I am in no doubt I am being unreasonable, can't stand these tops and think they make the most attractive people look bloomin' awful. I can't be alone in this surely?

I thought I was getting old when I was walking through Cardiff on Tuesday and was thinking that those tops look like the seam has come undone! Glad I'm not the only one turning in to my mother!

Well you get what you pay for with them. If you're prepared to splash out on one which is good quality, a nice colour and long armed, and you have the right physique, they can look quite striking.

My dds have a couple from new look and they don't have quite the same effect but thy look quite cute in them nonetheless!

Agree OP, I've never seen anyone in real life that looks good in these tops.

I was having a conversation about this earlier this evening and both of us agree they are awful.

Well I love mine and think it looks good.
I have the Baukjen one that Ojos linked and have had many compliments. Hopefully they were sincere Confused

I LOVE cold shoulder tops! I'm a size 20 and not tanned and I look great in mine!

I like them on the Young and toned and the old and fat like me
If you don't like them, don't wear them. Problem solved.

Well, they're as close to an off the shoulder top as those of us who MUST wear bras (with straps!) can get. So for that, I like them.

Hidious! Colleague was wearing one last week, work in health care and usually wear a uniform so I think it was completely inappropriate for our work and just nasty anyway, kind of tarty and kind of dynasty in a drawing attention to the shoulders type way, can't imagine it looking good on anyone

Showing off shoulders tarty? HmmBiscuit

I think they are hideous and something that Liz Mcdonald from Corrie would wear..

My daughter bought one of these design of jumpers about 3 years ago in Camden so I am surprised that they are only just becoming 'fashionable' in mainstream shops.
She is 19, slim and tall and it looks absolutely fantastic on her.
I like them, but I really couldn't get away with wearing one!

I think they look great if you have nice shoulders, I like off the shoulder tops and one shoulder tops too

But they can make you look bigger so better on those who are slim

I hate them.

I don't think they look tarty Hmm or that only thin people should wear them, or anything like that.

I just think they look weird.

So that's my irrational prejudices exposed, rather than my shoulders.

I love them! I have a lovely, long loose one (I'm pale as a fish belly) it really flatters my body type, and was SOOO comfortable when pregnant.

Gemma Teller type ones? ... YANBU Grin

Definitely sunburnt shoulder tops.

Why are they always polyester?

They look fantastic on my 16 year old! I will give them a wide berth.

Yeah, I'm not a fan. I think Bardot-style tops can be quite elegant but you do have to be very slim and toned to pull them off- but the cut-out shoulder ones just look daft.

Report
WanderingNotLost · 30/07/2016 00:40

By Bardot- style I mean the tight-fitting ones, not the elasticated ones that flap about.

I have small brown shoulders but I wouldn't wear them. If I want a long sleeve top its to keep me warm. I don't want cold shoulders!

I was thinking the other day about how I detest clothes with any sort of cut out. I feel quite strongly about it. Especially pretty dresses with big fuck off pointless hole in the back Angry

I don't think they look good on any shoulders is what I meant!
