I know a Xenophon, a Tristan, a Paris (whose brother is called Troy), a Giles and a Hereward

I'm not posh at all, but they are Smile

Marysunshine · 14/08/2016 21:54

Using surnames as Irish names is a Scottish tradition ( usually the mothers maiden name) but lots of names on here considered posh are very common in Scotland.

Marysunshine · 14/08/2016 21:55

Oh no, would be all wrong for my purposes.
I'm only here because I'm choosing a puppy name.

Imagine calling a pug Jayden. i'll get savaged here.

MrsKoala · 14/08/2016 22:22

I know a Cesarion. That's considered quite out there.

My boys first names have been mentioned but their middle names are:
Clement
Floros
Aurelius

If i had another boy i would like:
Tristan
Valentine
Jocelyn

I would really really like Jean-Baptiste, but that's too much even for me!

(only one of these was a possible name for DS2)

Yes, Aunt we have some very posh friends- family estate in Scotland with castle - the names in their family are Alistair, William, Iain, Douglas and Hugh.

Zhabr · 14/08/2016 22:50

Another Forsyte Saga name-Publius Valerius Dartie. "Imagine a cross between a pickle and a Forsyte..."His name was later changed to Val because of the bullying. The reason for such usual name was "craving for distinction".

Iloveowls2 · 14/08/2016 23:29

Came across an Horatio at a prestigious cathedrals Sunday school once. Ptolomy is a good one (rubbish when learning to spell though)
