In our case its a pack of toilet rolls. Don't ask me why but we always take some with us whenever we are going away, even just for a weekend. No history of ever running out of them anywhere but just can't leave home without a back up supply Smile

Vaseline lip balm and sleep bra

They go in in the bag before my knickers

KC225 · 28/07/2016 14:50

Canvas case, wheel carry on. Zip bust on the morning we were flying out. So just wrapped it in a load of dental floss.

Travel kettle & tea bags

magimedi · 28/07/2016 15:34

Spare pair of glasses.

If I broke my specs my holiday would be really blighted - I am very short sighted.

Natsku · 28/07/2016 15:35

Books.

Credit card. If I have my credit card anything else can be sorted out.

Cornishclio · 28/07/2016 16:02

Money!

Sgtmajormummy · 28/07/2016 16:04

A torch.
I now have a nifty one that is single varying intensity led or a block of them, magnetic (stick it on the car to change the wheel.... or not) and has a hook (great for outside evenings).
I use it as a nightlight at the start of the holiday, just to remind small people where the bathroom is, and in case of blackouts. Invaluable on holiday last year when they happened every couple of days.
£5 from the Chinese shop!

dudsville · 28/07/2016 16:26

An extension cord, fabulous idea!

dementedpixie · 28/07/2016 16:27

Don't need lots of books if you have a kindle

LagunaBubbles · 28/07/2016 16:30

Im with you ChickyDuck, nothing to beat a real book.

ChickyDuck · 28/07/2016 16:30

I have a kindle which I use the rest of the year! On holiday though, only a stack of lovely worn out second hand paperbacks will do!

ChickyDuck · 28/07/2016 16:32

Mainly second had as a) discarded books make me sad, and b) I always forget about them, leave them lying in the sun and they fall apart! I think the glue in the spine must melt...

PortiaCastis · 28/07/2016 16:34

Crunchymum · 28/07/2016 16:36

KC225 do you just pack a case load of dental floss? Grin

HawkingsMead · 28/07/2016 16:40

My SANITY.

I forgot to pack it this holiday.

Natsku · 28/07/2016 16:41

Can't stand reading on screens (I don't pay attention so well for some reason) so its only real books for me. I try and take second hand ones too and then give them to a charity shop or one of those community libraries in post boxes or leave them for my mum to read (as most of my holidays are to my parents' home) but then I end up coming back with new books anyway so don't save much space that way!

LBOCS2 · 28/07/2016 16:42

An actual whole coffee machine?! Why???!!

My one thing is a kindle. But that comes with me everywhere whether or not I'm going on holiday. So... Playing cards.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 28/07/2016 16:43

After a particularly painful Italian holiday a few years ago when I overindulged on pizza and pasta and not enough fruit and veg, I now always make sure I pack some Anusol...Blush
