AIBU to spend £300 on a hairdryer!?

I am lusting over the dyson hairdryer. I do have long hair that I have to wash and blow dry daily so if i calculated it as cost per use im sure its economical! (can you tell im trying to convince myself)

Has anyone bought one? Is it worth the extra money? Will i notice a huge difference from my babyliss one? Its my birthday soon and i keep leaving the page open on the John Lewis website for DH to see!

I'm probably the last person to advise you but I like a 3kw fan heater for drying my hair in a hurry. Otherwise I let it air dry.

My hairdresser friend has one and says that it's worth the money on lightness alone. She says it's great, brilliant, perfect! Personally I can't imagine buying one unless I win the lottery :)

It gets very mixed reviews, OP. Most say it's a good hairdryer but not worth the money, and that there are very good high-end hairdryers out there in the £100 range that are just as good if not better.

Wowsa! Have you actually tried one? Too much for me, but if you have the money and want to spurge, go for it. You'll have to come back to tell us how it goes.

Ill go search for the review. They seem to be positive on boots and John Lewis. I do know its a bit ridiculous but i WANT IT! I wish I could try before i buy.

I am intrigued but I have short, fine hair, so I can't see it adding that much value to my life. My 11yo revlon does the job in 5 mins.

I'm a few weeks in and I still love it. I have noticed as I have used it more that the condition of my hair seems to be improving as its not getting fried by being over heated.

I have long thick hair and it really does reduce drying time. For anyone with short hair I'm not convinced you would get the benefit.

It is beautifully engineered and really does exude quality.

Ultimately the truth is even a £20 hairdryer will dry your hair. It is a total luxury item. However if you have the cash to splash then I think you will really enjoy using it.

Thank you EatsShitandLeaves. I searched for it and found it. You even have the colour I want too. I have hair that goes down past my bra strap so I think it will be worth it.

I think if you have long, thick hair then it could make a material difference to your life. I, at best, could probably save 2 minutes every other day, which, on balance, isn't worth £300.

Might get a parlux when mine dies though.

Aren't there hair dryers for £100 ish that promise shiny hair - does the dyson promise that? I'm in the market for a new one.

How's about buying a very nice hairdryer for £80 & donating the other £220 to Save the Children?

Based on eats review, I worked out an hour a week saving, so 50 hours a year - therefore £4 an hour over a £100 dryer in one year alone, £2 an hour over 2 years - therefore a good investment

Also i work with save the children regularly. The amount of money they waste is ridiculous. Did you know it costs the local authority £4500 a week to place a child with one of their carers. Over my dead body will I give them £220.

Sorry to respond on your behalf OP but the hypocrisy of that type of comment gets my goat.

I can suggest with a high degree of certainty that people posting snide comments like that don't do their week shop and buy value beans rather than Heinz and save up the 20p saved to to charity. Nor do they buy a house/car with the attitude of I can afford X but Y will good enough and enable me to send the money to charity .

I would love one, but don't think dh would forgive me if I raided the savings for a hairdryer. I would love a Dyson fan 😃
