WWYD car parked on our drive

Marsaday · 19/07/2016 21:48

Some complete asshat has left their car parked on our drive.

It has been there at least since my OH got home at 4.30, but could have been there all day.
Have phoned 101 and police say not reported stolen but they won't do anything as the car is on private land and not blocking us in. It's not a car that we recognise as belonging to neighbours and we're not near a hospital, station, airport etc.
We have currently parked across the drive preventing said car from leaving and left our phone number on the window. However, as we have a baby and a toddler our phones are on silent at night.
WIBU to leave the car blocked in until morning?
Or how can we get the car moved?

Block the bugger in till next week at the earliest. I hate entitled twats!

TendonQueen · 19/07/2016 22:59

Block them!

BeckyMcDonald · 19/07/2016 22:59

OP this is terrible and I'm glad you've blocked them in.

On the other hand, glory be, another fantastic parking thread.

tibbawyrots · 19/07/2016 22:59

We had this. Someone parked on the drive and buggered off, think to the station. We were having our roof done and boiler replaced so had 4 huge vans block the car in (they thought it was ours and said shout if you want it moving) but when we said it wasn't ours, they "didn't know who had the keys" when matey came back to drive off. Kept him there a good hour (looking for the guv) while we sniggered from the lounge!

Gazelda · 19/07/2016 22:59

Are you sure you haven't got a lodger?

possum18 · 19/07/2016 23:00

Parking threads are my all time fav. Currently in the middle of a parking war with the c*nt next door.

UterusUterusGhali · 19/07/2016 23:01

The rotters!

I love the idea of setting up a premium-rate number. Grin

SpiceLinerandHoneyLove · 19/07/2016 23:02

Let down the tyres Grin

silverdrawers · 19/07/2016 23:03

I'd block them in too! Love the idea of charging them a release fee ;)

EDisFunny · 19/07/2016 23:04

I had this at my former house and paid to get it towed. They had been on my drive for 6+ hours so I called the local garage and they took the car away a few streets. I never got a knock at the door or found out who it was. I do wonder how they managed to find their car.

AmberNectarine · 19/07/2016 23:04

PMSL at people 'getting the message' from a note. Of course they will, because the kind of entitled arsehole who thinks it's totally reasonable to park on someone else's drive for 6.5h and counting, will absolutely feel admonished by a stern bit of penmanship.

I would be letting the air out of their tyres and watching them struggle in the morning.

Nocabbageinmyeye · 19/07/2016 23:04

I once had a car park across our entrance, it was clearly a front door with no parking signs everywhere. I opened the door one morning and the car was just there, as in I had to hoist up my skirt and use their wing mirror to pull myself up on their roof so I could slide down their windscreen and onto their bonnet. I was rushing for an interview but it was still there when I got back (on to the bonnet, up the windscreen, skirt up around my conscience) I left a two page letter on the car but ten years later and I am still annoyed at myself for not having it towed, that parking is obviously illegal as it was a total fire hazard.

SpiceLinerandHoneyLove · 19/07/2016 23:06

glasgowlass · 19/07/2016 23:06

Oh I live a good parking thread.

Frenchseam · 19/07/2016 23:07

This happened to my parents when their batshit neighbour decided to use their front garden as a free motorcycle park whilst they were on holiday. The police suggested Putting a schedule of parking charges up on the wall along with penalty fines. After the requisite grace period is up you can Start charging. Good luck op!!

MachiKoro · 19/07/2016 23:08

Probably a complete mistake- as someone upthread said- bloke A will have said 'oh I'm going to X next week' bloke B will have said- 'oh, we live right by there, I'm in Portugal next week, park on my drive, it's No. 15'. Bloke A will have got wrong street.

homeiswheretheginis · 19/07/2016 23:10

OP I feel your pain - this kind of twattery is appalling. Happens to us pretty regularly, worst one was when we came home froma&e at 3am with a two week old DS who had breathing problems to find someone parked across our drive so we had to park several roads away. DH had to hold me back as I wanted to smash their windshield...

Hate people that put cones out, my neighbour used to do this. The one time I moved them to park I came back to find my side mirror broken.

I just hate...you know...most people.

BlueberryJuice · 19/07/2016 23:10

Cheeky buggers! That would drive me nuts! So bloody selfish, definitely keep them blocked in and when someone eventually turns up charge them for parking!

HunterHearstHelmsley · 19/07/2016 23:11

Well it's super cunty to mark your space on the road and let the tyres down but not on your drive!

Planty18 · 19/07/2016 23:13

This will be the first thing I look at in the morning now! Place marking obviously.

fakenamefornow · 19/07/2016 23:13

Love the birdseed idea.
