to have gotten matching head tattoos with DH?

DH and I, are definitely on the quirky side. We both got tattoos on our heads. Very similar, but mine is the female version and his is the male version. My mum never knew I was getting it done, tbh at 29 I wouldn't have said I needed her approval. I have my MIL blaming me and claiming that I have influenced her son into it. Friends claim that it looks ridiculous! All I want to know is WIBU? Surely as family and friends you don't have to just be damn right spiteful about a choice I have made, I mean it isn't illegal/hurting anyone. Grrr.

kiss that one is vile!

Sallystyle · 22/06/2016 22:15

I wouldn't get that tattoo personally but I like them. People wouldn't get a fat Betty Boop or a My Little Pony or any of the other tats I have.

Whatever make you happy and they are quite cute.

YANBU. If you're both happy with them, then that's all that matters. I mean, I wouldn't personally get a head tat, but then you could quite possibly look at my tattoos and think 'they are hideous, I'd never get a tattoo like that'. It's personal really, isn't it? My MIL to be used my multiple piercings as a reason that my soon to be husband ought to break up with me. Oh well. We're getting married this year, so my now removed tragus, conch, lip web and scaffold piercings clearly didn't bother him too much. Not that it'd have stopped me from getting them if they did bother him. My body, I can pierce and tattoo whatever parts of it I want.

penguinplease · 22/06/2016 22:18

It wouldn't occur to me to have an opinion on anything anyone else does but then I'm old and when I was 19 I had a tattoo on my thigh and all my friends and my mum were all clutchy pearls about it!

My mum still hasn't forgiven me. I do not give a shit.

Your head, your decision ! And I like the sentiment even if I'm wondering how much that must've hurt!!

magicstar1 · 22/06/2016 22:20

Aww they're deadly. Don't worry about anyone else...if you two like them that's all that matters.

SouthWestmom · 22/06/2016 22:21

Op, they look like you e photo shopped them on, especially near your ear - are you testing the water Grin

eurochick · 22/06/2016 22:22

I think they are awful. Each to their own though.

But your OH might get to a stage where his hair can no longer cover his... Which might make work tricky.

LongHardStare · 22/06/2016 22:22

Well his stands alone but yours only makes sense when you're standing next to him...

Thebigredcar · 22/06/2016 22:23

I love them!

Tabsicle · 22/06/2016 22:23

I love them!

FoxesOnSocks · 22/06/2016 22:25

I like tattoos (on the righ person), but I'd never ever get one myself. I change my mind about nail polish colour after 24 hours. Some people suit tattoos, some don't they just don't suit them; I'd say the op does.

TheOliveTree547 · 22/06/2016 22:26

Haha, no! They're definitely there! Grin work isn't an issue, they don't care about tats!

Blimey that hole in the head tat is like something out of the film Pi.
I must confess OP I did think of Monster high too cos of DD but I think you both look fine. But I am an incurable romantic.
If my DD had had that done I'd be fine with it, more than fine actually because you can let your hair grow. So fair play to the both of you xx

TheOliveTree547 · 22/06/2016 22:26

That's why we didn't go with writing that was very noticeable, so at a quick glance, no would know! Grin

I have an absolutely huge tat on my chest, I think it matches well. I'm awful, I think of new ones I could have each day!!

Not for me but they made me smile. Your body, your choice and you are not hurting anyone else so why not?

OohhItsNotHoxton · 22/06/2016 22:32

I like them.

I like them on you but I'd cry if my boys got one like that!

PacificDogwod · 22/06/2016 22:34

I don't get the desire for any body mods and would never have any myself, but I quite like them on others.

And yours are quite sweet, have meaning to you AND growing hair will cover them should you wish to hide them in the future.
If you were my family member I would be amazed and tickled and shuddering in equal measure Grin

Your body, your tat, your body mod.

SaucyJack · 22/06/2016 22:34

I quite like the Monster High skulls and the placement of them but

I'm afraid I'm far too bitter and twisted to think getting matching tattoos is a good idea when you're so young.

You're so gonna regret it when if you split up.

KissMyArse · 22/06/2016 22:35

Blimey that hole in the head tat is like something out of the film Pi.

Why did I Google that ... "Max drills his head scene"

I should have learned not to google stuff after first hearing the phrase 'blue waffle'

hippydippybaloney · 22/06/2016 22:35

If you asked for your friends' opinion and they said they look ridiculous, then YABU in that respect - they don't have to pretend to like them.

Mil is being silly though.

AbernathysFringe · 22/06/2016 22:37

As a rule with tattooes, I'd get the most expensive I could afford, from the best person I could afford because it's my body and it's permanent (pretty much). I probably wouldn't get one related to any love interest. But that's my personal choice. As yours is yours. In general I don't think anyone really gets worked up about tattooes in Britain at least, anymore, your friends and his family will get over it.
