

Ha, same here ladybird Grin. I have super noodles and crappy white bread in my possession. That may be tomorrow's hangover brekkie BlushGrin.

Zhx3 · 16/08/2016 00:10

Kittens, the yolk was gorgeously runny. I was pg too, but clearly not with pfb! I had gyoza in the freezer but couldn't wait any longer before troughing the lot Grin.

KittensWithWeapons · 16/08/2016 00:15

Oh Zhx, a proper lovely runny yolk. Drool. And gyoza. I adore gyoza. You're killing me! I need food now!

Redglitter · 16/08/2016 02:26

I haven't had Super noodles for ages. Ended up having some when I saw this thread. Forgot how bloody amazing they are

RattataPidgeyRattataPidgey · 16/08/2016 02:33

In a vaguely similar vein, I LOVE Heinz tinned pasta shapes in tomato sauce on top of chips, with lots of salt added. Ideally the pasta shapes with the little sausages mixed in, but no problem if not.
