To potentially make DH very ill?

I realise there is a similar themed thread here, must be food hygiene day.

Anyway, I cooked a chicken on Thursday afternoon. Switched the oven off when it was ready and left it in there (one of those cook in the bag ALDI special bad boys).

We went away for the weekend and I totally forgot about it until now.

AIBU to test it on DH to see if it's edible? DH things it probably is, so is sort of consenting. He's also left his bastarding socks on the floor next to the laundry basket again, for me to collect and wash presumably. As such, I feel his life is expendable at the moment.

To see if it's edible? I'm assuming this is meant to be funny? Confused
It's not. Either funny or edible.

Sleepybunny · 31/07/2016 20:53

He still wants to eat it, MN judgment has not penetrated his thick skin.

PansOnFire · 31/07/2016 20:53

Nah, probably best to bin it...

Doublejeopardy · 31/07/2016 20:53

Really really not ok. Room temp chicken for 3 days honestly I will eat anything but that is not in (I have food hygiene qualifications)

PirateFairy45 · 31/07/2016 20:55

Please tell me this is a joke and it's already in the bin?

This could make him extremely ill, you can't be that dim as to actually give it to him.

ImperialBlether · 31/07/2016 20:56

It depends on two things.

a) Does he have good life assurance?
b) Do you like him?

3amEternal · 31/07/2016 20:56

Please let this be a joke. Yes this could kill him. I've known plenty of people who have had parts of their bowel removed due to food poisoning.

Ah well, good luck to him.

OnionKnight · 31/07/2016 20:57

In that case Godspeed OP's DH.

raviolidreaming · 31/07/2016 20:58

He says it'll be ok, because it's been in a bag, hence forth sterile as urine

Sterile as urine from someone with urinary sepsis.

abbsismyhero · 31/07/2016 20:58

What does it smell like?

icelollycraving · 31/07/2016 20:58

If he wants to eat it, has he had a knock to the head? He will be bloody hideously ill.

larrygrylls · 31/07/2016 21:00

I would eat it if it smelled ok. Where would the bacteria come from?

Ememem84 · 31/07/2016 21:00

Do you have a dog or cat you could show it to? We used to show suspect meat at our cat. If it ate it we figured it was safe for people.

I'd refuse to wash his clothes. Until he puts them in the laundry bin.

Show him Jennifer Lopez' video "I ain't your mama".

Sleepybunny · 31/07/2016 21:01

Piratefairy, I do not give DH food, fortunately he is a grown adult and can make his own bat shit crazy decisions.

NataliaOsipova · 31/07/2016 21:01

I am not fussy about these things, I'm really not....but that would go straight in the bin. It's just not worth the risk....

KitKat1985 · 31/07/2016 21:02

No way. And I'm usually fairly lax around food (regularly eat things a bit past their used-by-date etc). But eat a chicken that's been left out at room temperature for 3 days? No. I'd probably lob it now even if it had been in the fridge for 3 days. Joking aside, food poisoning is really pretty grim and if I were you I'd lob it before he starts munching at it.

As a aside, how on earth did you forget that you cooked a chicken?

paxillin · 31/07/2016 21:04

Give him a bucket to puke into whilst needing the loo for the other end.

GobblersKnob · 31/07/2016 21:04

Christ no, you cooked it on Thursday! If he eats it make him sleep in the bathroom, or the garden.....

Flowerfae · 31/07/2016 21:05

I can see why your tempted but I wouldn't ... if it didn't kill him, you would probably end up cleaning up after him if he's puking and god know what else everywhere. Not worth the hassle. Dye his socks pink or something :P

OnionKnight · 31/07/2016 21:07

If the OP keeps the thread updated then this could be a classic in the making.

PickAChew · 31/07/2016 21:07

Pick up his socks, put the rancid chicken in his socks and put his socks in his sock drawer.

dailymaillazyjournos · 31/07/2016 21:08

What could possibly go wrong? Hmm

Notso · 31/07/2016 21:09

Hmm, I've eaten Turkey from Christmas Day that was left out as there was no room in the fridge on the 29th Dec. It was in a cold utility room though.
