To ask (nicely) that people refrain from using "Hun" and "X" - yes, I know... I'm a grumpy git.

But I've noticed, yet again, an influx of "Huns" and "xx" nonsense.

I can even mentally think of a few culprits.

Sorry.

But I'm grumpy so I want to share the grumpiness.

There has been a hideous outbreak of 'u' and 'ur' lately too. I find it - I don't know - somewhat rude actually - if you can be arsed to type out a whole post or response to a post including some words with more than four letters then for the love of fuck just type YOU and YOUR. Takes whole nanoseconds. You won't die of exhaustion.

SlinkyVagabond · 03/08/2016 07:14

Bloody saved me a post. And the poster I was thinking of wasn't even new, so knows better.(fuck,I'm grumpy)
As its says in Talk Guidelines "No fucking text speak!"

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2016 07:14

'Famalam' makes me so cross. It's all a bit teenage. Just say family it's one less letter.Angry

hazeyjane · 03/08/2016 07:15

I might start using hunford, it sounds more formal.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 03/08/2016 07:16

'Hun' really annoys me. Mostly because I used to call my really close friends 'hon' long before it became widely used and the o was replaced by u. The 'u' really gets my goat.

PeppaAteMySoul · 03/08/2016 07:16

I don't use hun or Xxx or anything else deemed to be annoying here but I don't see the problem if others want to. The picking at other peoples grammar, spelling and use of language makes Mumsnet seem unfriendly and dare I say it a bit snobby.

callherwillow · 03/08/2016 07:18

For as long as I've used mumsnet there have been complaints about the use of 'hun'.

I've never seen it!

I have noticed an increase in accusations of 'goady fucker' though Hmm and it pisses me off.

TheNaze73 · 03/08/2016 07:21

YANBU Totally agree.

The goady fucker thing makes me laugh, seems to be used so much now for anyone who dares to have a viewpoint & doesn't want to join the chorus of blowing smoke up someone's arse

SanityClause · 03/08/2016 07:22

Chrimbo starts in August now, dontchaknow?

I saw a Christmas display in Hobbycraft in early July! Shock

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2016 07:22

That's because there's been an increase in goady fuckers probably. They are everywhere.

callherwillow · 03/08/2016 07:23

The New Goady Fucker:

Poster 1 - I think X
Poster 2 - Hm, well I think Y to be honest
Poster 3 - you're just being a goady fucker Hmm

On a semi serious note I wish MNHQ would ban it.

It's doing my tits in but it's also a form of bullying and shutting down debate.

callherwillow · 03/08/2016 07:24
Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2016 07:26

If I think someone is being a goady fucker I either ignore them or hide the thread.

callherwillow · 03/08/2016 07:27

Well that's the best way to deal with it I would say SB, although I do report if I think someone is genuinely trying to just cause a massive row (which would be the definition of a goady fucker.) It's different to someone who might have a minority view on something expressing that view.

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2016 07:31

I wonder if people have been put off reporting since MNHQ no longer reply to them.
You can report someone for being a GF but never hear anything back so no idea if MNHQ agree or not. Or even if they are taking a look.

callherwillow · 03/08/2016 07:36

The lack of replies are fairly recent though, and cries of 'goady fucker' have been around longer.

There's one poster who always accuses people of being goady fuckers.

I didn't see her name for a while so thought she'd been banned. But now she is back!

Meanwhile the REAL goady fuckers still carry on!

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2016 07:38

I think everyone has their own opinion of what a GF is.

I tend to think the people that start goady threads then accuse people of bullying are the worst.

callherwillow · 03/08/2016 07:42

Maybe leave it to MN to decide what a goady thread / GF is.

Sooverthis · 03/08/2016 07:45

It's twenty weeks today til Crimbo hun xxxx

averylongtimeago · 03/08/2016 07:47

While we are at it, can we ban "Bubz" ,"bubba", "hubz" . What do they mean anyway?

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2016 07:47

Twenty weeks? Shock

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 03/08/2016 08:08
