To miss Autumn?

Probably. Grin

I think I have reverse SAD! I'm not really a 'Summer' person. I crave crisp air and dark evenings and hot chocolates by the fire. Anyone fancy a sneaky out-of-season thread about the loveliness of Autumn/Winter?

Move to Scotland! You can have it all year round. Wink
I seriously contemplated putting the winter duvet back on last night.

Mysillydog · 29/06/2016 10:48

I really dislike hot summers but we are not having one of these. It feels more like Autumn than summer to me, apart from getting dark late. So I can't miss Autumn at the moment. In fact I'm currently wrapped up in a woolly scarf.

GaryGilmoresEyes · 29/06/2016 10:52

I do love a proper winter though. Sun shining on frost on the grass, those gorgeous pink skies at sunrise, ice on the river and I love snow.

PipnPosy · 29/06/2016 10:56

I love autumn too. Love the back to school feeling in September, the leaves changing colour, the nights drawing in, the anticipation of Christmas. I would love all the other seasons too if they did what they were supposed to, but Autumn is the only one that never lets you down!

MrsLion · 29/06/2016 10:58

I love Autumn. It's my favourite season.
Yanbu.

Bright, crisp days. A chill in the air and cosy nights.

Love it.

MyNewBearTotoro · 29/06/2016 11:16

I've had to put the heating on this morning it's so cold and it's been raining non-stop for days.

Definitely doesn't feel like summer here (Northish England). Haven't really had much summer yet this year so I can't relate, sorry.

PuppyMonkey · 29/06/2016 11:18

I like the thought of autumn when we've had a really hot summer and I'm getting bored of it and want a change.

But I'm not getting that vibe so far this summer... I'm craving a bit of sunshine first....

littleprincesssara · 29/06/2016 12:52

Me too, I hate summer. I am enjoying all the rain and storms we've been having recently (sorry, I know that's unpopular!).

christinawilliams · 29/06/2016 13:00

It never feels like proper summer in England anyway.

LucilleBluth · 29/06/2016 13:02

I love that back to school feeling in September, Halloween, bonfire night, Christmas.

That's why I love watching Frasier, it's perpetually Autumn, everyone seems to be dressed in woolly jumpers in autumnal colours :)

OhNoNotMyBaby · 29/06/2016 13:12

I'm with you OP. summer is cold, wet, rainy and miserable. Give me Autumn any - and every - day. As a child it was the most exciting time of the year - Halloween, Guy Fawkes, picking blackberries, Christmas. It still is the most exciting time for me.

The cold, crisp nip in the air and lovely walks with the dog.... Not long to wait now!

tinyterrors · 29/06/2016 14:17

I love Autumn with the crisp cool air, the changing leaves and the cosy nights. I love winter when it's cold and dry with frosty mornings and winter sun. I love thunder storms which most people I know think is weird, I don't even mind walking in the rain as long as I'm on the way home to a hot shower and cosy pjs.

I like summer when it's warm and sunny at the weekends and holidays so we can go to the park and have picnics and bbqs. What I hate is the hot, sticky, muggy weather and days that start out cold and end up scorching and vice versa.

Seriousjockin · 29/06/2016 17:59

Lucille are you me?! Another Frasier addict here! I have been known to whoop with excitement when I catch a festive episode.. His apartment + Christmas decorations = my dream. Grin

Ah it's nice to find some fellow Autumn-ites! I honestly don't know why, but I just feel happier at that time of year, when the temperature starts to dip and the leaves begin to turn orange. I love stomping around in the cold in my wellies and then coming home to curl up under a blanket with Strictly and a Thai takeaway hearty home-cooked meal.

We always go away for a UK break in the first couple of weeks of September when the days are still summery but there's a hint of Autumn creeping into the evenings.. That lovely smokey smell in the air - ahhh can't beat it!

I love Autumn. I'm already mentally preparing for it. We're moving soon, and I can't wait to enjoy autumn and winter in our new home. Yes, I feel happier in autumn. I can feel my mood lift around mid to late August and I'm quite happy until we reach full on spring, then I feel like I'm just counting days until August again.

Beanzmeanzcoffee · 29/06/2016 18:13

My people! Ooooh yes please. Cinnamon on everything and jumpers and scarves and m&s tights (the smell of new tights fills me with absolute joy). Crisp leaves and cold fingers and hot chocolate. Curling up with a good book under a blanket. I could go on all day. I have a Pinterest Autumn board. Sometimes I just stare at it longingly.

GingerIvy · 29/06/2016 18:15

Yes, cinnamon on baked apples. Hot chocolate. Jumpers. Big crocheted blankets, curled up on the sofa with a good book. Fireplace going. Love it.

Seriousjockin · 29/06/2016 18:16

GingerIvy I am exactly the same - there's a particular summer show we always go to in about the third week of August and that's usually when I start to feel a sudden lift in mood!

Hope the move goes well - we relocated in the late Autumn about five years ago and I'm convinced the time of year had a lot to do with the fact that I fell in love with our new city in a big way. The Christmas lights were on, everyone seemed to be in good moods.. Moving can be awful but that was lush. Grin

More like Autumn here too
Much prefer spring and summer when we have one !
Hate short days and long nights so Autumn is a prelude to winter which I find depressing

GingerIvy · 29/06/2016 18:23

My dcs chose the CD for the car the other day, and it was Christmas music! We had a good laugh and enjoyed it. Grin

Lilaclily · 29/06/2016 18:25

Another one here
Mostly because I'm dreading the 6 week holiday , no money , moany pre-teens, dh working the whole time

TheTurtleMoves · 29/06/2016 18:28

seasidesally · 29/06/2016 18:33

ive lit the fire the last two nights, not roaring but a gentle burn

wet/damp/miserable here

Beanzmeanzcoffee · 29/06/2016 18:36

gingerivy (nice name btw) we're moving this Autumn too. We've been renting for a decade, finally buying this year. It has a fire and I am SO EXCITED about it.
