Ok some of us have car stickers in this referendum malarky .. It's just that my car stickers are 8ft by 4ft! (I have a people carrier and got someone to mount them on the roofrack).. So doing my bit I was parked up on a bridge over a dual carriageway where the message in the boards will be very visible to lots of commuters.

The bridge is not an urban clearway. It has a very wide footpath and there were only about four people come past in an hour... Until one chap comes up taking photographs. I ask him what and he says "I am sending this to the police"

I can only assume that he doesn't like the message on my car stickers and wanted to be nasty. Is this what the referrendum is bringing people to

How do you think a car sticker is going to persuade people to vote your way?

anorakgirl · 22/06/2016 07:34

Maybe he thought you were being obstructive if the signs are that big? Also, do you really think a car sign is going to change people's opinion?

TheDuchessOfArbroathsHat · 22/06/2016 07:35

I would view your impromptu canvassing as a distraction to traffic. You and your car sticker should be removed.

TheDisreputableDog · 22/06/2016 07:36

Yes YABU. Let people make their own minds up.

Roll on Friday, I am bored of this awful campaign now.

Was he a white man op, if not he should clearly be back where he came from I suggest you add some flags etc to your statement sticker.

Don't you need a license for what is essentially an advertising hoarding?

MaryDoloresOHoolihan · 22/06/2016 07:38

Hahahahahaha brilliant!

Scarydinosaurs · 22/06/2016 07:39

YABU and breaking the law.

Cookingongas · 22/06/2016 07:39

Yabu. You were obviously parked incorrectly/ obstructing as else he wouldn't have been able to say what he did to you. He didn't say anything "nasty" he stated his intention quite honestly after you asked him!

branofthemist · 22/06/2016 07:39

Is this a joke thread? I don't get it.

DameXanaduBramble · 22/06/2016 07:40

Why was he nasty? He was just doing what he thought was right. You were obstructing te parent and possibly causing a distraction.
Personally I wouldn't have gone as far as the police but you would have heard quite a few comments off me about selfish arseholes who think they can park where they like.
YABU.

PurpleDaisies · 22/06/2016 07:42

Seriously? What do uou expect to achieve? Some undecided voter drives along, sees your car and all of a sudden thinks "yes, I know how to vote now?"

You were unreasonable for thinking this will change anyone's mind.

TJEckleburg · 22/06/2016 07:43

He was uninformed - whilst the proliferation of leave signs affixed to highways property is illegal and we are being encouraged to photograph and report to RO's, car signs aren't.

But you are uninformed as well - your sign will make very little difference, in fact most people will just think you're a prat for having it. And I speak as some one who also has little signs in my car-they, and signs outside houses, work because they allow people to identify with me. There's evidence that knowing that people who you know are voting one way is influential on people's voting, but not large signs by strangers

TheNaze73 · 22/06/2016 07:43

Are you Mr Farage?

If so YABVU

coldcanary · 22/06/2016 07:43

The pavement not te parent!
Oh and you'll probably end up on the 'parked like a twat in xxx' fb page too.

SoupDragon · 22/06/2016 07:44

I think he was right and you were a potential distraction to traffic on the dual carriageway.

Gowgirl · 22/06/2016 07:44

Selfish people wanting to use our pavements, take our jobs and drain the nhs, 350 million a week it cost us don't you know!
take back control op ✊

Don't be daft. You were parked on a pavement and potentially causing a distraction.

Just like the campaigners near me waving banners on a fast roundabout, notorious for accidents, during rush hour. Probably had the opposite effect to what they were hoping for.

SoupDragon · 22/06/2016 07:46

The OP doesn't actually say she was parked on the pavement.

Gowgirl · 22/06/2016 07:46

That was meant to be a fist pumpGrin
