"Fasting is good for humans - I know, who'd've thunk it!"

Not for so many continuous days it isnt.

MrsJayy · 06/06/2016 21:46

KH should do a gobshite fast Grin

joangray38 · 06/06/2016 21:46

They don't fast for 20 hours at a time . My Muslim ex flat mate used to fast from dawn to dusk then eat a lot to make up for it. Maybe she should actually be a journalist as she writes for a "newspaper" and see how Muslim people cope with fasting.

Spectre8 · 06/06/2016 21:47

so you are ok with your co-workers being given extra time off or finishing earlier whereas you are not or in some cases not all work productivity goes down and you just may end up having to pick it up

PacificDogwod · 06/06/2016 21:47

Drinking is more of an issue, but my understanding is that food and drink does get taken (a lot!) in the hours of sundown.

People fast in countries FAR hotter the the UK currently - we had 24C today and it was lovely but everybody was moaning about 'the heat' Grin - yes, I am in Scotland.

MissHooliesCardigan · 06/06/2016 21:47

I can't stand the woman but I detest religion in general and Islam and Catholicism in particular and I do think she's got a point. And I never ever thought I'd say that. And that doesn't mean that I detest Muslims and Catholics as individuals, I know quite a lot of both. It's their whole belief system that I have an issue with.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 06/06/2016 21:48

Eating a lot in one go at night is extremely unhealthy.

Newbrummie · 06/06/2016 21:49

You know what yes because sometimes they do the same for me, it's called co operation, give and take, life !

3dogsandacat · 06/06/2016 21:49

OP are you as offended at writers who insult Christians? Everyday I see posters here who use Christ's name as a swear word, but not one person ever challenges it.

Very interesting point.

Palomb · 06/06/2016 21:51

She's an arsehole, but she is absolutly correct on this matter. It's been 28° here today and I've been gardening. I've had at least 2 litres of of fluid and 2 ice lollies, and that's just to pootle around in my garden.

I would not want someone dehydrated looking after me, driving me, making decisions about my life. Not eating or drinking for 18 hours of the day is ridiculous and unsafe. People who partake in in should not be paid to serve other people. It's a choice.

Gileswithachainsaw · 06/06/2016 21:52

I'm not a religious person I think it's all a load of bollocks.

but I do understand and respect that other people feel differently.

there are plenty of incompetent idiots out there messing up their jobs and endangering people who haven't been fasting... drs and nurses are renowned for marathon sessions surely?

given I live in a very diverse town, akd I am.not tripping over passed out Muslims on the way to school/home/work, I'm gonna assume that they are used to it, they know what they are doing and how little they have eaten drink or slept seems to be of no concern to anyone when they make that 4am kebab run...

WorraLiberty · 06/06/2016 21:53

I don't know a single Muslim who hasn't broken their fast if it has started to affect their livelihood, or the safety of the people around them.

They've just had a very small, plain snack and a drink of water and continued with their fast the next day.

Surferjet · 06/06/2016 21:53

Absolutely.
Op. Why aren't you offended by people insulting Christians?

Palomb · 06/06/2016 21:53

And actually in the UK conditions are harder than in most parts of the world. Because the uk is so far away from the equator the 'longest days' are far longer then they are in Pakistan. Ramadan does not always fall in the summer but when it does it is hard.

CantAffordtoLive · 06/06/2016 21:53

Religion is a whole load of shite, it is used to CONTROL the masses.

Who really really belives that they get rewarded with virgins by following some indoctrination? Honestly?

And those of you who accommodate these beliefs? Get a grip.

haha really, they do the same for you. Sorry but iti isn't fair or consistent for everyone. unless you get exactly the same time off its not right. What if you choose to go on a fasting diet for 30 days I bet you your manager would have absolutely no sympathy and would let you have time off work. But hey because its religious its suddenly ok.

UptownFunk00 · 06/06/2016 21:58

OK so the list of people she doesn't like:

Chavs or those who don't have eloquent names
Fat people
Immigrants
Muslims
Scottish people
Disabled people

I've probably missed a few.
The woman is full of so much hate I almost feel sorry for her.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 06/06/2016 21:58

Surfer I am not sure I am offended....I am Christian and am so secure in my beliefs (my faith in Jesus is unshakeable) that nothing anyone could say would change or damage that.

I am just interested why threads appear in outrage whenever Islam is targeted as such, yet posters here happily and often degrade Christ and Christianity.

Just wondering.

Spectre8 · 06/06/2016 21:59

wouldn't*

Newbrummie So when do your co-workers cover for you when you are, erm, away for some Christian celebrations? Fastings? Pilgrimages?

Surferjet · 06/06/2016 22:05

Yes, I agree with you.
It's one of life's little mysteries.

GigiB · 06/06/2016 22:08

I think the headline is illegal as well as aspects of the text.

As an aside, here's some quotes from Hitler:

  • I use emotion for the many and reserve reason for the few
  • If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed
  • All propaganda has to be popular and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach.
  • By the skillful and sustained use of propaganda, one can make a people see even heaven as hell or an extremely wretched life as paradise

Why aren't you answering the posts about Christianity?
