Sunning myself in Stresa, Lago Maggiore ..

Now 'stress' would be a more accurate description...

OP posts:
Icallbullshit3 · 12/08/2016 18:43

Probably causing my mother morning sickness

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 12/08/2016 18:44

Nursing a huge crush on a lifeguard at the local pool and either mooching about there or working in the bread shop covering holidays for impossibly middle aged women: eg, 44 year old like I am now.

HairySubject · 12/08/2016 18:44

I was about 4 months old without a care in the world.

myownperson · 12/08/2016 18:47

poorbuthappy I too was at Knebworth 20 years ago. Fun times. Smile

30 years ago I was 10. No particular memories of that summer but if it was a good day I'd have been hanging out at my beloved grandparents house.

flissfloss65 · 12/08/2016 18:47

I was on holiday from uni doing Camp America. Carefree and full of hope for the future. Just thinking about it has made me sad as some things went to plan but lots haven't.

Magazinepile · 12/08/2016 18:48

1 years old living the life and no worries

cassiewoo · 12/08/2016 18:50

I was 14. Summer holidays and possibly in Denmark as we went that year. I had terrible 80's massive hair and wore a lot of orange and yellow clothes, two colours that I swore I would never wear again.

Just bought an orange vest top...

parisgellar · 12/08/2016 18:52

Not born. And not sure my parents had actually met yet either!

Pebbles16 · 12/08/2016 18:53

Nervously awaiting my O level results convinced I'd failed every single one. I hadn't. But a pattern of catastrophising persists to this day!

blueskyinmarch · 12/08/2016 18:56

I was aged 23 and 12 days away from celebrating my first wedding anniversary. Still married!

sglodion · 12/08/2016 18:57

Not born yet

Nice thread OP. 30 years ago I was probably too young to have heard of Lago Maggiore but spent a week there at the beginning of this summer. Lovely. A nice reminder to think that life for some of us is probably harder than it was 30 years ago, but we are three decades older and wiser - if we were doing something nicer then than we are now... what can we do to change that?

tosto · 12/08/2016 18:58

Even if something very small...

phoenix1973 · 12/08/2016 18:58

I was 13 and this was the last year my parents would be married and I would feel secure and stable.
It was a good year.

TaIkinPeace · 12/08/2016 18:59

Living in Kent with DH having just started our first jobs after graduating.

BeenThereDoneThatForgotten · 12/08/2016 19:01

I was 17 and probably waitressing on a Friday night.

whirlwinds · 12/08/2016 19:04

3 years old and putting baby brother in his place with my sandbox spade! He had learned the word NO! by then and I wanted that toy, on the day I doubt but right time of the year at least :)

Joinourclub · 12/08/2016 19:07

6 years old and standing at my garden gate looking enviously at the other children who were allowed to play in the lane.

Today I'm busy shutting the garden gate so that my three year old doesn't escape into the lane!

sportinguista · 12/08/2016 19:07

Working at Woolworths for the summer and revising for O levels.

peachmama · 12/08/2016 19:09

I was all grown at almost 8. Excitedly waiting for my birthday and wondering if this was the year I would get a pony! (I didn't).

I think it was that year I "married" my first boyfriend...Dwayne....

Great thread OP.

sodabreadjam · 12/08/2016 19:09

I was 31, approaching 32.

DS1 was 4 and a half. DS2 was nearly three. We were on holiday in Germany visiting DH's relatives with DPILs and it was roasting hot.

DF was ill with cancer.

Update - DParents and DILs sadly now deceased.

DS2 and his partner moved into a new house today near us. DS1 is in the USA but might be coming home soon. Smile

ohidoliketobe · 12/08/2016 19:11

In the stomach of a very worried 15 year old about to tell her parents she was pregnant! Her older sister beat her to it with her own shock pregnancy news and then my mum blurted out "er me too". My poor Grandad.

It all worked out ok in the end!

whitehandledkitchenknife · 12/08/2016 19:11

In St Thomas' Hospital looking out at a view of the Houses of Parliament, having been delivered by caesarean section of my much loved son a few days before. And celebrating second wedding anniversary.

maggiethemagpie · 12/08/2016 19:11

In Greece on a family holiday... I was 9

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/08/2016 19:12

16 - grieving the loss of my dad, who died inexpectantly in the week between sitting my CSE's and 'O' Levels. Don't really remember much - all a blur.
