To ask (nicely) that people refrain from using "Hun" and "X" - yes, I know... I'm a grumpy git.

But I've noticed, yet again, an influx of "Huns" and "xx" nonsense.

I can even mentally think of a few culprits.

Sorry.

But I'm grumpy so I want to share the grumpiness.

Please may I throw all the fucking "LOL"s into the mix?

LOL is not punctuation. Saying some shit like "my child fell down and then yelled at me LOL" is not a fucking sentence, it just screams that you are so insecure in your written content that you want people to think it's funny so they don't focus on the matter at hand.

Fucksake.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 03/08/2016 08:20

I don't think finding the usage of words like Hun annoying is a snobby thingConfused.

We're all strangers on here (I'm guessing) and calling someone Hun when one doesn't know that person is annoying .

I have seen ' Hi Hun' on here , I don't like it, or lol and xxx.

LittleMissUpset · 03/08/2016 08:21

Have you got 'down with the Huns and x's' on cunt bunting Grin

I do cringe when I read it I must admit!

SpaceDinosaur · 03/08/2016 08:23

Avery has a very good point with babba, bubs, hubby....

These fall into the "Princess" boat with me.

BitOutOfPractice · 03/08/2016 08:26

I've genuinely never seen any hunning on MN. Perhaps my brain has learned to filter it out

I thought Thanks was basically the MN equivilent of a hug anyway

BitOutOfPractice · 03/08/2016 08:27

How the actuall fuck do you spell equivilent? Eqivilant? Equivalent? FFS Angry

scoobyloobyloo · 03/08/2016 08:29

Totally agree with you on LOL, I asked for the same a couple of pages back but whilst we're at it - can go too...

It's on the upsurge, definitely.

YANBU.

ReginaBlitz · 03/08/2016 08:53

Yawn..as with the posts about bought And brought this has been done to fucking death! Hun is cringe we get it, no need to start (another) thread about it.

Salmotrutta · 03/08/2016 10:32

So why not just ignore the thread then Regina?

Hmm?

OP posts:
Salmotrutta · 03/08/2016 10:35

And YY StillStayingClassy - you can't criticise people on threads because you'd be pulled up on that so better to do a generic reminder

"No hunning, xxxing, LOLing or text speak. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter"

OP posts:
scoobyloobyloo · 03/08/2016 10:35

Can we add to te list people who click on threads which they know they have no interest in and comment 'yawn'.

Oops, too late.

I've seen the kiss at the end of a post but never a hun.

Where I am a hun is a rude name for a supporter of a particular football team. Definitely not a term of endearment. To say the least.

The use of 'lil' also makes me think young chavvy type. 'My lil man is so sexy'-seen in reference to a baby or animal.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 03/08/2016 10:46

That's not good Buffy. Glad I avoided.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 03/08/2016 10:47

I don't like people using the word chavvy either.

Seems I have quite a list.

ArmySal · 03/08/2016 10:48

Referring to children as sexy turns me into a 90 year old pearl clutching Victorian maiden aunt.

My colleague refers to her 5 year old granddaughter as 'sexy Lexi'.

rumblingDMexploitingbstds · 03/08/2016 10:48

No hunning, xxxing, LOLing or text speak. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter

YES. Angry Along with 'hubby' or even more nauseating, 'hubster'.

The text speak is spreading and it's not cool, it's illiterate shite.

NeedACleverNN · 03/08/2016 10:51

Yanbu

SanityClause · 03/08/2016 11:03

MN seems to be a weird mix of huns and Daily Mail types atm.

I think this is where we are getting the goady fucker phenomenon, TBH.

Daily Mail opinions are actually pretty mainstream in the wider public, but for many MNers, seem very intolerant and extreme. So, a Daily Mail type starts a benefits bashing thread, say, and is accused of being a goady fucker, whereas in RL, benefits bashing is mainstream, so the Daily Mail type cannot see that their opinion is in any way offensive, so doesn't understand the accusation of goady fuckery, and thinks they are being attacked for simply having a differing view to others.

Doggity · 03/08/2016 11:14

Why do people open threads )when the title clearly outlines the topic) and then complain it's boring? You've just created your own boredom. My grandma used to say; "if you're bored, it's because you're boring. Go and find something interesting to do."

Salmotrutta · 03/08/2016 11:39

Hear hear Doggity
