In our case its a pack of toilet rolls. Don't ask me why but we always take some with us whenever we are going away, even just for a weekend. No history of ever running out of them anywhere but just can't leave home without a back up supply Smile

Some great things here. I'm quite surprised to see just how many of them also find their way as standard into my luggage. Am I really the only one who takes toilet rolls with them though Blush

passport, bank card, contact lenses, phone.
All else can be sourced if needs be.

FastWindow · 28/07/2016 22:17

Toilet rolls if camping, of course.

Dettol. Amazing for sunburn.

AtSea1979 · 28/07/2016 22:20

Nocapes what do you mean talc for sand removal? Am I missing a trick?

AtSea1979 · 28/07/2016 22:21

Teabags, toilet roll, digital thermometer, calpol.

BeaLola · 28/07/2016 22:28

Lots of my disposable daily contact lenses eg if I am going away for a week I take about 3 weeks supply plus my backup glasses - couldn't bear not to be able to see.

Off on tangent but to the poster re mozzie bites in Italy - I always get bitten but not once since I was told to take garlic tablets ! I buy the cheap odourless capsules in Boots and take one a day starting from a day or two before holiday and continue throughout - 3 years and several holidays later no bites ! Coincidence or not I'm taking them still 😀

NoCapes · 28/07/2016 22:29

Talc removes sand painlessly
Literally just sprinkle it on and dust off, Tiz a life changer!!

TroysMammy · 28/07/2016 22:32

Travel wash for scrubbing out my bikinis and knickers.

AtSea1979 · 28/07/2016 22:37

Sprinkle the talc on before the beach or when back from beach?

Ineedmorepatience · 28/07/2016 22:43

My large family car (crammed to the gunnels full of stuff) Grin

Ineedmorepatience · 28/07/2016 22:50

Oops gunells Blush

LBOCS2 · 28/07/2016 22:52

Talc - on the damp skin which has sand stuck to it. It dries it up and the sand falls off.

FastWindow · 28/07/2016 22:53

Gunnels was right. Or you can have gunwales. And a roofbox of course!! Smile

Ineedmorepatience · 28/07/2016 22:58

Ha ha fast actually we moved on from a roof box to a caravan Grin

So I do actually take the kitchen and the sink Grin

AverysillyoldHector · 28/07/2016 22:58

My pillow. Its a waterfilled one so its a bit of a faff to empty it and then refill, but I havent slept on another pillow for years (including in hospital).

FastWindow · 28/07/2016 23:00

patience when i was a youngun i saw these saddos in their campervans/mobile homes and told my best friend to shoot me if i ever expressed a desire to own one.

I really, really want one... Grin

Ineedmorepatience · 28/07/2016 23:02

I love mine fast we have had some brilliant holidays in it. Smile

NoCapes · 28/07/2016 23:07

Talc on after, on your sandy areas

FastWindow · 28/07/2016 23:26

patience the extra space is gold and saves so much packing anxiety.

Before we had 2dc, we would take the transit. The luxury of flinging the airbed still fully inflated, in the back of the van. On top of the bikes. Being able to take the highchair. Bliss.

Now, it's a logistical game of car boot tetris.

thinkingthingsover · 29/07/2016 00:28

Travel washing line.

BoyFromTheBigBadCity · 29/07/2016 01:10

I'm watching this thread with interest, I'm off on a big trip with one case soon.

Tickets, passports, money, keys. Everything else can be purchased if necessary.

I travel super light though; couple of pairs of shorts, a few t shirts, flip flops, bikini, a dress, a kindle - I travel in trousers, long sleeve t shirt and trainers with my sunglasses. That's it!
