Ooh, Deschanel is a good one. Classy but a bit hipsterish, plus the Sunset Beach thing, nice.

When I worked in a bank the two names I came across which I really loved were Christmas and Rocky. After reading the thread I am starting to really like the name Wolfe.

I have a friend who's surname is Gauntlet

I was "mentored" by a Mrs Gauntlett as a trainee lawyer. Put the fear of God into me.

I'd go for Shakespeare, Keats or Swann.

I am happy with my surname, I'll never change it if I get married. I don't care if it outs me, my name is Love, and I'll never tire of people reading/hearing my name and going "Oh how lovely"

mckinnon or a colour name turquoise or indigo maybe. Also like first names as last names i.e duncan, graham, frazer. More boringly anything further up the alphabet that my actual surname that people can spell.

DH is of Huguenot descent so we have a name which is very unusual in the UK and always have to spell it out. No problem in France where I just pronounce it the French way.

It is actually fairly similar to a much more common French word, so those who think they are good at French try to spell it 'their' way and fail to find us in the phone book.

I love it, much nicer than being a 'Phillips'.

One of my good friends married and became a Montague, which I thought was pretty dashing.

Unfortunately, said Montague turned out to be an utter cunt, and now they're split and she has three mini Montagues...

I think I commented earlier that my surname is Christmas...today I was at a conference between a man whose surname was Valentine and a lady whose surname was Trout. Although we established that being a Christmas and a Valentine does bring with it many a comment (seriously, if you meet another Christmas, don't ask if their first name is Mary. It's not original. You are not hilarious) it was less upsetting than being a Trout. The conversation moved on and Ms. Trout said she didn't want to retain her maiden name because that was Fallick!! Between a fish and a cock, that really is a rock and a, ahem, hard place Grin

She could have double-barrelled it to
Mrs Fallick-Trout or Trout-Fallick....trying to decide, which is worse?

Mandatory I have a friend whose name is Joel De'Ath - he is a paramedic.

All of his colleagues have their last names on their uniforms. His says Joel D.

I guess because Death showing up on your doorstep when you fear your dear nan is having a heart attack might be a little unsettling?

There is a children's author that liked my DD's name so much that he used it in a book.

No one believes her.
