Yes I have voted, but I am sick and tired of the unrest, I'm aware there has been a lot of discontent for a long time but its now feeling toxic and I want it to be over one way or the other.

kitsa - that's horrifying. And I know, having had friends go through similar, that it's true for so many people who come here legitimately. It makes me ashamed. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Marynary · 23/06/2016 15:06

I feel nervous. I don't know a single person who wants to leave, perhaps because I only mix with similar minded intelligent people but the media gives the impression it will be close.

RosesareSublime · 23/06/2016 15:07

Kitsa when you talk to capita if you ever have to again ask if they are perm staff your talking too or temp staff.

its likely its temp staff maybe in job months maybe a day? under huge pressure and not trained properly. They get temps in to keep head counts down.

spanky2 · 23/06/2016 15:07

Me too. I now have really bad anxiety which has made me feel sick. I even had to do one of my cbt therapy chart thingies to try to help!

AdultingIsNotWhatIExpected · 23/06/2016 15:10

That's exactly the kind of thing that makes the atmosphere toxic, and will continue to do so after the votes are counted

dizzyfucker · 23/06/2016 15:12

Kitsa just wanted to say I've been in your shoes. We had a similar experience. We're happily settled and being away from family is hard but you get some amazing holidays and so do they.

Someone even said to me "as of Friday no more immigrants!!!", I almost spat my tea out.

Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

JassyRadlett · 23/06/2016 15:12

Kitsa, I'm so sorry, what a horrible situation.

I took my filthy spawn of a scummy immigrant mother children to vote with me and we went for coffee/babyccino and pain au chocolats afterwards to cheer myself up. Yes much more tense - and busy - at my polling place this morning. Interestingly no exit pollers, but I suspect they've written my area off as solid Remain.

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 23/06/2016 15:13

the whole process I've found very stressful.

I've always been very clearly Remain. I really found myself being very stressed and wound up by it all to the extend that I signed out of FB for 10 days (never done that before) to reclaim some calm. I've also been avoiding most (but not all) news and debates etc about the referendum. My thinking is I'm voting what I'm voting, and what will be will be - nothing I can do about it. And I have no interest all in what Boris/Farage/Gove etc have to say.

I did get a giggle over Bob Geldof shouting "Farage attended 1 in 47 meetings of the fishing commission" (or similar) over and over to Farage on the Thames. I thought that was quite brilliant. Apart from accidentally seeing that I've steered clear of it all.

Today I actually feel calmer and more positive about the result that I have done in over a month. Let it be over very soon.

LittleLionMansMummy · 23/06/2016 15:16

I got a bit ranty when a post popped up on my feed from the veterans saying they supported Britain as a 'democratic beacon' and were therefore 'out' like the EU is 1930s Germany. As someone whose grandfather was involved in the D-day landings and was one of the first troops to liberate Bergen-Belsen he'd be turning in his grave to think there was even the slightest chance that fascism could show its ugly face again. He was deeply affected by what he saw at Belsen and for the rest of his life upheld kindness, humanity and togetherness above all else because he knew that nothing good can come of fragmentation. UKIP's map of arrows insinuating Nazi invasion made my blood boil. And no, I'm not saying all leavers are racists, but I'm fairly sure that the infamous Nigel Farage poster was lifted straight from the Joseph Goebbels' treasure chest of memorabilia. My granddad would have despised him and everything he stands for. I've tried asking people to vote on the basis of the bigger picture and not just immigration, but at the end of the day it's their vote, such is democracy, for all its faults. My Facebook friend basically admitted her vote was all about immigration and I fear that's ultimately what it boils down to for many. Either way, I think the UK is in for a stormy time because this has stirred up such passion.

AdultingIsNotWhatIExpected · 23/06/2016 15:19

also we can exit any time even if we vote remain by an act of parliament, so UKIP can promise that to angry leave voters who feel ignored, they're not going away, if anything they'll step up the divisiveness

green18 · 23/06/2016 15:20

I can't wait for it to be over. I am angry that DC allowed the ref and then went on to say what a catastrophe it would be to leave after previously saying GB could stand on it's own 2 feet easily. I am also sick of voters to leave being branded racists. I couldn't be less racist. i voted leave. Roll on tomorrow.

green18 · 23/06/2016 15:21

This kind of attitude is what i am sick of the most. How dare you?

sparechange · 23/06/2016 15:23

In the last hour, the betting exchanges have gone from 8 to 1 for leave, to 10 to 1
So it is looking more certain that the idiots haven't won

heron98 · 23/06/2016 15:25

I have deliberately not watched any news or read any of the leaflets through my door. I am also staying away from social media and avoiding talking about it.

I know I want to remain, I am a huge fan of Europe, always have been since a child. I have made my vote and what will be will be.

I don't want to watch people arguing.

Biggot!

LittleLionMansMummy · 23/06/2016 15:26

What do they base betting odds on? Do they do their own exit polls?

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 23/06/2016 15:26

Quite green18 - I only hope that no-one has based their voting decision on what they have read on MN Hmm

StVincent · 23/06/2016 15:27

Mate, bigot has one g, just for future reference.

The80sweregreat · 23/06/2016 15:27

little, my dad fought for freedom during the war. He voted remain today as he believes we are better together. He surprised me a bit , if I am honest, ( he has a lot of outdated views about other things generally, but not this)

green18 · 23/06/2016 15:27

Typo! Bigot!

SpiceLinerandHoneyLove · 23/06/2016 15:29

Why do these discussions always involve people with opposite views to the one some posters hold being called unintelligent and idiots?
It's unnecessary and it's exactly those sort of comments that fuel the unrest and bad atmosphere. Just uncalled for.

HahahahaFuckYou · 23/06/2016 15:29

Why are people worried? No matter what the poll results are it's not legally binding.

squoosh · 23/06/2016 15:29

What do they base betting odds on? Do they do their own exit polls?

I think a fair bit of private polling has gone on.

PoisonousSmurf · 23/06/2016 15:30

All the old people seem to be voting out in my area. Does that mean that they are all thick and uneducated? No! They have life experience and know much more than we credit them for.

AdultingIsNotWhatIExpected · 23/06/2016 15:32

I couldn't be less racist. i voted leave

I voted In, but can see how leave could appeal to people who are against racism, in theory, why don't we treat all people wanting to come to England the same, rather than prioritising ones from the same continent (and generally same race, as most europeans are white) - leave could ideally seem fairer

I don't believe there would be any fairness in practice, I think the home office treats people who have to go through the non EU route (i.e. everyone post brexit) appallingly, but I can at least appreciate that there can be liberal, tolerant and fair ideals in the Leave camp!
