sartra · 14/08/2016 19:03

Has anyone said Hector?

Twopennyduck · 14/08/2016 19:10

Silas
Cassius
Columbus
Basil

Thewrongcheesegrommit · 14/08/2016 19:17

Didn't op say pretentious, not posh?

Anyway, I was told just last night that most of the names on my boys list are pretentious.. that exact word. It includes:
Pip
Atticus
Bespin
Gage
Barton
Cap

I have a Teddy (Theodore) we're not remotely posh!!

Thewrongcheesegrommit · 14/08/2016 19:18

Ok, she said posh/pretentious. I take it back.

BubblestarUK · 14/08/2016 19:19

The lady who used to live opposite us had five children. 4 boys, Fletcher, Octavious, Emmerson and Columbus. And one girl, Nel. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with many other posh names but these are rather good :)

Choccywoccyhooha · 14/08/2016 19:28

Balthazar
Bartholomew (Barty)
Fitzroy
Beauchamp
Arturo
Humphrey
Ranulph
Rainier

User2016 · 14/08/2016 19:30

Pretentious top trump has to be Austin.

Make the middle name 'tatious' and its unbeatable- ostentatious!

sue51 · 14/08/2016 19:31

Soames
Simeon
Hector
Jolyn
Peregrine

Angel would be too hard to live up to.

squoosh · 14/08/2016 19:37

Are you a fan of the Forsyte Saga sue?

Louise2092 · 14/08/2016 19:38

Don't know if anyone's said it but i always thought franklin was a posh name. I love tristan and caleb but toby is nice too, especially i you make the full name tobias x

squoosh · 14/08/2016 19:38

Duh! Ignore me, just saw the Angel reference.

TheDowagerCuntess · 14/08/2016 19:41

DC go to school with a boy called Sinjin (that spelling). Don't do that.

squoosh · 14/08/2016 19:45

Oh Blush for poor Sinjin.

Bad enough to be called St.John, but to be called St.John with the phonetic spelling..........

JackandDiane · 14/08/2016 19:48

my son goes to a state school
he has mates called Milo Sholto, Magnus, Rufus and Titus

so up yer arses

SlinkyVagabond · 14/08/2016 19:53

We liked "posh" names too op, which is why one of the boys names is on almost every page.
And when I suggested StJohn I may have been a little Tongue in cheek.

EnglishRose1320 · 14/08/2016 19:54

Lots of these names are lovely but not many of them I would consider posh, I think more and more these days names go across classes.
Names we have in our family as either first or middle names

Solomon
Oscar
Henry
Benjamin
William
Tobias
Edward
Theodore
Joseph
Oliver
Harry
Benedict
Jack
Llwelleyn
Charles
James
Wilfred
Matthew
Rupert
Ernest

Most of these names have been mentioned and I wouldn't consider any of them posh really.

squoosh · 14/08/2016 20:09

Kemys is a new one on me. It must be so posh that no man called Kemys ever mixes with plebs thus keeping the name in obscurity.

meikyo · 14/08/2016 20:14

My DH's name has been mentioned above. ..his family are quite posh and the name also used in his mother's home country.

I have a former colleague called Galen which is lovely. He wasn't posh though!

sarah2011 · 14/08/2016 20:20

Sebastian, quentin, Orlando, Solomon

dangermouseisace · 14/08/2016 20:33

Piers
Hilary
Jago
Aurelius
Lesley
Alistair/dair/ter is REALLY REALLY common in Scotland

Marysunshine · 14/08/2016 21:29

Since 'posh' boys names are now borrowed from 'ordinary working man's' names I offer;

Billy
Stan
Fred
Bert
Harry

totalnamechanger · 14/08/2016 21:41

Geordie is not posh in the North East but affectionate nn for George.

Surnames as first names are quite celeb (not posh at all) in my opinion.

I think to be called Columbus you have to be an achiever.

Many of these names are nice and normal in some inner city schools (ie not of English heritage ) ie Hubert, Bruno...

To me Dashiel or Dash could work beautifully in The Wire Smile
