To miss Autumn?

Probably. Grin

I think I have reverse SAD! I'm not really a 'Summer' person. I crave crisp air and dark evenings and hot chocolates by the fire. Anyone fancy a sneaky out-of-season thread about the loveliness of Autumn/Winter?

Ive found my people! 😊

I absolutely love autumn and winter and am completely ready for cold, crisp mornings, dark evening, candles, jumpers and all the other lovely aspects.

I've had enough of this pishy excuse for a summer! (Plus I'm fat so look better covered up!)

Spudlet · 29/06/2016 21:22

I have found my people! Love Autumn. Big jumpers, hot chocolate, red wine, jeans, wellies.... No more hay fever or sunburn for this pasty, allergy-ridden redhead, lighting the log burner, working the dog, collecting sloes and making gin, making the Christmas cake... My birthday and wedding anniversary... Love. It.

Roll on Autumn!

GingerIvy · 29/06/2016 21:26

Bathshua hahahaha Yes, true. Winters are definitely something else there. I miss the snow though. Grin

LaurieFairyCake · 29/06/2016 21:31

I love Autumn and winter right up til mid January

Mid January til end February is awful - feels like winter will never end

TheSecondOfHerName · 29/06/2016 21:31

I've found my people!
Autumn is my favourite season, closely followed by winter.

Not only is summer tiresome, but there's pressure from everyone around me to love it.

mogloveseggs · 29/06/2016 22:00

Another autumn lover here. Don't do heat even our UK summers are too hot for me. autumn with the cooler air, wonderful colours (and the excuse to eat rib sticking steamed puddings) suits me much better.

BathshuaSpooner · 29/06/2016 23:03

Village, Kennebunkport is picture postcard perfect but it was in all the papers in the US a few years back. Apparently, a woman was running a brothel out of her aerobics studio! People were gagging for the details list of her clients to be released.

During, tourist season it can be very congested and tempers can be testy. People who live in Maine year round tend to be very nice, very laid back. After tourist season is some of the loveliest time to be in Southern Maine.

TheNaze73 · 29/06/2016 23:36

YANBU. It's my favourite season too

MrsDoylesTeaParty · 30/06/2016 00:05

I miss wearing my coat, whether I'm fat or thin. I love being coated up! I feel bare without it, like I'm missing part of my outfit. Roll on cooler days! UK summer is so beautiful in so many ways but too hot for me (and I lived in the Middle East!) It's just so humid here.

GingerIvy · 30/06/2016 08:06

We have ceiling fans in our house, so the heat hasn't been much of a problem. None in our new home though, and I'm going to miss them! Still trying to decide if I want to have them installed or not. I may wait until next spring.

maninawomansworld01 · 30/06/2016 23:44

YANBU at all.
Autumn and winter are my favorite seasons, Spring is nice too.
Basically anything but bloody summer! I mean, summer is fine if you're on holiday with nothing better to do than sit by the pool, swim in he sea, take a boat trip somewhere, eat and drink too much (you get the picture).

Meanwhile back in reality the dishes need doing, the dogs need walking, the house needs painting, the sodding lawn needs mowing twice a week, you just cut the hedges and turn your back for a minute - hey presto they're back and more unruly than ever, the school run needs doing and all he while you're sweating away like a fucking pig!!
Don't even get me started on work!

Roll on October!

altiara · 01/07/2016 01:28

I miss Spring! I love Spring - baby animals, plants coming back to life and the idea that this summer could be the one where I'm drinking lots of wine by the river plus BBQs, pimms, holidays... it's a time of hope!
Unfortunately I don't like flies/wasps/mozzies/hot weather and never go and drink wine at any pubs by the river Sad

mogloveseggs · 01/07/2016 01:33

We've had lots of wind and rain tonight. Has been fab listening to it!

ConkersDontScareSpiders · 01/07/2016 12:31

Love Autumn. I like autumn winter clothes better and like being snuggly at night. I always do a huge Halloween party which the kids love and I like crunchy leaves and cooking Nice stews in my slow cooker which isn't really the same in summer.
That said Currently in a massive jumper as working from
Home and surrounded by damp washing that I can't dry-but I refuse to put the heating on in bloody July!

I LOVE Autumn. Right now I'm living on the equator so no seasons for me and will miss Autumn entirely this year :-(
I love the dark evenings drawing in and the cosiness of being inside and the run up to Christmas.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 01/07/2016 12:34

How can you miss it?

It's here! It hasn't gone away it seems.

PumpkinPie2013 · 01/07/2016 15:58

I love Autumn and Winter too Smile just something cosy and crisp about it all Smile

I'd much rather it be cold and wrap up than too hot no matter what I wear.

I love Halloween, bonfire and Christmas too so that makes Autumn /Winter even better Grin

LeonoraFlorence · 02/07/2016 08:10

I love Autumn :) I like the 'nostalgic for something but don't quite know what' . That's exactly it.

OohMavis · 02/07/2016 08:16

Autumn is the best season. Yanbu.

We live next to a wood and it's GORGEOUS in the autumn. The oaks turn red and gold and the paths get covered in leaves. And the smell. Can't beat it.

Bonfires. Boots. Scarves. The excitement of the run up to Christmas without the actual stress of it. Ahhhh.

anahata · 02/07/2016 12:41

I'm an Autumn lover too. Crisp dog walks, the smell of log fires, Halloween, cosy nights. Strangely though I'm not a lover of Christmas, just really love Sept to Nov time of year. And chunky jumpers. And scarves.

Autumnchill · 02/07/2016 12:45

Love Autumn, favourite season, thus the user name Smile

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/07/2016 12:46

I love Hallowe'en.
Love the changes of colour, falling leaves.
Love all the American Hallowe'en ideas but Envy that they have dry, crispy days and clear nights with lots of leaf fall (and the odd AxeMan Killer thrown in for good measure)

I do, however, want some nicer days, my guinea-pigs deserve a summer of grazing .
But I'm not looking forward to the Hot Sweats from menopausal night flushes [sigh]

Clandestino · 02/07/2016 18:42

Define summer. 16 degrees and thundery showers like right now?

DrCoconut · 02/07/2016 18:47

I hate Autumn and winter. Cold, damp and depressing with hours of dark. Can't get out and do things and the kids are back at school after the holidays. And the clothes are crap too- clumpy boots and horrid itchy jumpers. Give me wall to wall sunshine, days on the beach and light airy dresses any time.
