AIBU?

To not tell my son I lied to him?

And let him continue pretending to be poorly and see how far he goes?

I told him last night that he's back at school today. He has woken with a super bad fake cough, has complained about belly ache, his toe also hurts him.

I'm waiting to be told he has a broken leg Grin

How ill should I let him get before I let him know I was messing with him and he has weeks yet?

Very he loves school. He's pretending so he can stay in bed and play on the tablet. It doesn't need looking into Hmm

He's worked it out after looking in the mirror btw. He gets patterns shaved into his head and when they grow out its back at school time.

That's how he's worked it out, not the fact he has no uniform out or I've made no mention of him getting ready for school Grin

I have a sense of humour thank you. I'm always having a giggle and being silly with my dd. However I can just imagine how gutted I would have been as a child to be told the holidays were over, so I just can't see why that is funny. That does not mean that I do not have a sense of humour, I just would never do something that could make my child feel like that as a joke. I just don't get it.

Your son knows, Derek, he's just started a thread in chat,
"How long should I string my mum along? She thinks she's tricked me about returning to school today so I'm pretending to be ill so she feels really guilty, and takes me to McDonalds"

How dare you insinuate that I don't come from a jokey family! I just don't think this particular joke is very funny

Jesus TapDancing Christ - if this is the worst insinuation you ever have to face you'll have got off lightly! Not as though anyone was hinting that you clearly come from a family of blood sucking serial killers is it?

X2 boys could you explain what vixx means please? Is the op supposed to be a regular or a newbie?

And I don't think it matters as to whether I'm new or not.

No one has to agree. It's AIBU

People fight in here for the sake of it no matter what's posted Grin

Well I think it's funny. But then I come from a family where we are all quite relaxed with each other not neurotic
We told the dd(16) that the ADT alarm man had made a mistake on the circuit and she would trip the alarm if she crossed the threshold of her room. Kept her in there for about two hours. Guess what? She thought it was funny too.

It's really odd that those who have a different view have resorted to insinuations and name calling.

All of us? Really?

My thoughts exactly Bloody. A slight tendency to overreact I think.

proud, the OP knows why her son wants to stay home. She's explained that. This is a harmless joke that many on this thread have taken completely the wrong way.

Aw I wanted to put a bet in! You better watch yourself now op Wink.

Can't believe this place, same people who lie about Santa and such for years, getting all hoity-toity about a prank Hmm. Yet threads from the point of the baby/dog/boring soap character are deemed 'hilarious '. That was your mistake op, should have written the whole 'awful' incident from the POV of your poor, 'traumatised' son Grin.

Insinuations are part of healthy debate and aren't on par with name calling, which I haven't actually seen any of.

Very would you just lighten up? Seriously why is MN filled with such sour, moaning, suck the joy from everything miseries? I'm convinced people are on here just waiting to puck apart every single thing and get annoyed over nothing. Have you lot nothing better to do? And wtf about you've been framed? No, you really don't come across as someone with a sense of humour.

Buttered there's me thinking the Grin at the end of that sentence would show that I was joking.

The joke been that he's really actually ill and this it would be karma for messing with him.
