I voted Leave but don't deserve abuse for it !!!!

Yesterday I voted to leave after months of thought about all the main issues regarding membership.

I decided to leave based on sovereignty, I don't want a closer EU/United States Of Europe. I don't want my son to be in an EU army.

Immigration and economics for me were lesser issues. But still influenced my vote.

The names on here and Twitter that have been directed at leave voters has astonished me.

I am not uneducated, racist or xenophobic. I simply want the best for my country and that IMO is leave and I am overjoyed with the victory today against all odds.

Maybe if those on the remain side looked more into the arguments instead of name calling it would have been a different result.

It shocks me that labour supporters on Twitter are saying these horrible names against leave voters, but they need us to get their seats in the north, I don't think it is a good idea to insult your own base.

Even on mumsnet rhetoric has been appalling, I have had posters say they can't bring themselves to speak to leave voting parents.

Why can't you just accept maybe that leave possibly has a better campaign/arguments.

This idea that many leave voters regret the vote is wrong, everyone I know who voted leave is in a joyous mode today.

Can we just move on now and accept the result instead of insulting 52% of the population.

I am sad that 52% of our population is ignorant. They suffer from xenophobia and are unable to see the long term result. I work with someone who is highly educated. She arrived at work today and announced she was 'excited' she voted to leave. I asked for just one reason why she was excited. What was she expecting? No answer. She didn't know why she voted to leave other than 'we need a change'
Bloody ignorance. Every comment she has made throughout the day supports remain. I pointed it out and she said 'oh yes'
I cannot believe it

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 24/06/2016 22:45

OK user - nukes now? Good idea Hmm Gawd. Back to your playpen please.

wombattoo · 24/06/2016 22:47

User = loser

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 24/06/2016 22:47

User demonstrates exactly why this shouldn't have gone to a referendum in the first place.

ghostyslovesheep · 24/06/2016 22:47

User you are hysterical - but not in a good way - have a glass of Rose and a chill pill - nukes - hahahahaha brilliant

See if you are trying to demonstrate that leave voters where massively well informed and clever you are really not achieving you goal

User you are great comedy value - cheered me right up

Alconleigh · 24/06/2016 22:52

I think what is actually clear is what a damning indictment of our education system this is. So many people basically sub literate. Terrifying.

Alconleigh · 24/06/2016 22:53

And yes, I use that term deliberately.

Permanentlyexhausted · 24/06/2016 22:53

We protect our boarders with lethal force

Brilliant spelling mistake!! I now have a picture in my head of armed police standing on cliffs holding angry Brexiteers at bay so that refugees can safely swim ashore. Grin

CiaoVerona · 24/06/2016 22:54

I also heard Mark Carney talking about putting aside £250 billion from the Bank of England to help the market if the economy crashes. If the economy crashes to the point that we need a £250 billion bail out, we are in deep shit. No-one will have anything. There won't be any money for a welfare state, or an NHS, and the least of your problems will be a few refugees. And I can't see a single Brexiteer acknowledging this.

It ironic you have posters attacking people for the way they voted calling them stupid ,when they make statements like the above.

ManonLescaut · 24/06/2016 22:54

So many people basically sub literate

7 million people in this country are functionally illiterate.

I totally agree Alcon.

MelanieCheeks · 24/06/2016 22:55

Ah yes, of course, drop a bomb on them! That'll make everything ok! What hadn't anyone thought of that before!

ProfessorBranestawm · 24/06/2016 22:56

Certainly goes both ways, DH got called scum when he was leafleting in his I'm In shirt. Like literally people just walking past, shouting at him

23jumpstreet · 24/06/2016 22:57

Whatever we will be, it will be our choice.

user1466795781 · 24/06/2016 22:57

MelanieCheeks

Cause Obama wouldn't allow it, Trump will.

gonetoseeamanaboutadog · 24/06/2016 22:57

OP, I'm actually in fits of laughter at your OP and subsequent posts. You seem to embody the negative stereotype of a Brexit voter, obsessed with minor issues such as the logo on your passport (if you want to be taken seriously, don't ask that question a third time) and apparently incapable of understanding that very little (if anything) will change about immigration.

Oh, and you're 'not racist' but you don't want the refugees here.

And you're happy to announce 'don't care' about 'that lot' in London but you don't think anyone should be nasty to you.

And BTW, you're educated!?

I know it's been bitter on both sides but if you want to dodge some deserve criticism, don't speak and don't start threads for a while.

Salmotrutta · 24/06/2016 23:00

We protected our borders during ww2 we can do it again, if trump wins we will have America, UK, Russia and Israel all willing to fight the Isis Islam war going on. I could see nukes being dropped on Syria to end the war good and quick

We barely protected our "borders" during WWII!!

And you are aware of the drastic cuts to our armed forces that have been implemented I suppose?

NoMudNoLotus · 24/06/2016 23:01

OP I totally agree.

I'm joyous & I feel relieved for my children .

Tbh a lot of the moaning is coming from the privileged.

I'm happy I voted out . Very happy.

Salmotrutta · 24/06/2016 23:03

Or did you actually mean "boarders" as in boarding school pupils/lodgers etc.?
