AIBU?

To ask for your help with my bikini line?!

Posting here for traffic, time is not on my side! And also (obviously) name changed.....
In an attempt to save time I have waxed my own bikini line with the dire-est of consequences, the top bit has come away beautifully but the wax has stuck firmly to both sides, I'm assuming at this point the wax cooled down, hence now it is stuck fast, red, and very very angry. I've never had syphilis but I imagine this is what it looks like.
All visions of myself slinking around the pool on holiday next week have dissolved entirely, unlike this wax.
Things I have tried:
Scrubbing with a flannel
Soaking it with water as hot as j can stand in an attempt to melt it whilst scrubbing with an exfoliating cloth.
Oils of every variety.
The box says 'excess wax will wash away with warm soapy water' THIS IS NOT FUCKING TRUE!!
It's a complete mess and I'm all out of ideas, can you help?! I can go and purchase any suggestions but short of sanding it off I'm losing hope.
It's not sticky BTW it's sort of plasticated, and shiny, like a an exhibit in the Gunter von hagens travelling show. And red, very very red, and sort of raised.
I'll stop now.

ABSOLUTELY NO TO THE BATH! It will weld you to the bathtub. Go to a salon, they will sort you. Please don't put any chemicals down there as you have open hair follicles and it could cause serious irritation.

I'm going against the grain here but apply something very cold to harden the wax and peel it off.

WHY on earth do we do this to ourselves?
can you imagine any men putting themselves through this kind of pain and humiliation to have a bald penis area?

I can hardly talk, I have literally just given myself a Hollywood wax (inspired by this thread Grin sorry OP) but then I'm a qualified beauty therapist. I was wondering why men don't feel the need to do the same Hmm,

Also OP when you say it stuck to both sides you don't mean you fucked up one side of your bikini line then proceeded to do the same thing to the other side do you?

Ok, visits to 2x boots and 1x super drug has yielded no 'wax off'....
Back to the drawing board, orangesquash, j thought j had waxed if successfully, I didnt realise the wax was stuck in til the next day! The top is so nice too! Smooth and clear, so I don't know what went wrong with the sides?!
I'm back on the sofa with it slathered in coconut oil, which if you believe everythjng you read should have it sorted in 9 seconds.
What a mess.

GO TO A SALON.

Report
Whatabloodyidiot1 · 29/07/2016 12:38

I can't go to a salon, hence attempting to do it myself! I always get it done professionally but my husband is working away til Monday and I don't want my small children witnessing such scenes at the salon (not that they'd be allowed in anyway!)

Nail varnish remover....or put flour on top and rub...bit of butter or margarine? Bicarbonate of soda has many uses on MN, could it work for wax removal aswell?

Using a cotton bud for the olive oil won't help - you need something much larger and very soft (you'll be sore enough as it is after all the scrubbing)

Patience is the key; soak the cloth in oil and gently wipe it across the wax. It will take quite a while to shift it all, but it really should work

Like a soft piece of sponge puzzled?

Personally I think a soft sponge would be ideal Smile

Well, if the OP can't get rid of the wax at least she'll have some cake to eat.

Oh, and oil won't make it all fall off at once; it actually dissolves it from the top layer down, so with the first few wipes you won't think anything's happening. After lots more you should think "hmmm, maybe there is a bit less of it now" and so on until it's gone

Hopefully Wink

I tried to self wax and had to have 2 days off work to recover! Ended up feeling very fluey.

Have you tried coconut oil?Does EVERYTHING apparently! Meant to remove chewing gum but didn't dare try it.

Okay so you can't go to a salon but could you just call in and ask for some after wax?? They might have some dregs in an old bottle they don't mind giving you...

If your children don't mind you lying on the sofa akimbo with coconut oil everywhere, then they can cope with a salon. I've had a bikini wax while bouncing a whingey baby straddling me. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Find a small salon with just one treatment room so you don't disturb others.

Ok, I'm going to go with the 'olive oil and patience' technique, whilst I mentally pack up and return all my beautiful new swimwear.....

This happened to a friend. She decided to shave it off. Don't. It made her skin look like mince.

Oh dear. No advice.
How old are the kids? Can they stay up your head end in salon? Or waiting room?

Whatabloodyidiot1 · 29/07/2016 15:09

Sweet Jesus of Nazareth I think it's starting to dissolve! Only a tiny bit but it's definetly coming away!

Hoorrraayy! Well done OP.

Can't believe we've had a 'something's stuck' thread and no one's suggested sex lube and a fish slice.
