To ask (nicely) that people refrain from using "Hun" and "X" - yes, I know... I'm a grumpy git.

But I've noticed, yet again, an influx of "Huns" and "xx" nonsense.

I can even mentally think of a few culprits.

Sorry.

But I'm grumpy so I want to share the grumpiness.

Hun always makes me think the poster is young and chav. It's overused on horsey sites where people typically defend appalling practice eg: 'You're doing the right thing, hun, you know your boy, ignore the haters'. This, despite blatant cluelessness. Prepares for flaming

May I add the terms 'haters' (makes me want to scratch out eyes of poster) and 'We're pregnant'. No, no, you, as the female in the partnership, are pregnant. Your DP definitively is not!

Rockingaround · 03/08/2016 01:13

What else can Hun mean? Hmm

EverySongbirdSays · 03/08/2016 01:14

I got hunned on Facebook yesterday and all I could think was "Christ, you'd get slaughtered on Mumsnet" Grin

Flippertygib · 03/08/2016 01:15

OP please ask them also to refrain from and "un-mumsnetty hugz" shite too. Thank you.

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 03/08/2016 01:16

Awww, hun. This sort of thing just needs gone today xxxx

paxillin · 03/08/2016 01:22

crimbo

paxillin · 03/08/2016 01:27

or should that be chrimbo?

Salmotrutta · 03/08/2016 01:30

Rockinaround - "Hun" was a reference to Germans back in the day.

And usually used in a derogatory way. You have to be old enough to know that. It was like using "Kraut".

And is bad too.

And that person who mentioned "Crimbo" is now on my ""spreadshit"....

OP posts:
paxillin · 03/08/2016 01:33

twirl Grin

littleprincesssara · 03/08/2016 01:36

If you watch WWII movies you'll hear Hun (in the older meaning) a lot.

FastWindow · 03/08/2016 01:36

Well salmo it is August. Chrimbo starts in August now, dontchaknow?

< adds superfluous 'hun' >

BennyTheBall · 03/08/2016 01:39

I'm with you, OP.

I'd take it further and ban any 'hubby/hubs' type phrases too.

Just5minswithDacre · 03/08/2016 01:58

OP please ask them also to refrain from and "un-mumsnetty hugz" shite too. Thank you.

Oh can we add please?

So nauseating.

LellyMcKelly · 03/08/2016 02:03

U OK, hun? C U L8R.

Flippertygib · 03/08/2016 02:04

passthewineplz · 03/08/2016 02:08

UABU hun! Here have some Flowers and a virtual hug xxxxxx

SalemSaberhagen · 03/08/2016 02:28

These threads are so repetitive, it's boring. It pops up every few weeks with the same 'hilarious' replies invoking the terms that the OP states.

FWIW, I do not use Hun or put kisses.

LucyBabs · 03/08/2016 02:45

Sosalmo you agree with me or...Confused

paxillin · 03/08/2016 03:07

All MN threads have been done before. Maybe current affairs stuff is new, like Brexit. All the rest is repetition, just like RL conversation.

Others have potty trained before, laughed about the royals, been left by husbands, talked about holidays, moaned about a phrase. And on most long threads someone bleats: "Been done before! This isn't the first time humankind had this discussion!"

PitilessYank · 03/08/2016 04:19

May I use "Honey" in place of "Hun"?

That is what we say in my neck of the woods.

Am I allowed to call people "Darling", or "Sweetheart"? I do that in real life because I can't remember names very well.

(Prepares to be throttled...)

scoobyloobyloo · 03/08/2016 05:41

Can we ban people who inadvertently post 3 times?

Also can we ban those who use LOL?

LOLs make me physically recoil.

Fruitellaz · 03/08/2016 05:56

What does 'un-mumsnetty hugs' even mean!?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 03/08/2016 06:44

Lol is even more commonplace on here these days.

Threads like this are becoming more frequent but that's because the hunning, xxx and lolling is fucking annoying.

I'd never pull anyone up about it on a thread but it's good to get it out.
