WWYD car parked on our drive

Some complete asshat has left their car parked on our drive.

It has been there at least since my OH got home at 4.30, but could have been there all day.
Have phoned 101 and police say not reported stolen but they won't do anything as the car is on private land and not blocking us in. It's not a car that we recognise as belonging to neighbours and we're not near a hospital, station, airport etc.
We have currently parked across the drive preventing said car from leaving and left our phone number on the window. However, as we have a baby and a toddler our phones are on silent at night.
WIBU to leave the car blocked in until morning?
Or how can we get the car moved?

Go out with a watering can or bucket of water and start very methodically pouring it over the car. If it's some cheeky fucker staying at a neighbouring house, he/she will be over like a shot, wanting to know what you're pouring on the car.

I have a friend with a large lorry. Do you want me to get him to park it in front of your drive and then 'go on a very long holiday?'

Drbint · 20/07/2016 10:08

I had someone park on my drive when I was actually at home - I looked out and there was a car sitting there, so I trawled about trying to find the driver, didn't, got the rage, glued a very rude notice onto his window, and when he came back, jumped out of the house yelling at him, "How dare you park here, you didn't even fucking ask, if you ever come back I'll slash your fucking tyres, you cheeky fucking shit," and so on.

It felt good watching him shit himself, stammer apologies then burn rubber all the way up the road to get away from me. But then I have no class.

ineedwine99 · 20/07/2016 10:08

Block it in for as long as you can.
This. And leave a really snotty note on their window.

Ohb0llocks · 20/07/2016 10:13

Hire a gazebo and have a garden party round it.

Wrap it entirely in cling film and watch them struggle to get in.

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 20/07/2016 10:15

I'm always keen to find out how these pan out.

Badbadbunny · 20/07/2016 10:15

We had this same problem with neighbours parking on our drive. Unfortunately, they have a right of way to get to their gardens, so think it's open season to park there, whereas in law, they only have the right to walk down the drive with a wheel barrow or wheelie bin (checked it over with a solicitor). We bought a no-parking barrier and they got the message, especially with it being lockable, after one neighbour's car accidentally got locked in the drive over a weekend!

"maybe it's a gift?"

Actual PMSL 👍😂👍

3awesomestars · 20/07/2016 10:17

They may have booked with parkonmydrive.com and got the wrong address!
We nearly did that once near the man city stadium but thankfully realised before we left😳
If there is an event on nearby they might be there for the duration, Maybe worth contacting parkonmydrive with the registration and asking if they have booked, they will have the contact details for the owner!

diddl · 20/07/2016 10:18

Just looked at that link.

Give them 14days?

Fucking hell!

mummymeister · 20/07/2016 10:18

Badbadbunny I like this. I am off to google it now.

amusedbush · 20/07/2016 10:24

Oh I love these threads!

MammaTJ · 20/07/2016 10:24

I love a good parking thread!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 20/07/2016 10:25

If you're at home with baby, I like the suggested idea of putting your wheelie bins behind it. At least the owner will be unable to creep off silently

Binkermum29 · 20/07/2016 10:33

Casually place marking

woodenmouse · 20/07/2016 10:35

I was expecting it to be resolved by the time I finished reading!

quasibex · 20/07/2016 10:36

Vaseline all over each door handle. No damage to the car but bloody inconvenient and annoying for the owner (a bit like what they done to you...no damage but utterly annoying).

Then as a future measure get a lockable pole. My friend had one after repeatedly losing access to her garage thanks to someone parking on her drive.

Sorry, I haven't read thru the whole thread.... can't the police take the Reg number and try and contact the owner?

HerOtherHalf · 20/07/2016 10:45

If it were me, I'd pay a garage to tow it away. Obviously you'd have to pay for the tow but when the owner eventually returns give them the choice of reimbursing you in return for the vehicle's location or good luck to them finding it.

singleandfabulous · 20/07/2016 10:45

... whistles nonchalantly and pulls up a chair ...

I LOVE parking threads. I used to live in a house with allocated parking at the end of my cul-de-sac so had my fill of blockings in and shitty notes.

Waltermittythesequel · 20/07/2016 10:46

I would be fuming by now.

I'd seriously get someone to drag it into the street then call the police.

SoupDragon · 20/07/2016 10:47

Is there anyway you can get s no parking bollard installed before they try to move the car?

singleandfabulous · 20/07/2016 10:48

DrBint I've always wanted to do that but don't think I could pull it off. Grin
