His face was a picture when Allison Pearson asked him to give it a rest, --put a sock in it, as all the men on the panel had their at turn at speaking and now 'she wanted to say something'
Priceless.

Also, why's he on it? He keeps butting in..

I agree that a lot of other people in UKIP are racists by the way.

I wonder if Eddie Izzard or his people will see this thread? Perhaps someone should tweet him.

If he wants to progress as a politician he will need some media training. He probably arrogantly feels it isn't necessary because he has been in the public eye for such a long time and appeared on tv countless times. But he's wrong about that.

Farage a geezer from Kent?

He'd like you to think so.

Leave Eddie alone. He is a diamond. Funnier, braver, cleverer, more generous than 99% of people in this country. Or anywhere in fact. Although all the vitriol won't bother him in the slightest; he has been through far worse. (No I'm not his mum)

Yes but why is he a racist? This is a genuine question.

I have never heard him say anything racist and you can see how delighted he is to stand on a platform with people like Kwasi Kwarteng now.

He doesn't actually seem to care who fights alongside him. (He's just never had any support till now so he has let just about anyone join his pressure group - which is all UKIP is really.)

That's how I see it anyhow.

Nicola Sturgeon, Amber Rudd and Angela Eagle were very good taking down Boris in the debate earlier!

It was embarrasing and rude. They lowered themselves IMO.

I know which way I'm voting anyway and thought the DT woman had a fucking cheek tweeting about Brexit during the Brussels bombing when 52 people were killed by home grown terrorists in this country 11 years ago

The terrorist's in Paris were also home grown ish from Brussels Molenbeck area. However due to the free movement of people, some of them, and people involved in their cell were able to flit across EU, into Syria, back again and even to the UK. That is what she means I think.

Free movement is making it easier for terrorists.

I think DD's got better. He's not as biased now.
Also, the audience seems to be a better, fairer mix now (previously it seemed to be mainly students, who, lets face it can be just as fixed in their views as older people can be.

Its natural to prefer people who are just like yourself i.e. thus it is natural to be racist. What is progress and brings genuine progress are those times when humans are able to overcome this.

Note that Nigel Farage is only pretending to be like the average Joe. he comes from a very rich background and his name is not pronounced Farridge

Note also that is not particularly natural than only women wear skirts and high heels. That is just a feature of modern European originated cultures.

I thought Izzard came across as a) a man way out of his political depth with no understanding of why we have arrived at a referendum and b) an innocent and naive student with lots of enthusiasm like a little puppy.

don't like it when singers/actors/comedians get all shouty & political

I'm always suspicious as to how much of it is really concern and how much is self promotion

I'm sure there are some altruistic celebs out there, but which ones are for real aren't which aren't?

Well, insofar as a privately educated ex Comodities Broker can be described as a "geezer from Kent".......

QT was a mess last night, Eddie Izzard was just awful.

Throughout this campaign (and others), I can't help but be struck that even when you don't agree with someone's viewpoint, it can make a huge different how they say it - Farage and Sturgeon are both excellent speakers and debaters, unflustered and actually recounting information rather than bluster. Much as I love Boris, he seems to be a dreadful speaker. It can make a huge difference.

I tend not to care what someones background is really. I judge them on other things, being rich or poor doesn't preclude you from being able to be a good politician who does understand peoples issues.

I cringe as much when people snidely refer to someones "privaliged" background as I do when someone snubs some ones deprived one.

3dogsandacat · 10/06/2016 10:02

It's interesting that someone like Hugh Grant who doesn't appear to have an political aspirations was probably one of the best "celebrity" panelists QT has had.

Really? I wouldn't mind watching that. Is it on Youtube? Hmm

I'm not surprised.

EI wants to be an MP so I guess he feels doing QT is the right way to go.

But he is awful. Just awful.

But then I can't take him seriously since he he said he knows he's trains gender because he feels sexy in heels.

Yes Eddie. That's exactly what being a woman is about!

Well, Eddie certainly seems to think so, Argy

Come on, you can't think his performance last night was ok? How bad do you have to be before audience members are calling out shut up in sheer frustration? And even dimbers agreed with them?

If that had been a stand up performance, he'd have definitely died.

He doesn't seem able to get past grand ideology. He sounds like me when i was about 14 a teenager - this 'the whole world just needs to all love each other' stuff. Yes. Thank you for that Eddie.

And all the ''I was there'' stuff, ''I was campaigning'', ''I said this''. ''I told them that'' Hmm I think he believes he's much cleverer and influential than he really is.

Yelling and shouting over people. And then the whole ''no it isn't'', ''yes it is'' bit about the economy with a member of the audience - he had nothing to say which made any sense. Any more than the politicians he berates!

(not impressed by what he wears or doesn't wear either way)

Yes he was rude and some people whose parents were immigrants want controlled immigration as well so going on about NF's heritage was a bore

Gisela Stuart is Labour MP leaver - immigrant speaking eloqunelty on the ITV debate for leave. I know plenty of immigrants in my own family - most are Leave.

His persistence on that front shows he simply doesn't understand what average joes gripe with immigration is.

Its not immigration per se, its the amount of it. Izzards point, was utterly pointless.

I don't know whether NF is racist or not and I have never heard him make a racist comment. That said, UKIP attracts people who have racist, sexist and homophobic views and he leads them. When one of them gets caught by a covert recording etc he steps in and sacks them but I doubt he doesn't already know that a significant element of his party hold these views. I don't agree with Russell Brand on much but his description of NF as a 'pound shop Enoch Powell' struck a chord with many. NF can be engaging and I've no doubt he represents better company down the pub than a lot of politicians. But I fundamentally disagree with his views on the future of the U.K. and the party he leads is a shambles.

captainproton you suggest Even Jeremy doesn't seem that bothered about campaigning to remain. have you looked at what he's doing? Typically for him he's touring the country talking to people to make the remain case.
