I'm feeling pretty shocked and scared right now.

Why did you vote for brexit?

But beetroot all of your comments have been immigration not anything eslr? What do you expect? What about working rights, Mat leave rights? Trade? The economy? Our country's credit rating?

yaaasqueen · 24/06/2016 06:52

They voted leave because deep down they are a xenophobe who's scared if anything new or different

LittleLionMansMummy · 24/06/2016 06:52

I admit I don't know many Leavers. But those I am acquainted with seem to have voted on the basis of immigration. My city is in the Eastern region and voted something like 70% Leave. We have a lot of immigration here. I'm genuinely worried about tensions now, having never felt this way about my home before. There are some really awfully hateful and racist comments on the local websites. Sad

beetroot2 · 24/06/2016 06:52

Guess what happened... the wealtht decided that cheap labour was the way to go.. they gave no consideration to the working class and employed eu cheap labour. Back fired now though hasn't it.

beetroot2 · 24/06/2016 06:53

wealthy

Justaskingnottelling · 24/06/2016 06:53

Yeah, well for once the people who aren't immigration bashers are fucking angry. I'm sick of hearing them bleeting about 'they're taking our jobs' when we won't have any jobs.

I'm so worried for my children and I'm furious. My kids won't be able to easily work, live and study in the EU now; so many opportunities will be lost. Maybe remainders should have been angrier before and we wouldn't have lost.

You don't have to be angry because you've got you wanted. It's a classic case of be careful what you wish for.

Scotland will now definitely leave the Union, and I don't blame them. It'll cost an absolute fortune to renegotiate all our agreements. And who's going to want to trade with us now. It's a disaster. And I'm apopolectic.

Joneseygirl77 · 24/06/2016 06:54

I'm horrified by this mornings result. Honestly thought all the undecided would vote to stay. The markets are now in free fall and this is going to have such a negative impact upon our economy. Know the leave have won solely on the immigration card which makes me so so angry.

Mouseinahole · 24/06/2016 06:54

Should have said, the one person I know who voted Leave has 3 degrees (BA, MA and MPhil) so not uneducated at all. He isn't racist either but I do believe he is wrong in his belief that things will be better now :(

beetroot2 · 24/06/2016 06:54

We voted leave. The people of my country voted.

formerbabe · 24/06/2016 06:55

The middle class, metropolitan elite love sneering at the working class...
Humble pie time for them

sashh · 24/06/2016 06:55

There are no 'uneducated' people in this country.

Yes of course, that's why I had to explain to someone what the EU is.

beetroot2 · 24/06/2016 06:56

I wonder why? Cheap labour?

beetroot2 · 24/06/2016 06:56

The average worker in this country couldn't live. The rich tried to make more bucks...it didn't work

WeDoNotSow · 24/06/2016 06:57

It's really unsettling, as nobody has any clue what's going to happen.

But I'm not going to lie, I'm finding all this angst about losing jobs slightly ironic, as when my DH was being undercut left right and centre from cheap EU labour, he was accused of being racist for complaining even though he is the son of an immigrant himself!

That's a general thing though, and I do feel lots of sympathy for those people personally it's not a nice place to be,

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 24/06/2016 06:57

Of course they lied - they're self serving fools.

Moanranger · 24/06/2016 06:57

Interesting thread. Thanks OP for starting it. I think so many voted Leave as a protest vote. (Stastically, I should have voted Leave as am older, but I voted Remain.) There is xenophobia in the Leave vote, but it gave people who feel voiceless a chance to have their say. Under our Parliamentary system, there are so mant safe seats that voting seems pointless, but in this case each vote counted.
A lot of people are, quite rightly, feeling angry. The economy is very unbalanced, finance is over-dominant; it makes a few people rich, and the rest of the economy scrapes by. Our taxes have gone up cross the board, but wages are stagnant. That surely affected the way people voted. If you are scrabbling around for a job, but seeing them go to Eastern Europeans who will undercut you on wages, you would vote Leave, I think.

branofthemist · 24/06/2016 06:58

I'm sick of hearing them bleeting about 'they're taking our jobs' when we won't have any jobs.

Despite knowing quite a few who voted to leave, I have never heard this come out of anyone's mouth nor written on anyone's Facebook.

I am pretty sure some people do say it. But it's thrown around by remainers far more.

beetroot2 · 24/06/2016 06:58

It got to the point that we have nothing so fuck you. I don't care

beetroot2 · 24/06/2016 06:59

why are you sick of hearing the truth?

Peppatina · 24/06/2016 07:00

Yep 16 million plus people only voted the way they did because they are all racists.

Oh and poor, they are probably poor so you know, thickos. Cos poor people are all thick aren't they? All their own fault of course nothing to do with limited opportunities.

Naturally anyone who doesn't agree with you is far too stupid to be allowed to vote, why don't we just stop them voting? Or better yet make them have an IQ test first.

(Lord if you lot are the voices of reason, fairness, tolerance and liberal values I ducking despair.)

fastdaytears · 24/06/2016 07:00

It got to the point that we have nothing so fuck you. I don't care

Is that how you really feel about the country? That we have nothing? Can you explain?

zaalitje · 24/06/2016 07:00

Nomud

Remainers have NO idea of the extent and the financial disaster that immigration / free movement has had on our NHS. Brexit gives our NHS a chance - under remain our NHS would be in a coffin.

How? You realise were potentially exploring a lot of working people who are netr contributors to the economy and importing as many pensioners from Spain, France and Portugal? They won't be working and paying taxes, they will be using the NHS . . .

TeacupDrama · 24/06/2016 07:01

Because the eu is undemocratic the UK is a net contributor to the UK but we are treated with disdain see particularly Juncker comments l think sovereignty is the major argument it is possible to vote this government out it is impossible to get rid of Juncker even if 75%of Europe was against him.

Personally lthink brexit vote would have been higher exceproject fear worked.

Also (not me) the more bankers Obama Merkel bankers said stay you silly people we know best the more people think if it suits bankers beaucrats and the wealthy the less likely it is to be in my interests as ordinary workers all over the world people are fed up of being told vote this way we know best what's good for you.people hate being patronised in this country outside London the type of metro Islington labour leaning person has nothing whatsoever in common with them,l

I live in Scotland though l am English but l feel that people in London and southeast despise the rest of the country they dismiss them as generally thick they think there is no culture elsewhere like it is a desert north of Watford or west of Swindon even now they are critising rest of country for not voting their way calling them racist stupid etc

jay55 · 24/06/2016 07:01

My one chance to live through a revolution.

fastdaytears · 24/06/2016 07:02
