WWYD car parked on our drive

Some complete asshat has left their car parked on our drive.

It has been there at least since my OH got home at 4.30, but could have been there all day.
Have phoned 101 and police say not reported stolen but they won't do anything as the car is on private land and not blocking us in. It's not a car that we recognise as belonging to neighbours and we're not near a hospital, station, airport etc.
We have currently parked across the drive preventing said car from leaving and left our phone number on the window. However, as we have a baby and a toddler our phones are on silent at night.
WIBU to leave the car blocked in until morning?
Or how can we get the car moved?

LucyBabs That isn't the point. You don't just park your car on someone else's property.

BanjoPier · 20/07/2016 00:14

Don't worry about getting into trouble with the rozzers if they get called about blocking the car in. Park behind it and if they turn up simply say "Oh silly me, I thought it was DH's friends car, he sometimes parks here and the car is the same model/colour so I assumed it was his and parked behind it like I normally do..."

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 20/07/2016 00:16

Cover it with stickers and weetabix.

Mutter vaguely about children.

Doinmummy · 20/07/2016 00:18

Block them in and when they knock to ask you to move your car , say it's not your car it must belong to an ignorant fucker who's using your drive without permission .

NCforPCN · 20/07/2016 00:18

Yes to bird seed and air out the tyres.
Remove you number and tell them you are in from 10am for payment at £20 an hour, which they could have had for 50p and hour if pre booked as you lost your pre booked customer

mrsthomas14 · 20/07/2016 00:18

^^ Grin lol'ing at the stickers & weetabix!
Such a weird thing to do!! Hope you don't get any knocks on the door in the middle of the night!

LucyBabs · 20/07/2016 00:19

Why undersea ?
It's not actually causing the OP any problems is it?
I have delightful neighbours who just love to call the police if someone parks beside their garden cause it "blocks their view when they are reversing" they had an issue with another neighbour that when she cut her grass the wind was blowing the grass on to the roof of their car Hmm

PitilessYank · 20/07/2016 00:20

I loves me some parking threads. Marking my place.

Tangofandango · 20/07/2016 00:21

There was a very similar thread to this a few weeks ago. The car was parked on the OP's drive for about a week. There were frequent updates then they just stopped as far as I remember.

Onesieisthequeensselfie · 20/07/2016 00:22

Shock is it your car lucybabs? Shock

Willow33 · 20/07/2016 00:26

I like the skip idea but usually you have to pay in advance for it.
Would also want to block them in but wouldn't want some dofus banging on my door in the middle of the night.
Would have to be a note on their screen possibly stuck down with superglue by mistake.

LucyBabs · 20/07/2016 00:27

Shit you caught me onesie Grin

AyeAmarok · 20/07/2016 00:29

I'd go out for the day tomorrow if I were you.

ACatastrophicMisintepretation · 20/07/2016 00:31

Margaret I completely agree - people who try to reserve public highway piss me right off! It's not your land, you don't own it! I have spent many a year living on terrace streets and witnessing people who seem to think they're entitled to park outside their own house and putting out cones to mark their space.... As one of my friends said to a man who blocked her car in for parking outside his house, "turn around, go back inside your house, fetch your deeds and show me where you own this land". Twats is right!
But yeah OP you have every right to be mega pissed off, I'd definitely block them in and turn off all my lights and ignore the door!

kali110 · 20/07/2016 00:32

I get it towed

DiggersRest · 20/07/2016 00:33

Sorry, l need to know how this ends!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 20/07/2016 00:36

Some has randomly drove up your drive way and parked their car there.
You must have shit yourself seeing a strange car staring out at you.
I'm sorry, but I'm actually LMFAO at the brass neck of the situation.

DeathStare · 20/07/2016 00:46

Another place marker here!

sykadelic · 20/07/2016 00:47

I can't believe that you can't get police involved in someone abandoning property on your property. Like a fine or SOMETHING.

MrsHardy1 · 20/07/2016 00:50

Place marking for the update Grin

MyKingdomForBrie · 20/07/2016 00:57

If it was me I'd park them in for as long as I was able to leave a car there and ignore all knocks!! lucy even if it isn't an inconvenience yet how on earth would the driver know it isn't inconvenient?!? You can't take up someone's drive way that they own and have paid for at your own selfish whim! OP could very easily need to park there, have a delivery placed there, have a skip on order, anything.

toobreathless · 20/07/2016 01:09

We get this a few times a year- our back gate gets blocked in. I block them in with car one and take car two to work for a 12 hour night shift.

Then I often come home, go to bed and sleep very deeply. Plus our bell is broken.

No one has ever done it twice!

januaryjan · 20/07/2016 01:26

..

VenusRising · 20/07/2016 01:32

Blocking a car in is an offence.

I think everyone has a bad case of parking rage TBH.

Chill out, it's only a car in the drive, and doesn't block access.

A simple note highlighting the problem and to ask not to park on private property would be fine.

Why start ww3 when they know where you live? Think about it.
