I'm feeling pretty shocked and scared right now.

Why did you vote for brexit?

But the polls show that brexiters tended to be less educated, and or non working people, on a lower wage.

What upsets you so much about that?

SamWheat · 24/06/2016 23:22

Why would anything of changed staying in EU

They might have enforced proper use of the word "of", for a start.

See, this! THIS. Proves my point. I'm the biggest grammar and spelling pedant going, but THIS type of attitude is why people are looking elsewhere because the minute they voice concerns or a differing of opinion/experiences, they get shouted down, laughed at or ridiculed.
There's just no need. Listen to others for once, because even if their experiences don't apply to you it does to others.
You can't be surprised and throw toys out of the pram if people think differently to you. We live in a democracy, and get to choose what happens.
People not listening to others is what's lead to this whole sorry mess.

louisagradgrind · 24/06/2016 23:23

Have you ever asked who is conducting those polls?

Might your shining intelligence lead you to reasonably assume that it is those who wanted to remain?

KissMyArse · 24/06/2016 23:25

This is why REMAIN lost. Do people not see this? The lies and the maybes

There were lies from both sides. IMO the politicians have failed this country, not the electorate.

I voted leave.

confession time I subsequently spoiled my ballot paper by signing it.

Not big, not clever and I know I'll probably be vilified for making a mockery of my right to a democratic vote. I'm not proud of it.

In retrospect I wish I'd just abstained, it would have been more honest/less cowardly of me.

Helmetbymidnight · 24/06/2016 23:27

Oh a Brexit conspiracy theorist! Did you bring your own pen?

Helmetbymidnight · 24/06/2016 23:29

They get shouted at, laughed at or ridiculed

Why does it matter? You've won!
We're about to enter a new golden age, right!?

louisagradgrind · 24/06/2016 23:32

Don't be foolish.

Any educated person will always enquire who is writing a report or who is conducting a poll.

I'll try to explain.

If a report comes out saying sugar is not harmful, it makes sense to ask who funded the research into that report. if it is a sugar manufacturer then you may want to take it with a with a pinch of salt or indeed sugar.

If a poll is conducted saying that only ill educated people voted Leave, then it makes sense to ask who is conducting that poll. In the light of that, do you think it was conducted by someone who wanted to leave?

Hope that helps.

Scaredycat3000 · 24/06/2016 23:34

Oh the bloody pen thing. I wondered what the elderly voter was on about infront of me, telling the ballot lady 'I've got my own pen' repeatedly. Get home and read the MI5 scare story. Couldn't have come at a worse time for us, OH being made redundant, office moving to Europe, nothing to do with EU grants all asset stripping the company. Fucked over by people who can't even work out the pen/pencil thing was a clear lie.

hellsbells99 · 24/06/2016 23:35

I have been in the pub tonight with a large group of friends. Most of us are in our forties, most with good jobs, most with degrees and I was surprised to find out that many had voted to leave ......but most of us are Northerners therefore that bit fits the profile.......

Scaredycat3000 · 24/06/2016 23:37

And most of OH colleagues where from the EU as nobody here could/would do the job, mostly mainland EU's losing their jobs.

Helmetbymidnight · 24/06/2016 23:41

Wow, so the fact that the most deprived areas of the country (and especially in Wales) voted brexit and more affluent areas voted remain is not a fact but a lie put about by some remain maestro. Okayyyy.

louisagradgrind · 24/06/2016 23:41

As opposed to 'being fucked over' by someone who can't tell the difference between 'where' and 'were'.

If you want to throw stones, check first that you don't live in a glass house.

ChipStix · 24/06/2016 23:42

I'm really looking forward to all those hospitals

BillSykesDog · 24/06/2016 23:43

But the polls show that brexiters tended to be less educated, and or non working people, on a lower wage.

The polls also showed that Remain were going to win...

Helmetbymidnight · 24/06/2016 23:43

It's going to be wonderful!

louisagradgrind · 24/06/2016 23:43

Helmet: would you like to list all the affluent areas in England that voted to remain? It shouldn't take very long and makes a nonsense of your reasoning.

Caravansandfestivals · 24/06/2016 23:44

But some of the most deprived areas I.e Wales get the most help from the EU! It makes no sense!

Helmetbymidnight · 24/06/2016 23:46

do you accept the elderly voted bare it or is that a lie?

The gap between remain and leave was much narrower the wealthier the area.

Helmetbymidnight · 24/06/2016 23:46

Brexit?

Helmetbymidnight · 24/06/2016 23:46

It makes no sense at all.

louisagradgrind · 24/06/2016 23:52

But Helmet, you weren't talking about gaps. You confidently announced that affluent areas voted to remain and that is not the case: apart from a few exceptions, affluent areas voted to leave.

There are a great many affluent parts of England and if they had voted to stay, then I think Remain would have won. They didn't.

louisagradgrind · 25/06/2016 00:01

Ps. I think it is probably a lie that 'the elderly voted bare'. Don't believe everything you are told. Grin

blinkowl · 25/06/2016 00:08

"I am shocked at the pomposity and arrogance of the poster who declared Brexiters must not be educated. It's this kind of attitude that lost Labour the last election"

It's not pomposity or arrogance, it's fact. See this image.

I want people to tell me why they voted #leave
Brexit · 25/06/2016 00:12

Bless. I don't remember having to state my qualifications on the voting paper.

louisagradgrind · 25/06/2016 00:14

Who compiled that chart? It could be mere propaganda.

I read a report today that stated those who wanted to remain were educated below the national average. It's fact.

Now, I didn't but can you see that just stating something without saying where the information came from is dangerous at worst and plain stupid at best.
