WWYD car parked on our drive

Marsaday · 19/07/2016 21:48

Some complete asshat has left their car parked on our drive.

It has been there at least since my OH got home at 4.30, but could have been there all day.
Have phoned 101 and police say not reported stolen but they won't do anything as the car is on private land and not blocking us in. It's not a car that we recognise as belonging to neighbours and we're not near a hospital, station, airport etc.
We have currently parked across the drive preventing said car from leaving and left our phone number on the window. However, as we have a baby and a toddler our phones are on silent at night.
WIBU to leave the car blocked in until morning?
Or how can we get the car moved?

To the person who's seen it on Facebook, is there any update on there please? I am wasting too much time here!

MsKite · 20/07/2016 10:50

Coconutty some psycho actually did that to my car when I wasn't parked on or anywhere near a drive. I had left my car there for a couple of days but it was in no way inconveniencing anyone or blocking them in. It was made worse by the fact that I had my young son with me. You don't live in NW England do you...? It takes a special kind of weirdo to do something like that. I really hope the person is getting treatment for whatever it is that's wrong with their mind.

Aimtomisbehave · 20/07/2016 10:51

Place marking here Grin

Marsaday · 20/07/2016 10:52

Very annoying.
I went out with the pushchair at 10am for bread and milk, was gone about 15 mins and in that time the car was moved.

It is now parked next to our dropped kerb.

That is irritating! You need to keep watch so you can "have words" when the owner comes back!

mummymeister · 20/07/2016 10:54

marsaday is it still blocking your drive or has the person realised their error and moved it. are you going to put a note on it or something?

PovertyPain · 20/07/2016 10:54

It's definitely one of your neighbours guests. I'd be fucking fuming and go round every.single.house until I found out what asshole thought that was ok. It's obviously someone who can see your house from theirs and saw you going out. Angry

ilovelamp82 · 20/07/2016 10:56

I've seen it on facebook too. No update on there.

PovertyPain · 20/07/2016 10:56

I'd also upload that photo of them in your drive to 'parking like a twat' and put a note under their wiper to tell them so.

LazyJournalistsQuoteMN · 20/07/2016 10:57

I accidentally parked in the wrong drive when I went to visit someone recently. I parked and rang the bell, wondering why my friend was taking so long to answer the door, until I heard her voice on the path, she lived 3 doors down.
My other friend often parks at her sister's house, everyone uses her space (with her permission) when they go to the city, where she lives (park & get the bus). Maybe someone has the wrong house /driveway Op?

ophiotaurus · 20/07/2016 10:57

That's annoying! I bet they were waiting for you to leave Angry

Waltermittythesequel · 20/07/2016 10:59

Yeah they were definitely waiting for you to leave so they could move it.

Inconsiderate cunts!

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 20/07/2016 10:59

Oh its def one of your neighbours then. Cheeky twats.

ilovelamp82 · 20/07/2016 10:59

Spoke too soon. If it's the same one it looks like they have moved the car now.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/07/2016 10:59

I would not be happy about this at all, and I am a bit mind-boggled at the people who don't think it is anything to get het up about. Would they feel the same if someone came and sat on their front lawn having a picnic?

Not to mention the fact that, if someone has a drive outside their own house, it is not unreasonable of them to want to be able to park there!

JessieMcJessie · 20/07/2016 11:01

Is it legally parked now? Whoever owns it was definitely waiting for you to go out. Must be someone staying with a neighbour.

ApostrophesMatter · 20/07/2016 11:02

Parking across a dropped kerb is reportable. Phone the community police.

singleandfabulous · 20/07/2016 11:02

How rude! So they've been watching (from nearby) and waiting for you to leave, knowing they're in the wrong, so that they can move the car without a bollocking.

Can you set up a camera or get a camping stool and flask and sit by the window all day?

peggyundercrackers · 20/07/2016 11:03

sounds like one of your neighbours has seen the posts on here or facebook and have been watching for you to go out so they can move the car whilst you aren't around.

rollonthesummer · 20/07/2016 11:05

What do you mean parked next to your dropped curb? Across it-blocking it? A photo would be good.

I'd be really annoyed about yesterday's parking though!!

Marsaday · 20/07/2016 11:08

No, they are parked on the road, with the end of their car meeting the drop kerb. They are not blocking the drop kerb so are now parked legally.
If i find out who it is I shall have words.

There was a case on Judge Judy (I know, I know Grin) one time, where a woman parked her car on a person's drive. The owner of the house blocked in the offending car and left for the afternoon. When the owner returned, her car was moved and the offending car had left. The person, not only moved their car, but let herself in to the owners house, moved stuff around and locked their doors so they knew someone had been in their home and locked them out of their house. Shock The woman (offender) would have got away with it, but for the fact that about a year later, she was boasting about it, to someone who worked near her and she pointed out the owner in a nearby shop. The person she was boasting to, turned out to be the owner's sister in law. The offending woman still didn't see what she had done wrong Hmm

MyCatIsTryingToKillMe · 20/07/2016 11:13

They've waited for you to go out and run to move it. Definitely someone in the immediate vicinity of your house!

DarkBlueEyes · 20/07/2016 11:16

ooh I do love a parking thread! Definitely block it in and share on social media. but report back on here before any other activities

TheUnsullied · 20/07/2016 11:19

Whoever it is is staying with someone who has a view of your front door. Probably a good job you didn't do anything sinister to the car! I'd be camping out to see who comes to get the car now.
