Just that really.
Where's a good place to live to escape all the Brexit madness?
I prefer Nicola Sturgeon to any of the psychopaths allegedly 'running' the country down here.

I think it depends on lots of different factors. I went to a rather la-di-dah private school in Edinburgh, lots of it there. Now work in state Ed and see it there too. Thinly veiled commentary on the likes of BBC Radio Scotland etc. If you are aware of it, it's there. I'm hot on it in school because I don't want other kids to put up with the shit I did - it almost appears to be an acceptable norm. But I was regarded as a half breed mongrel, that's even worse than pure bred English! I joke, it doesn't bother me now, I have a thick skin. But it does bother a lot of kids and it's unacknowledged.

The V and A will be opening next year at the Waterfront

Eh? It's not scheduled to be complete until 2018 and if it follows the usual disastrous route of Scottish civil engineering projects it'll be a longer

PresidentCJCregg · 30/06/2016 21:43

Alright, the year after. Jeez!

dementedma · 30/06/2016 21:44

That kilt man has spindly legs.
Scotland is NOT utopia. A one party country with no credible opposition, obsessed with "freedom" rather than dealing with problems in education and infrastructure. Highest rates of alcoholism, dental decay in children.....lots of lousy weather.

ExitPursuedByBear · 30/06/2016 21:45

See!

aliceinwanderland · 30/06/2016 21:46

Zoo - it's definitely there. I find it interesting how the scots are up in arms about the racism in the leave eu ranks - but don't want to acknowledge that a lot of the heat in the Scottish indy campaign was underpinned by anti-English feeling. (I too was told more than once that all English should go across the border)

zoobeedoo · 30/06/2016 21:47

I remember reading once that Dundee had the highest teen pregnancy rate in Europe (don't ask for source, I've no idea it was years ago) it stuck in my head as really funny because I was born in Dundee to a teenage mum. Grin

zoobeedoo · 30/06/2016 21:49

Oh absolutely Alice,I was told to fuck off back home for voting no in the Indy ref. Replied i'll be back in half an hour, home's only up the road

ForalltheSaints · 30/06/2016 21:49

I enjoy visiting but the shorter days in the winter make it a no-no for me.

PresidentCJCregg · 30/06/2016 21:49

I think we've lost that crown now zoo Grin

Dozer · 30/06/2016 21:51

Scotland receives way more money per head than England under an ancient "Barnett formula", which would end if there was independence.

zoobeedoo · 30/06/2016 21:51

President i think it's cos its cold and rainy here, nothing to do but drink and shag haha Grin

PresidentCJCregg · 30/06/2016 21:52

Don't know what you mean. That's not at all how I spent my youth.

Redactio · 30/06/2016 21:55

Anyone thinking of moving to Scotland should visit the Wings over Scotland website. All that anti English hatred can't be good.

PresidentCJCregg · 30/06/2016 22:00

Ach we all know Wings is mental.

zoobeedoo · 30/06/2016 22:11

In all honesty, it can be a great place to live. It's beautiful, the culture is spot on - the architecture is unbelievable, the history is amazingly dark, we have brilliant myths and legends and stories. There are times I get all misty eyed and nostalgic walking down the royal mile in autumn/early winter its so atmospheric. But we have our fair share of cunts.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 22:12

'Anyone thinking of moving to Scotland should visit the Wings over Scotland website. All that anti English hatred can't be good.'

He can't hate England that much. He's lived in Bath since 1990.

HooseRice · 30/06/2016 22:17

That kilt of the day bloke is reminding me that a shirtless beefcake in a kilt keeps popping up on my "people you may know" on FB. I don't know him but the bad me wants to friend him anyway Grin

Saying that on the same list there's a guy with a union flag shirt giving the peace sign Envy

PresidentCJCregg · 30/06/2016 22:17

Oh the Royal Mile in clear crisp weather. That's a good one.

MorrisZapp · 30/06/2016 22:19

Man in kilt is a 'expectation / reality' meme waiting to happen.

aliceinwanderland · 30/06/2016 22:20

Agree Zoo. There are lots of good things in Scotland. Especially if you like the great outdoors.

zoobeedoo · 30/06/2016 22:24

And waterproof clothing. (I like both)

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 22:27

There are lots of nice pubs if you like the great indoors.

HooseRice · 30/06/2016 22:36

There are lots of nice pubs if you like having hangovers.

There is also no shortage of places that do a decent fry up Grin

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 30/06/2016 23:15

Edinburgh is brilliant during the Festival. It's pretty good the rest of the year too.
